Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Push rods are used to activate valves. CBZ uses SOHC (almost every Indian entry level bike uses overhead cam setup). Below pic of the CBZ engine shows the cam chain and sprocket.Originally posted by motociclista.8 View PostThis is an old post. Anyone know what's pushrod?

For the vibes in engine and footpeg, try getting the camshaft, rocker arms and chain guide changed. Cost me 1400 and the bike seems less like a tractor. Another thing that matters is engine mounting rubbers, mine were not replaced tough. For a more hold-able top end for touring, a ZMA pushrod will do wonders(so says Praveen, who did it on his CBZ).

Thanks. Since Karizma and CBZ have SOHC engine, I'm confused about what's meant by pushrod in the above post.

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Even i will not recommend you to change your headlight as it ruins the classic look .Try to get a new replacement dome (i think it was 400INR) and install any 55/60 bulb ,as this bulb will consume more power so change all the cbz bulbs such as blinkers and other small bulb to led ,this setup will work great.I have a 2004 model cbz* and i am using this setup from long time, trust me there will be no problem .After 2.5k rpm the bulb wont have any flickering.I changed the dome installed Osram night breaker(60/55) ,changed all blinkers, position lights to LED bulbs, only caution i take is to switch off light when bike is idling to save bulb life as night breakers are quite costly.light output will be focused as cbz is not having multi-reflector but there will be day and night difference.for installing the bulb you need to change the holder as well, this any meachanic can easily do.Unfortunately I cant send you photos as i am out of India but can send when i will be back.Originally posted by metalghost View PostWell.. thank you. But I am not very keen in changing the classic looks of CBZ. So, I am looking for an OEM or even after market headlight dome/assembly. Has anyone done this?

Thank for the info. How do new replacement dome better the stock one? Where can I buy it?Originally posted by rawat97 View PostEven i will not recommend you to change your headlight as it ruins the classic look .Try to get a new replacement dome (i think it was 400INR) and install any 55/60 bulb ,as this bulb will consume more power so change all the cbz bulbs such as blinkers and other small bulb to led ,this setup will work great.I have a 2004 model cbz* and i am using this setup from long time, trust me there will be no problem .After 2.5k rpm the bulb wont have any flickering.I changed the dome installed Osram night breaker(60/55) ,changed all blinkers, position lights to LED bulbs, only caution i take is to switch off light when bike is idling to save bulb life as night breakers are quite costly.light output will be focused as cbz is not having multi-reflector but there will be day and night difference.for installing the bulb you need to change the holder as well, this any meachanic can easily do.Unfortunately I cant send you photos as i am out of India but can send when i will be back.

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Thank you for this info. Osram NightBreaker 60/55 is quite expensive. So I didn't go for it. However, I replaced the dome and yes, it worked to some extend. It is throwing some decent light on the road. I managed a Lumax dome and cost me Rs. 650/-, including labor. Even you can do it yourself, its no big deal. Meanwhile, I have some queries. Did you change from AC to DC for this? Do you face any heating issue since 60/55 bulb will spit out more heat than a 12V/35 bulb. I heard chances of wires catching fire is more since stock wiring of CBZ is not designed to take more wattage/voltage. Furthermore, does the alternator need to be rewound to withstand additional wattage the new bulb is drawing? My mechanic says, the holder can melt down due to heat from the bulb. Can you give me any guidance on this? Also, if you DC the bike, is battery draining out fast? I use a 12V/2.5A battery. Do I need to upgrade it?Originally posted by rawat97 View PostEven i will not recommend you to change your headlight as it ruins the classic look .Try to get a new replacement dome (i think it was 400INR) and install any 55/60 bulb ,as this bulb will consume more power so change all the cbz bulbs such as blinkers and other small bulb to led ,this setup will work great.I have a 2004 model cbz* and i am using this setup from long time, trust me there will be no problem .After 2.5k rpm the bulb wont have any flickering.I changed the dome installed Osram night breaker(60/55) ,changed all blinkers, position lights to LED bulbs, only caution i take is to switch off light when bike is idling to save bulb life as night breakers are quite costly.light output will be focused as cbz is not having multi-reflector but there will be day and night difference.for installing the bulb you need to change the holder as well, this any meachanic can easily do.Unfortunately I cant send you photos as i am out of India but can send when i will be back.

Any aftermarket shop. I hear Minda is also in market. But I preferred Lumax since I think HH/Hero bikes come out from factory with Lumax on them. Replacement works since even the quality of stock dome fades with time and starts looking yellowish. My original dome was looking like a fog lamp in front of the new one. We just don't realize it since we get used to slowly/gradually fading beam intensity. And when we suddenly compare it to a new dome, the stock one looks terrible. Get the dome replaced. You'll see the difference.Originally posted by motociclista.8 View PostThank for the info. How do new replacement dome better the stock one? Where can I buy it?

Since Osram NightBreaker 60/55 is pretty much expensive, how about Osram SilverStar HS1? I see Rs. 250-300/- on some online purchase websites. Any input on this..? Anyone..? Also, do both NightBreaker and SilverStar come with requirement of changing the stock holder?Last edited by metalghost; 03-06-2017, 12:28 PM.

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Its stock setup is 55w low beam and 65w high beam. I am running it on ac so cant turn on both beams at same time, but the illumination is better than any aftermarket setup. Wiring, switches are stock. I am using this almost for one year. thinking of making it full dc, big battery with ape or gixxer rr and some relays.Last edited by Darchorse; 03-07-2017, 10:25 PM.Big Power Comes With Big Responsibility

Your MOD gave answers to almost all of my queries/doubts. I think CBZ's wiring to headlight can take the wattage drawn by a 55/60 bulb. By the way, how old is your bike and also, please tell me about the battery you use - volt and ampere?

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Its 2000 year model. You can fit 55/60 w halogen in cbz. Its alternator generates 130w at 5000 rpm, mine 55w low beam glows to brightest at 2000 rpm. Change all indiators, brake light, speedometer bulbs with LED bulbs. Battery is stock 2.5 ah which is almost dead.Originally posted by metalghost View PostHello Darchorse,

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Thank you for quickest reply. One last doubt - Is it that "white" light you mean by "halogen"? I am not so keen in that eye-stabbing white light. It is really a nuisance to oncoming vehicles. I am just looking to brighten up the light a bit more, without causing trouble to others.Originally posted by Darchorse View PostIts 2000 year model. You can fit 55/60 w halogen in cbz. Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Halogen means regular yellow bulbs, never go for white light they are mostly led's nowdays. U have to do jugad to install 55/60 w bulb in cbz reflector. I guess 55/60w bulb needs hs1 or h4 socket. Any mechanic can do this jugad.Originally posted by metalghost View PostThank you for quickest reply. One last doubt - Is it that "white" light you mean by "halogen"? Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
Hmmm.. That's what I thought. I am not going for LED or any kind of white light. It's an irritation. Thank you for suggestions. Let me try 55/60W next. Let me upgrade the holder also accordingly. Will let you all know of the outcome.Originally posted by Darchorse View PostHalogen means regular yellow bulbs, never go for white light they are mostly led's nowdays.
