The mechanic there says that my rear disc is worn out How can the disc be worn out at 8300kms on odo? But there was lots of noise coming from my rear disc for the past two days I asked him to just clean the discs and give me and not change it. I also changed my rear disc pad at 6k on odo..

How to check the health of the discs? any suggestions?
If your bike is under warranty take it to the A.S.S...if not try another Mechanic to know the truth.Changing disc pads at 6K kms indicates more brake use or pad is rubbing on the disc .Get it attended.

When I rub the rear disc I can find some ring like pattern formed over it. Does this indicate a worn out disc?

Man! TVS service sucks.. If my rear disc is really worn out I would have to take it so some A.S.S and repalce it under warranty..

Now that I have moved to Pune from chennai can anyone suggest me a good TVS Service Centre in Pune? I have given my bike for service in C.B.Z Thube service station. Hope they do a good job.

Mild amount of wear on the disk is acceptable. If the step on the REAR DISC is less than 1 mm it is ok If it is more pronounced then you will have to change it.

Don't do speeds you and your bike can't handle. Ride safe..wear protection and be safe.
Check plug after you had done about 300Kms..
            Good luck to you.

            • Guys, i have done 210 kms till now....sometimes, on turning the handle, i hear a groaning sound....is this normal? It happens once or twice, and then dissapears....but it happens everyday.....I hope the body parts are not rubbing against each other.....what could be the cause of the problem?

Also, could i have handlebar grips like the pulsar fitted on my bike? Where could i get it done in Pune?

              Thank you.....cheers

From what you say it sounds like your fork yoke stems need lubrication..Does your bike stand in the open and get wet ?Go to your A.S.S since your bike is still under warranty and make a specific complaint, and they will rectify it for you.

ENGINE COOLANTS ARE MEANT FOR ENGINES WITH RADIATOR,AND IS ADDED TO THE RADIATOR WATER.
Bikes with radiator(YAMAHA R1,R15) do need coolant for lubrication, protection against corrosion, and good heat distribution.Normally in temperate climate like ours 25 to 30 % of coolant volume for the Radiator is enough.More is not good.

Got my bike from service today. Changed Spark plug and other minor issues are solved.

Still my rear disc is giving squeaching sound even while rotating the wheel keeping the bike on center stand. The rear disc is worn out

Anybody has an idea how much does an rtr 180's rear disc plate costs?

What is the reason for the disc plate getting worn out so soon? I'm not a stunter or racer. Just a regular biker.

My bike is 13months old and 8.3kms on odo. Will my disc plate be changed under warranty?

                      • Wsup !!

                        Wsup guys !!

Its almost 1 month since using my RTR 180. Here are my observations :

1 Fuel effeciency improved ( Initially had around 30 to 32, now close to 36-40).

2 Engine feels extremely refined. I don't see that grunty/raw engine feel that i had initially.

3 Almost everyone on street cant resist looking at my white beauty

Now here are my concerns :

I am not that much good into biking however I want to know about this. when i am in 5 th grear it seems that something is stoping my bike from going forwad. I dont know what it this. I reached close to 65 KMPH on 5th grear and it seems my bike is squeezed to max. what the hell is happening here ? My bike is supposed to reach atleast 124KMPH on odo. I am not sure whats happening here, is this normal ? Will first service rectify this issue ?

Thank you guys in advance for clearing my doubts.

You are experiencing the RTR's Vibration zone near 65km/h Its normal. If you rev it a little more and go above 70km/h you will be out of that zone

Well you cant go to 124 from 65 in 5th gear alone, you should have reached 65 by 3rd gear or so i think , crt me if wrong

                            • today i cleaned my air filter myself
it was 2k km since last service and bike was not running smooth.i opened it the spunge was dry an carring a lot of black dust .i dont know how to clean it but my friend told me to dip it in petrol and squees it all the dust will be removed .i done it and cleaned it then soke it into old engine oil and fit it back . i dont get the tool to open sp .
the rpm needle dose not remain constant on idle it continus move slightly.
and i rev my bike with out air filter to hear sound of exhaust dose it damage engine or carb.
and please tell me the right way to clean air filter.

I've never done it myself but saw it getting done in SC. He removed the sponge and dipped it in kerosene (I think petrol is fine but an expensive way + the fact that it evaporates). Squeezed it and repeated the process. And for the final part put engine oil on it.

And revving the bike with no air filter is a strict no no.
