Hii everyone, i have bought used hero honda cbz old 2000 model... Servicing guy messed up the tunning of carb... I am confused about which screws to use for tunning, i got ideal screw rightly beside the accelerator cable. I guess AFR screw is located under the carb at front wheel side. Plz confirm me that this is the afr screw... Now problem is, when i kept ideal above normal and started to rotate afr screw clockwise i.e. Unwinding the screw from carb... The rpm should have to increase but there is no change in engine stroke and it remains at ideal... I took out the whole afr screw, i found it different from shown in workshop manual of cbz.. In manual its a pointed screw but mine is flat head. Anyone know in real which is a right afr screw and why rpm is not increasing?? Plz help me with this confusion...

the one which you see with a ?? is AFR screw. tighten is completely and then unscrew 2.5 turns and thats the optimal setting then tune the idle at 1300-1500 rpm.
also clean the carb properly. make sure the jets are clean both (idle and main jet ). those are hollow brass small pipes inside. if blocked dip it in brake fluid or carb cleaner and then clean with a wire."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
thanx all for your efforts....i decided to open and check carburetor thoroughly and i found that pilot screw(afr screw) was broken and sharp tip of it was stuck badly inside the carb and blocking all the air....till now thanks to idle screw carb was working.... removing of that tiny piece of brass was a hard task, it was merely a 1 mm thick.
wd40 didnt work,
stroking made carb smudged slightly created ine more problem,
then i boiled the card in water with 3-4 lemons squeezed in it (didnt work too but carb is looking clean and shinning like a new, best method to clean the card...dont forget to remove all plastic and rubber parts)
vacuum also failed
after googling found out an idea...grinded a small minus screw driver to 1 mm thick and very sharp at end, idea is to hammered screw driver on stuck part of pilot screw, get little bit into it and rotate screwdriver to make it loose....but it went wrong, piece got down more thought i messed up with carb now....but i tried again and pilot screw passage got opened and free but that piece got vanish inside lolzzz .. dont know where it gone..i checked all the vents by blowing air from them, all are working fine. got a new pilot screw, fitting perfectly in carb...tomorrow will install it in bike, hope all will go smooth nowBig Power Comes With Big Responsibility

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
sorry bro didnt captured any pics......
now about afr tunning from my experience i have observed that turning afr screw one turn, two turn clockwise, anti clockwise will not work on your bike. My cbz is working great on fully tight afr screw... spark plug color is brown
after reading lots of articles on net and tweaking with afr i have learned that dont mess with afr screw by your own if you are not aware of other factors of whole engine.
In cbz if we open the screw mixture becomes rich and after tightening it mixture becomes lean....Big Power Comes With Big Responsibility

2.5 turns unscrew after fully tightening is optimal for CBZ. if you are running stock jets and stock filters. running fully tight is running rich for sure..

After cleaning a sparkplug by mechanic bike started but today its giving knocking sound from around the engine while in first gear...what is the cause? also guide me for best spark plug for CBZ.
that sound is most possibly the cam chain tensioner which disappears once the engine heats up."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
[QUOTE=theironhorse99;1171321]2.5 turns unscrew after fully tightening is optimal for CBZ. if you are running stock jets and stock filters. running fully tight is running rich for sure..
in my case when screw is more than half turn our it became rich, black smoke and after burn in silencer and backfiring in carb also happened, carb was filled with black petrol and engine was getting super hot
now in between fully closed to less than full turn mixture was lean, loss of power, rpm was coming down very slowly or sticking at 3000k at signal halt also engine was hot..
in both cases spark plug was filled with black sooth carbon and idle was fluctuating. in morning it was less and after few kilometers it was rising...
all above issues gone after fully closing the screw.
maybe carb have some issues or due to worn out timing chain engine is not running good in stock settings..
should i open whole block to change timing chain with timing guides, oil seals, piston rings, decarbonization of piston, or just change timing change and tensioner...bike is 15 year oldLast edited by Darchorse; 09-03-2015, 09:45 PM.Big Power Comes With Big Responsibility

Re: Hero Honda CBZ Classic
bugger is asking 13k for it and it has disc in the frontOriginally posted by joshdsy View PostWell this looks like the non disk variant . Plus in a year it will come up for green tax . This bike would need quite some work done it . The front tyre looks bald .. my guess would be under 10k. 5-6k more like it .Kawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

Well honestly im considering selling my 2001 model and i was going to ask for 10-12.. you will have to bargin with him . And come to some comprises. Being a 14 year old bike there are bound to be issues.. it does not seem very well maintained. It seems ok .
