  • Can someone please check and tell me how the accelerator cable to the carb is routed? My "auto throttle" is not fixed despite replacing the cable. I suspect someone routed it the wrong way. Currently its coming across the 'steering column' (?) to the left side and to the carb via the left side of the frame under the tank. However I adjust it, the cable is slightly pulled when turning to the extreme right causing the revs to go up. Its just maddening...

@Drifty - right click on the pic from picasa, get the link and insert inside the image tag. From flickr, go to action, get the 'BB code' and paste it in the box...

    • Can any one help me on this. My RTR 180 has done close to 7000 km's and is due for 6th service. This time i like to change the engine oil and oil filter myself I've bought shell advance ax7 10w40 SS. Have'nt got the oil filter though. I like to know the best tools and their size to remove the drain bolt and oil filter cover I live in Trivandrum, Kerala and would like to know from where i could buy these

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Buy a #19 (or is it #17) box spanner for the drain bolt. For the oil filter cap, a #8 nut driver should do. You can get these from Karthik enterprises in Power House road.
And do head over to the Trivandrum Offline thread and introduce yourself. We have a strong presence and lots of activities related to xbhp happening..

I think it is correct the way you described.

One end is attached to the switch-console and the other end (which has two splits) is coming through the left side of the frame.

It seems your cable tension is too tight or the cable is dangling below the frame (not firmly in its place). There is a nut that you can play with to adjust the tension of the throttle cable. This nut is just beside the place where you insert the second end of the other end of the cable.

          Hope it helps

Ah! I forgot to mention one more thing. There is also an adjuster nut on the rectangular sort of thing in the throttle cable... Have you fiddled with it as well

OT:How to insert images along with the post rather than attachments?I read the dedicated thread for it but no results! When I copy the image location & paste it in the 'insert image' link, just a small white box appears in the post but not the image.Would appreciate if someone could help me with this!

                    Different sizes of quarter pins..
Okay, please keep us, or atleast me, updated about this Right now, this is the first thing on my priority list.

And, about uploading pics, I don't use any 3rd party picture uploading website. Just upload it anywhere on the net (even orkut/facebook) and if you use GOOGLE CHROME as your browser, you get an option as "Open image in new tab" when you right click on the image. Using this, you can get an independent link of your image which you can use with the insert image option. No problems at all. I do it this way only

The best part of this is when you are buying the bike, you exactly know how much km it has run and what is the top speed it has been ripped up to by the showroom people.
Wrong. I got the speedo/odo sensor cable replaced (obviously from the front wheel) because I wasn't getting any speed reading or even ODO increments for around a month. And, the replacement is done in front of me only. Just the cable replacement, and its again working like ever before. If it has any option of getting readings from anywhere else, then mine shouldn't have stopped working. Agree?

Thanks Lijo.About the auto throttle thing, guys it has nothing to do with the adjuster nut as its coz of the tension in the cable.I think, the cable should be routed from the centre of the steering column and not across it.Will check it tommorow and let you know!

Guys, my bike makes a hammering noise when ridden with a pillion. Is this normal? It has done 1.5k kms.
If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there won't be.
