  • Hey can you people suggest some good brands of xw40 grade oil for 180.

Drifty had suggested Elf Moto4Gold 20w40, but dealers here in Thane give a weird look.. when I specifically ask for this one...

Some other good alternates will help.

Why so???It is not available there or what??Here at my place they are easily available.

        D.I.Y-Valve clearance setting RTR180
        D.I.Y-RTR180 brake fluid replacing/brake bleeding
        D.I.Y-RTR180 brake pad replacing/cleaning

Hey Drifty, it would be of great help if you tell me where? If you are talking about Dombivili, even that would be fine as I will tell one of my office colleague to collect it for me.

Need to change it before this weekend.

Only 2k! It won't be cone-set then.I guess, you are annoyed by the vibrations. The kind of noise you are suggesting must be of the fairing.Open it and try fixing double-tape between the console and the fairing. It might bring some relief..

It could be the hugger too.It took me some effin days to figure that out.At about 5-6k rpm there's this strange karrrrrrrrrr-karrrrrrrr noise used to come.I thought it's the fairing. But a few days back while washing the bike,I was revving it ideal and somehow found that the hugger vibrates and produces that strange noise! Screwed some bits here and there and now it works wonder..Try this also.
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

For e.g Mineral Oil for first 'x'000 kms --> SS for the next 'x'000 kms --> and finally FS?

I read about engine oils in one of the post in Help me section. However, it would be of great help if some one can explain this specifically for RTR 180.
Usually it is in the order....first 5k kms - Mineral....5k-10k kms -Semi Synth....10k kms - Synthetic...
Nothing feels better than to gear up and burn some rubber ! ! !

                      • I got a can of Shell Advanced 20w40... the SVC people didn't allow me to use that as its 20w40 and the gradde recommended for RTR is 10w30

I have no doubt about Xw40 as many of the people here use that, but is it okay to use 20wX? (my bike usually gets very short rides where engine doesn't get the chance to get properly heated up even)

I have been using semisynthetic right after 2k and since then the bike is running butter smooth. RTR demands a good lubrication due to its high REV nature, also synthetic is a gr8 choice no matter its costly but its value for money

Same here. In-fact I've already started using synthetic oil. I currently use MOTUL FL 300v 10w40.

I believe it is the other way round...any xW40 engine oil would be good...where lower x is good for colder climates. The SVC guys are saying that the recommended grade is 10W30 because that is the grade of the TVS True4 Engine Oil.
