  • Guys Suggest me some good lighting for my Bird. I want to change the lighting for highbeam. I dont want to use white light( Its blinds the person comming from opposite side). I had checked in Team-bhp some have used osram, Night vision or something. I dont want the light to drain my battery as i already have roots horn so if i use 5ah Horn and 55W buld will that drain the battery? Suggest me some good lighting which can be direct fit and also within my budget of 1k.

AFAIK If you fit a PHILIPS 55/60 w bulb(essential vision) you may get a decent amount of light, check out wid some of your friends who own a car coz now a days people who own a car change to 100/90 bulbs and they might have the 55/60 bulbs spare with them.Regarding the horns have you fitted them with a relay?then they wont drain your battery,I had once fitted hella red grills with relay on my splendour and it never drained my battery .Hope this helps

      • @ all

        Hi guys,

Just popped over here to confirm. The old T'bird has a BS26 CV carb right?
Is it the same one that is on Pulsars and Fieros? Or is there any diff?

        Thanks in advance.

        • K&N filter and Mobil engine oil for TBTS

My 9 month old TBTS is due to change for filter at the third service. I wanted to fit a K&N filter to my bike. The service station won't allow me if i ask them which one should i go for and the local mechnic is not aware of the K&N filter. In this case what should i do should i go for K&N filter or should i not, if yes then which filter model should i buy? will it be plug and play or will i need some tweaking. Also found that the Mobil 1 Racing 4T is a 15W50 API SL JASO MA type of engine oil that can be used in TBTS. Has anybody used this engine oil and should i go for it? again service station won't allow me if i ask them cause they have tie up with Motul and the local mechnic has tie up with castrol activ xtra 20W50

dude u can go for the E900 K&N filter. Thats a direct fit. No change required.
But bullet's factory filter are really good. not like pulsars filters. so u can go ahead and put the factory one only.

            • regarding replacement of stock filter, i have read in several places that if filter is replaced by a free flow aftermarket one, then we have to rejet the carb or sumthin ....... since dis is apparently only to revert the air -fuel ratio back to the original state, wouldnt it b more convenient if we could jst tweak around with the air-fuel screw ??

dis doubt has been bothering me for quite some time!!

Not aware of any such practice. You should enquire in other showrooms.

The E900 K&N filter is a direct fit for bullets ... no rejecting is required ...
But the fact is the company filters are a kind of free flow filters only ....
i have seen the filters, and they are not that different from the K&N ones.... RE has done a good job with the filter ....
If u wanna ask me, then i can say that don go for the K&N one ... its not worthy on a bullet any more , specially the new bullets ...

yupp, you are rite..i used an RC-1060 on my bike without messing up the screws and morning starts became a pain in the "u know where" and even after warming up, the pickup used to be sluggish for the initial 1-2km...though i loved the roar of the K & N . i removed it when summer started as it wud heat up the engine more.
well, there r various methods to increase the performance thru k & n, many suggest to go for a bigger fuel jet but i read somehwere that making the mixture rich by tweaking the screw works as well. very soon i'm gonna fit it back, tweak the screw and check the result

nopez..... im in hyderabad. n i booked at company showroom only, gave dd and currently in middle of 10 day waiting period

regarding k&n, i wont do any such modifications right nw...... simplest and best cosmetic modification i can think of for t'bird is to remove the backrest and replace handlebar wid std 350 or electra handlebar, i've seen such a modified bike on the road and it looks smashing!

                              • Initial Ownership Experience - RE TBTS

                                Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on Xbhp and I am excited by the same. I have been on Xbhp forum for last 4-5 months since I decided to buy a new bike. First on that I have is a 14 year old faithful Splendor which is still going strong. However, I wanted a bigger, better, faster bike, especially a one that I can travel a lot on highways aka cruiser for long rides.

There were 2 bikes on my mind ever since I decided to buy a new one. First one was Honda CBR 250R and second one was RE TBTS. I test drove both the bikes. Strong points for CBR were
                                1. Good acceleration
                                2. Smooth and very powerful
                                3. Update technology from a trusted brand

                                Low points for CBR
                                1. Sitting position. A slight forward stance, which I was not comfortable with

                                Strong points with TBTS
                                1. Excellent riding posture
                                2. Excellent torque at low end
                                3. Comfortable cruising at 80-90kmph
                                4. Very stable at cruising speeds

                                Low points with TBTS
                                1. Gear shift not as smooth as CBR
                                2. Not as refined at CBR
                                3. Light not powerful as you would like to have

Given my age and primary need to have a comfortable bike for long rides, TBTS was winner after the test rides apart from several blogs / posts on Xbhp on both the bikes.

The only hitch now was TB500 was announced and to be launched sometime soon. Then got to know it would be sometime in June 2012. However, after speaking to several veterans from RE stable, decided to go in for TBTS350 rather than TB500.

                                Dealer Experience
I approached a new dealer in Baner Kings Autoriders. Overall experience with them was very good. I booked TBTS sometime mid March. I was assured of delivery before March end. On 27th May, I got a call from the dealer that vehicles have arrived from Chennai and I can select the vehicle before they send it for registration. Post PDI and registration, I got the vehicle delivered on April 5 2012. Overall, the dealer lived to his words and things were very smooth.

                                Driving Experience
200 kms were completed within first 24 hours of delivery. Extremely comfortable bike. The "running in" of the engine was strictly adhered to for first 500 kms. The only issue with the bike was streaks of petrol vapor condensing on the petrol tank that escaped from Petrol tank lid.

For First servicing following things were requested apart from normal first service checklist
                                1. Light Focus. It was too short. Upper was somewhere you would like to have Dipper. Dipper extremely close to the bike.
                                2. Petrol tank lid issue

Oil and Oil Filter changed. Both the issues not taken care of. Focus was still an issue. Petrol lid was still an issue. I was told not to fill the tank fully.

The bike was a tad smoother than before. Average was 45+ kmpl. Fantastic. I never expected so much from the bike in the city driving.

2 short rides out of city and both the times, bike was rock steady. no backaches. One was to Lonavala - all the way level road and another one was from Pune to Velhe and back with one ghat included.

                                Tyre Experience

Got a puncture on third day after delivery. The guy washing the vehicle broke the news early morning. The guy from shop refused to come and I refused to push the vehicle. So it all came down to me getting the wheel removed from the vehicle and getting to puncture removed. Removing wheel was easy, but big pain area is that you need to support engine block. Either you need a wooden block or a big stone or simply car jack. I preferred to use car jack under the engine block. There were 2 punctures. Got them removed. Wheel back on the bike. Easy and simple.

Tip while putting back the front wheel on the bike : attach speedometer cable to the hub before tightening the axle nuts.

                                Modifications on the bike
After speaking to various members on the forum and reading through innumerable posts on lighting, I changed my stock 35/35W H4 (HS1) bulb to Philips Extreme 60/55W H4. I got it from Reliance Autozone and changed it self on the weekend. Adjusted the focus of the beam. Light problem seems to have been solved to quite an extent. However, I feel the headlight is getting pretty hot. Need to see if that affects the reflector coul or not. Fingers crossed.

Not yet decided on short bottle exhaust.

Will be changing the horn. Research in progress. If you have any inputs for the same, please feel free to share the same.

Bike as completed 800 kms till date and I am extremely happy that I made this choice. I am now looking forward to long drives post 2000 kms and second servicing.

Hope that you liked my first post. Looking forward to share my experiences with everyone and like wise from others.

                                take care and ride safe
