It is reassuring to know that spares are available. I think company continues to produce spares for 15 years from date of discommencement of production.
Anyways, could you give me your honest opinion on getting a 2nd hand CBZ with pros and cons?
I was myself an admirer of the bike's looks during my college days, just like many others.
I know that the sliding type Keihin carb has been replaced with a conventional CV type carb in the Star version, by virtue of which it offers more mileage, but at the cost of reduced accelaration.
I would like to get a long term review from you guys.
I think TPFC was still their in star version , it is just that that Carb was changed to CV type.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostThat's a news to me.

is it compatible.??
is der any noticable difference in performance......???
and lastly is der any illeffects of using it....???

Dude, I reckon that the free flow exhaust is of no good use. There will be a point where youll get fed up of the sound. There would be diffrence in performance as there is no restriction to the flow of gas. The one which is in your bike is the best one with the catcon. If you still need some more free flow you can always buy the second version of the cbz exhaust which is available in HH spare shop for 2700 bucks... One with bigger outlet and without the catcon....Some say that it has a good free flow with minimal restriction.....Aftermarket freeflow is available with KRP in delhi...You can check their side for details....Its something as gokrp.com...."At speeds of 160 Miles Per Hour or say 257.44Kilometer Per Hour You realize the actual speed of your life, Life is Supersonically Fast, Don't miss anything, cause you know it wont come back to you again"

TPFC panels
The TPFC youll find in HH spare shop...The star's TPFC panel is hard to get....But you can still get them on order....You can get most of the parts readily and all the parts on order....U'll just need to wait for somedays for the parts to arrive from gurgaon....Originally posted by Sarvajit View Post@All: My friend who has been crazy about this bike since the time it launched is finally planning to buy a 2nd hand Classic CBZ/Star, but he is slightly worried about the spares support, since it is no longer in production. Could anyone enlighten me on the same? I think the TPFC panels etc.were tough to source even when the bike was in production.
Also, what should be the average price he can shell out for a decent condition vehicle?
Or would it be better to get an old one&do the engine work replacing all components etc.?
Looking forward to your suggestions guys!"At speeds of 160 Miles Per Hour or say 257.44Kilometer Per Hour You realize the actual speed of your life, Life is Supersonically Fast, Don't miss anything, cause you know it wont come back to you again"

i difference i know in regard with cbz classic and star versions is the difference in chasis..Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThanks for the info Abhilash.

the cbz star's chasis is some kg's lighter than that of classic's and therefore it offers more mileage than classic...
rest everything from TPFC tecnology till engine is the same...
and both the carb are same sliding type keihin....
cheers!!!sigpic"ride with the angels"

somebody with the star can confirm this, but in the shortest of test rides I had of CBZ* i found the Initial pull to be lesser than of classic or was it my psychological effect ??Originally posted by rohitraghavan View PostThey have not replaced the slide type carb with the CV carb on the star variant, its all the same sans the dhideous stickering.
History:-
2000- CBZ launched
2003 - silencer replaced in order to meet emissions.
2005-CBZ Star launched
2007/08-CBZ XTREME launched.
And until now I thought that the ZMA, CBZ all had diamond type chasis..Originally posted by jatin_cbz View Posti difference i know in regard with cbz classic and star versions is the difference in chasis..

My Contribution:
The Classic had a top speed of 103-104(just over 100 kmph as claimed by HH at the time of launch) while post-2000/CBZ* was able to do 110+. Such a big difference cannot be there when the later models had a even restrictive exhaust. With cat-con taking care of emissions, the ignition might have been relatively retarded at higher rpms to achieve more torque at higher rpms to achieve better top speed with relative loss of torque at lower rpms. Basically, the power band might have been shifted 4-500 rpms upwards. Camshafts, I am not sure of. Without any change in peak power, perhaps, the camshafts are the same.
All other things are the same.
If anyone could find a way (other than replacing the stock CDI with a performance CDI) to retard ignition by 10 degree or so at above 7000 rpm, CBZ would be a totally different beast. Any info. on this count?Last edited by Technician; 04-15-2010, 02:36 PM.The Original CBZ

Yes, post 2000 CBZ is the best. But Star is not bad either though it had to take care of more stringent norms.
If the engine is not opened/modded, the machine will serve for many years to come. I have personally seen 8-9 year old engines totally sealed without any trace of oil and dust etc. Neatly kept.
But this is also a favourite of modifiers. So, steer clear of those models.
Do a simple check: drive the bike to 9000+ rpm in 3rd gear. If everything sounds OK, most probably the bike should be in good condition.
Also, the front starts acting nasty with wobbling and a tendency to wave around. Check for the same.
Rest -All is well.
