My name is Shridhar n i am from Pune, I own a feb-2004 CBZ star. she has crossed 33000Km mark on ODO. I read a lot about the unrefined engines of CBZ n its very low average but surprisingly i never felt such un-refinement in my bike's engine. It feels smooth like Honda Unicorn. It gives me average of 50-52 KM/l in Pune city's heavy traffic.. I ride my bike at a speed between 50km/hr to 60km/hr. Till now i have attempted 110Km/hr mark on my bike with pillion rider.. I havent modified any part of my bike. I just do service it regularly at HH showroom after every 3000Km. My bike feels awesome. I just love my baby... n still she can hunt down pathetic pulser n fancy FZ's with ease.
Well come to the CBZ elite group bro...

The new younger lot cannot lay their hands on this bike since it is not available in the primary market. Only the second hand ones, mostly in bad condition, are available. Even most of you posters here have purchased the bike second hand. Hence, no repeated and frequent posts. I think the thread will become a tool to help us maintain the bike in good stock condition with reasonable expenditure. Also in case, if any of us is able to increase the power/speed in a great way, there would be some interesting discussion.

Also, this bike was meant to be ripped (despite some harshness above 80 kmph). Down the line another few years, you would be able to tell your children that "I had once owned this beautiful and great bike"(in the Indian context).
      Indeed...Very true tech.....

kunjal singh one of our fellow xbhpian from delhi have used zma's engine in his
2001 model cbz.. i have never ridden that beast.. but according to him it is difficult to control cbz with zma's engine at higher speeds... and for that he changed his spokes and got zma's alloy and 130 section tyre (dunlop monster) at rear to make bike more stable at higher speeds... and now he again switched on to cbz stock engine....
according to me installing zma engine for parmanent basis is not at all a good idea because you have to change many things for that... yes for experiment you can do that..... anyways u can have zma's engine in city of meerut...

rest for more information you can anytime contact him......

i am thinking of getting it replaced with p200 handle bar
it will add more style and ride will be more sportier with that........!!!

            • Same here buddy....When I was in relation even she had....But now am alone with my baby(My 1st love). Did a 550km ride yesterday....with a pillon....It was all joy....Having decent domination over other 2 pulsar 150s...ug2...and 3 apache...1 old and 2 new ones...Did 115 on speedo....Drove over 100kmph mark for over 50kms....No problems...Just broke the oil seal of front suspension....bcoz of bad roads and my ride bumped in a huge pot hole....

It would look good.....never tried it.....but a guess is that apache's and new pulsars clip handles would look even more good.

                • the legend will never die

guys had a near fatal accident 2 weeks ago on ma cbz...the mech hadnt dne the front shokups properly due to whch dey get locked after a bumpy ride..was on the highway at around 10.30 in the night whn ma shokups went into a pothole& got locked..the handle started swerving badly..managed to tighten the grip on the handle but fell because of the shokups impact in the pothole..was dragged alonwith the bike for a good 20 metres and then i somehow managed to let go off the bike..the bike took a couple of summersaults and i too took 3 to 4 spins..was very lucky to escape with minor bruises...the point that i am trying to state here is that th bike started in d second kick and only the shokups went bad and the silencer plate came off beacause of the impact...goes to show the toughness and quality of this bike..it has given me all the more reasons to not sell it because after all it was the one that took maximum impact while trying to protect me as much as possible..the legend rocks!!

                            • @krrishi - Get well soon and ride safe.

Was there any hint of improper setting of shockers before the mishap. IF not, then most probably the shockers were OK. IF the springs are old, replace them.

A simple suggestion, change to ZMA front shockers' spring and the chances of any such woes would be greatly diminised. It is a simple money-saving, life-saving, hassle-reducing mod which also enhances bike's handling a lot. Around a month back, my bike went over a 1 ft deep Gadda at 70 kmph and came unscathed. I just had to stand on my footpegs.

                              Ride safe.

                              • @ maxx: thank you for your wishes maxx...will definetly follow all the suggestions that u guys are providing..and have made it a priority to ride safe even if am late..and in the proccess of buying gloves and kneeguards..my classic indeed is a screamer and for that matter evryone"s

@ jatin: thank you for ur wishes jatin...saw the pics that u had posted of one of ur rides..awesome is the word and very good riding gear..couldnt spot the knee guard..nevertheless nice pics...i am from mumbai the city that never sleeps..so i guess it will b difficult for the guys from banglore and delhi to meet up..but am still not losing hope..hopefully dat day should come soon

@ technician: yes before the mishap the shockups used to get locked frequently..when they go into a pothole or over a speedbreaker there is a loud thud sound that they let out..feels like the rim is taking all the impact..what could be the issue..and am shocked that the oil seals havent broken....will definetly try to implement your suggestion..any idea how much do zma springs cost??
Thank you all for ur concern and suggestions..rock on!!!!
