Guys after doing 9k kms first time I felt that RTR should be a little more heavy. Today it was a windy whether and when was cruzing on highway at a speed of 85-90kmph i felt like my bike is getting pulled to one side as the wind was little strong. I felt like the back of the bike is going away and it was real scary as it was becoming dangerous and i felt like anytime bike will blow away with wind and a crash at a speed of 90kmph i cannot afford to . Reduced the speed to 45kmph. Never experienced a thing like this.
I guess we should avoid to ride hard in a windy whether.

I Got My First Service done today..i am sharing the details with you guys !
I Went to the service centre and stayed back to watch my bike's first service. It hardly took an hour. The guy was not replacing the Oil Filter. He claimed that it does not needs replacement..But since it costed just Rs 30/- I asked him to change it as mentioned in the service manual.I got my faulty Kick pedal replaced with a new one under warranty. He was after my life that i get the teflon done..Trust me guys Never get trapped by these teflon guys. They actually use nothing but Carnauba Wax...mostly 3M.They just keep fooling that its very good for the bike and all..I Dint opt for the so called teflon coating.Got the Engine Oil Changed too..The guy used TVS chain lubricant on the chain...Which he dint inform that it was chargeable..They Charged me Rs 30/- for a small application. When I got to know this that i was charged for it..I became so frustated that i bought the whole bottle of the TVS Chain Lubricant..
Here are the price details :
Oil : Rs 180
Oil Filter : Rs 30
Chain Lubrication : Rs 30
TVS Chain Lubricant (500ml) : Rs 290

Total : Rs 530/-+taxes extra

Good you changed it.
It MUST be changed along with the new oil.

I pray not to get any surprise from the bike. A warning would be enough, though!!

Ask the svc people to check handle's bearings and tighten the cone-set.

Im facing the problems you stated but i think its impossible to make the svc change the crankshaft under warranty especially because they just replaced my one way clutch a few days ago. I am fed up of TVS svc. So much for the reliability of TVS. I will think twice rather thrice before buying any TVS bike again in the near future.

Hi All,

I am using RTR180 i have completed 6000km, since 1st service i am experincing an issue in my bike but the SVG guy is not able to solve the issue the issues r given below, please guide me in this.

1. When going around 0-45Km/hr bike has some kind of jerk as if the petrol has come to reserve i have told this issue to SVG on 1st service and still no proper solution, it went on 2nd service same on 3rd service SVG guy tried to change the coil and new Carburettor but the issue remains same till i can feel a jerk between 0 to 45km/hr.

2. Person sitting in rear is felling more Vibration.

Thanks in advance

Raghavendra

hey

in RTR there r some vibrations that u can't do any thing because it has high power BHP ........

but the jerk issue it should be done in SERVISE center.

just try to show this problem to the head MACHanic of tvs after that let see what the machanic feels to the prob .......

overalll RTR rocks isn't it .......

Tvs tyres suck supremely(on wet roads)...

i have done only 250 kms in my bike and yesterday while turning at a chauraha which had been washed to clean the road my RTR180 just slipped....since i was not fast because of the turn and the speed was around 20 km/hr i was able to hold it...barely....

and when i started it again and tried to move the rear tyre was skidding towards the left....

i wanted to ask you guys if this is the case at such low speeds then what will i do when the rainy season is just around the corner..

also my first bike service is due on july 9th....will post the details of the servicing....after reading all the posts here i will stay at the service center during servicing

EDIT: also a few days back when i was cleaning the bike i found out that the rear disk brake indicator had little to no oil...so should i fill it myself or wait for the servicing....also does the rear disk brake oils get used up very quickly???

Answers- BOLDS.

BOLDS

+1

Yes, it can be done.Escalate the issue to the Regional Service Head and ask them to have a look on your bike. Things should work this way only and especially if a particular bike suffers from so much of problems.

Possible reason for one way clutch failure.

Concept behind one way clutch:
when driven side comes to life, it must rotate faster than driver.

Driver: Starter rotates engine at around 1050 RPMs
Driven: Crank shaft- It MUST rotate at speeds atleast 100-150 RPM faster than driver. (Thats why TVS recommend 1400+/- 200 RPMs)

Theory of SVC guys:
Lower the idling RPM, better fuel efficiency (Dont know which bugger on earth gave this theory to them)
Thus after every service, they set idling RPM at 1000 or so, which is nearly equal to driver or some times lesser than that. Ultimately, this results in jamming of one way clutch and all the problems. RTR180 Engine having lower Bore:Stroke ratio than RTR160, is capable of idling at lower RPMs than RTR160 (No need to explain SVC guys set it even slower).

Preventive measures:
1. Set Idling RPM near to 1400 (in cold condition also, engine must run at 1200 RPMs atleast.

2. Use kick starter when cold, or if bike is not used for 3-4 hrs. And if you want to use starter only, trigger the starter with little throttle open and release immediately as engine comes to life.

That was my analysis. real fact may be same or different.

Hi Guys
Thanks for the advice, but "Rennycornelius" they cleaned the old carb, and also tried with the new card but issue remains same, today is the 3rd day i am going to Service centre they said today they will look at the wiring and check the voltage.
Let me see and update you soon, if still problem exist i will put a mail to the head of TVS.

BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
i think you nailed it...

They tried the new carb in front of you or they "told" you that they tried the new carb???
Cuz take my word for it, they never did.
For any carb related issues stand on their heads and get it done in front of you other wise they'll never do it.

Voltage has nothing to do with the hiccups, if it had, then the bike would have gave you uneven firing at all RPM's.
Timing on the new bike cannot be out too.

What should i ask them to do? Should i directly ask them to check the crankshaft? Because i think they are going to tell me the crankshaft is fine. And my front brake has lost almost all its bite. I did proper brake bleeding from a different svc, they even opened the disk and rubbed the pads on sand paper. The braking had improved a tidy bit but it has again gone back to being almost dead.

Hats off!

Great Analysis Dude!!!
