What difference did the conventional CV carb make over the sliding carb?Originally posted by nirvaana View PostBoth the CBZ classic and Star have same 156.8cc engine. Only the carburetor was changed from the Sliding Type carburetor to a conventional CV carburetor.
CBZ extreme has a 149cc engine also used in Unicorn and co.

I would really appreciate if you can help me find one OR give me DIY guide to build one. The weekend is coming up, so it will be easy to go around the city(Vadodara) and find the stuff.Originally posted by erich_here View PostSorry for the late reply. i designed it using a cars paper based filter. and its now easier for the bike to breath and doesn't wobble at high speeds due to lack of air in carb.

Pitch in !
Hi Sprinters !
A small list of queries -
1. My bike leaks oil on the side stand, the engine as far as i know has not been opened so far. I need to be able to park my bike on the side stand.( She looks hotter on the side-stand
)
2. Lighting issue - I'm in Vadodara and cannot travel to Thane for the coil rewinding. Any other HIGHLY RELIABLE contact in a radius of 100kms will be greatly appreciated.
These are immediate concerns. Please suggest.Once a biker, alwayz a biker !!

Not much apart from a slight hike in mileage at the expense of negligible drop in performance. May be it was done keeping the Emission norms in mind..Originally posted by CBZ View PostWhat difference did the conventional CV carb make over the sliding carb?
BTW ur bike in profile pic looks really neat

Okay. I rode a CBZ star once after I owned my Classic. I realized that the acceleration did take a considerable hit and the grunt of the engine was missing. The sticker job was uncalled for on the Star.Originally posted by nirvaana View PostNot much apart from a slight hike in mileage at the expense of negligible drop in performance. Thanks bro! I take care of my bike cause I love her a lot. No major work on her except for a few highlights. The saree guard came off instantly. The rear tyre is a 110/90 Zapper Q and the front is 2.75*18 Zapper FS (both filled with nitrogen gas). The rear suspension at level 2. Shell semi-synthetic 20w40 engine oil. NGK spark plugs. And servicing done regularly by my personal mechanic ONLY in Lonavla.

Hi
I own a CBZ star (2004 model).
My problem is the tachometer which is not working properly. The battery is working perfectly.
On idle it hovers around 6-7k and as soon as i accelerate it takes the full turn till the end.
Now whenever i go for a highway ride after riding around 100 km it works properly showing the correct idlespeed and rpm's.
Now that could be the problem? is it the wiring or the meter itself? Now this has been happening for quite some time now. even when i had installed the new battery.
Or should i just go on a new meter set. If yes then will it cost? I will be going for OEM, if that is the only option.

Alright, guys... Can anyone help me out in here..? I have a 2001 October Classic Silver CBZ. I got her in October 2010, after my Passion was stolen.. I rode her for a good 6 months before I gave her for a total restoration to a well known mechanic in Pune, but never even in my worst dreams expected he'd screw up badly and eat my money... I spent 10K but he did job of only around 6K... he was asking for 18K, but I never showed up in front of him after that.. Yes, he did a total paint job, including chassis and made her look like a brand new bride... But problems started after that.. She broke down the same night I got her back from the mechanic and had to tow her all the way back home... Chain broke in the middle the next day, got it replaced from another mechanic... But somehow she's doing good nowadays and manages to get stares when I stop at signals.. I'm proud to own a CBZ and I really take good care of her.. But, my problem is...THE DISC. First of all, the disc plate is of Extreme. It was there when I purchased her, the pad assembly is of Classic. I changed the brake pads soon after I got her and yes, I searched and found original CBZ brake pads for INR 1,216/-. But, right after that, the assembly started making sounds.. its not the usual squeaks, but something like "khad, khad khad...krrr..khad khad.." even when the tire goes into a small uneven surface on the road. I'm really scared some screw or bolt inside the assembly will get jammed into the ventilation of disc plate when I'm doing 70-80, the bike will stall and I'll be thrown forward on the road....
Can anyone help me out how to tackle this..? I showed her to Hero Honda authorized mechanic lately and even he couldn't find out what's wrong... He says, change the whole kit.. which is phew... around some 6K? Can't spend that more on her, guys.... Please help me...!!!

Okay! Show the bike in the Wakdewadi HH service center. And check if those guys can help figure out the exact problem.Originally posted by metalghost View PostI'm in Pune.
I'm from Lonavla (now live in Baroda). I can get in touch with my mechanic, a very knowledgeable person and you can show your bike to him. He will check it and let you know honestly what is going wrong. And if he says, it cannot be fixed and needs replacement, he is true. I can vouch for that. My classic has not been touched by any other person since the last three years.
There are a few things you should respect about him- he knows what he is talking about, he will not fake things, he will not cheat on you. Talk to him very politely. The only thing you need to do is - ride down the bike to Lonavla. Also, after examining if he says he CAN fix it and you are convinced about the approximate EXPENSES he quotes, you will have to leave your bike there.
AND YES, he takes his own sweet time (could be 7-15days). So, if you do not have a spare bike or cannot make arrangements for your daily transportation, please DO NOT ride to Lonavla.
P.S.: If he says he CAN fix your problem without much replacements, Trust him. PM me for his contact details ONLY if you have a SPARE BIKE !Once a biker, alwayz a biker !!

Well buddy, yes I have a spare bike. Let me go to the Wakadewadi HH service center first, as you mentioned. Let me try my luck there. I'll contact you if the problem still persists. If you're so confident with your mech in Lonavla, I'll take my baby to him if the Wakadewadi guys fail. And yes, my daily commuting doesn't even need a bike as my work place is just a leap away from my residence... So, no worries on that. One more thing.. If I could leave my bike with an idiot who took 4 months just to screw her up, I can leave her for 15 days with your expert in Lonavla on good faith... I'll keep you posted buddy, after consulting the Wakadewadi HH guys...Originally posted by CBZ View PostOkay! Show the bike in the Wakdewadi HH service center. Thanks and ton for quick reply... Just that, I love this bike too much...just too much... My friends were laughing their ass of at me when I purchased 2001 CBZ with loads of mechanical work on her... But you know it, I was smiling inside...
