I am talking about all Classic models in general, they have a rev limit of upto 9500 RPM as set by the CDI you can't take it above that, but the engine is well capable of going above that red line..Originally posted by born2slow View PostWhich year model of cbz are you talking about. Mine is a 2002 model and i am not aware of a rev limiter.

I distinctly remember taking my bike to 10k the day I completed the initial 1k KMs on the odo
but then I may be wrong. But i dont think there is much use revving to 10k as torque quickly trails away above 9k on the stock bike. So why do you want to rev past 10k, my bike feels like its about to come apart above 9k .

I agree with you but the unrestricted does some more things in addition to removing the rev limit, it changes some timing curves, I am not a techie someone else can explain this better. Here is one eg. of a CDI swap on CBZOriginally posted by born2slow View PostI distinctly remember taking my bike to 10k the day I completed the initial 1k KMs on the odo

Jatin has put ZMA's disc set up.. but that is changing everything including caliper, alloys & all..Originally posted by harryhunt7 View PostCan anyone tell me if it is possible to put a bigger diameter disc plate in front for better braking while keeping the same caliper? Has any one tried this mod? I don't think we can put Karizma-R's disc plate unless we change to alloys? Any other Indian Bike?
Not sure if it is possible on current spokes set up with same calipers..sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

yes dude, abhi is very much right...Originally posted by harryhunt7 View PostCan anyone tell me if it is possible to put a bigger diameter disc plate in front for better braking while keeping the same caliper? i am using zma alloys + disc plate + front shockers
and yes if you want to switch to bigger disc plate. you need to change it to alloys because stock rim mountings are enough for stock cbz disc plate..
and it can not accommodate bigger disc plate...
and for alloys you need to change it to zma front shocks because stock cbz shocks cannot accommodate those alloys..sigpic"ride with the angels"

Ah, a CBZ thread!
Hi,
So glad my membership got finally approved! Was wondering if this forum also required a long essay in the application process like team bhp :P
Very happy to find an ownership thread for the CBZ classic. I own a 2000 model CBZ and will never trade it for anything else ever! My next bike will be a RE if ever the mgmt of that company realizes what Quality is!
I have my CBZ in stock condition. Was lurking on this forum for the last couple of weeks and due to this, I had ordered a NGK iridium plug (Rs.650 from DSG) which arrived last week from Pune. Two days back, thanks to this forum again, I went to JC Road in Bangalore (my place) and got a splitfire cable (Rs.350) for the spark plug and got the seat cushioned. They have not heard of MSD or maxspeed. Also, I got original HH visor and windshield and fixed em.
The bike is looking great now and feels very comfy
. Reg the performance, I got the splitfire and plug fixed yesterday and since one end would not fit directly to the unit (no idea what its called, located just next/below to the fuel tank), the mechanic cut a part of the old wire that was already connected and attached it to the splitwire cable. Bike started and worked fine.
Today took the bike to office. Every 15 mtrs, the bike would switch off that too on the ITPL corridor driving me crazy!! It felt as if the fuel tap was turned off or the engine was too rich. Only high revs would keep it from switching off.
Somehow manged to ride back and show it to a mechanic. When he sat on the bike and started, I saw some sparking between the blue splitfire cable and the engine heat sinks and told him. He immediately taped the junction of the cable near the plug and told me that that that sparking was making the engine to switch off.
The bike is fine now but I am not able to make out any difference in performance b/w the old plug and this contraption.
Asked 8-10 shops in JC road about Valvoline / Motul 20W90 engine oil. No one stocked it and told me that since demand is not there for these brands, i will find it very difficult to get hem in BLR.
Today got new grey side panels (above battery compartment). Will fix them in a day or two and make my CBZ look brand new again.

I am in love again...
My CBZ was neglected for like a month with dust & spider webs all over it. Leave it for another month and you could see mushrooms all over it.
Got it serviced recently and when it came out of the gym, boy was i drooling over it.
@ the gym:
> One of the front fork tube (inside the shocker) has developed a crack and had to be replaced. Oil was leaking from it which when we narrowed down found it was due to 2 harline cracks on it. 1300 rs for that part.
> Sprocket change is due @ next service (as per the doc)
> Rear brake is almost EOL. Need to be replaced @ next service (as per the doc)
Update":
1. Headlight cowl has developed a crack and needs replacement - 600approx
2. Plastic cowls beneath the fuel tank are broken too - 300/- approx
3. TPFC black cowl on the RHS (near the kick) is broken - 300 approx
Next alteration:
> will be removing that behind-the-pillion-seat rest
> removing both mirrors (i am not sure on this one as its a safety feature)
Will post some pics soon
