Hello, do you have any idea on whether installing a K&N R1100 or similar air filter or any other air filter will hamper the original/authentic unique firing of CBZ or will it add to/boost it, giving more depth and pleasure-to-hear CBZ firing? Also please tell me, the firing we hear from automobiles, whether two-wheeler or four-wheeler, is the work of exhaust pipe or the air filter? Why I'm asking so many questions, because I'm madly in love with the authentic CBZ Classic firing which gives me an immense pleasure, every time I hear it in the morning when I rev her up. That magical sound of mixture of fuel-burning-firing-air-steel-and-i-don't-know-what, is really orgasmic and I don't wanna lose it at any cost.Originally posted by asim.mohd View Post

Well, I know there's no point in reverting to this post as its more than 2 years since you posted this. But I couldn't resist. What I'm trying to say is, if what my younger brother claiming is true, my 2002 Silver Classic did a 119-121 kmph while the needle stalled/shivered at 100-103 on the speedo. He attained this on his way back from Mahabaleshwar to Pune inside that one-way tunnel and for around 2-3 kilometers. He is precise about the speed because there was a Pulsar 180 with digital speedo along with him, which displayed 119-121 on its accurate speedo. Well, this was before I gave my CBZ in wrong hands for total restoration. Top end I saw on her after restoration was just around 105 kmph, when I was riding along with my brother who was on his brand new Yamaha SZR one night at 3 am on Pune airport road.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostNice bullet point review, so overall its a No Problem bike, huh?
Anyone else?
I heard it does about 120kmph on the speedo which translates to about 110kmph true. Is this right?
Also, the engine refinement is very low at higher speeds. How about lower speeds?
Heck, I think I'll just grab someone's bike&then come back with something!
Hope my friend gets a good bike.
How long do you think he can use it if it has already run 60+K kms.?
Edit: Just noticed the last post by Abhilash.
So how much did the engine work cost you buddy?
What I'm thinking is by this time, any bike he gets would have done 60+K kms.which would mean some engine overhauling necessary. Are the parts easily available in HH SVC&how are the spares cost?
For eg.if he gets a 2001 or 2002 CBZ which has done some 65-70K kms., how much would he be spending to get it back to mint condition?
I have already counted the following default expenditures:
Repainting: 2K.
Tyres: 3K
Battery, spark plug etc. 1K.
Engine&other work?

I don't think it's possible coz the FZ bar is too straight. If you notice it, the mounting point of handle bar in FZ is way higher than that of CBZ and not to forget that it might not be a direct fit either.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostIs it possible to install the handlebar of Yamaha FZ-S on CBZ Star? I think it will make me lean forward as it is a bit flatter than the cbz's handlebar.
Even if u install it it will be with limited mobility and too forward leaned.Contribute to the environment.

Thanks nirvana. Yes the mounting point is higher and yes it is straight and will be too forward leaning proving to be a pain on the wrist. So dropping the plan for the moment. Will stick with the stock.
But if anybody has any experience or done this modification please let us know the feedback.

Not seen any such mod yet. U can refer to ur local mech for more inputs. Alternatively if u adjust the stock handle u can lower it to certain extent. I did the same with mine.Originally posted by sunilyo View PostBut if anybody has any experience or done this modification please let us know the feedback.Contribute to the environment.

Guys,
Please suggest a good spark plug for the CBZ classic (2000 model). Have done 73k on it. No issues with the bike except for drop in top end performance. Anything above 70 and the bike starts screaming for mercy. Still love her though.Strength is measured in pounds.

Dunlop monster is best i am using it for last 3 months ,,,still looks like new and is very much nice rear looks,,,,,you can change clutch plates[400k set] for local one but go for oem parts,,,,,and oil change is a must during cluth plate replacement.Originally posted by AK3D View PostHi,
I own a CBZ classic (2002). I bought it used a couple of years ago, and have had fun riding it. It accelerates effortlessly and is a breeze to drive in traffic.
Of late however, I'm suffering from oil leaks around the engine head and the acceleration had dropped considerably as well. I believe I need to change the head gaskets. Should anything else be changed?
According to my neighbourhood mechanic (very reliable fellow), the CBZ's engine is alright, but he will need to change the clutch plate, as that is the cause of the low performance.
I am also changing the tyres, are the MRF Zapper FS for the front and Zapper Q for the rear good choices?
Also, since I want a grippier tyre, should I install a 110/90 instead of the 100/90 ? Will it make a huge difference?
The chain/sprocket set seems to be wearing out as well, so (I posted this in the sprockets thread, but perhaps someone might have some inputs here) would the chain/sprocket set of the CBZ-Xtreme be a direct fit? I would probably stand to lose a bit of acceleration, but would it be worth it?

Ngk Iridium spark plug is the best,,,,cost around 300k but good for performance and mileage,,,,,,check spark plug cable also,,,,if worn out buy ngk cable,,,just check your clutch plates if worn out you wont get initial pick up and clean carb+ air filter,,,,your bike is not getting correct air fuel mixture thats why vibration at top end bro,and cange oil to synthetic [10w40] for less vibration,,,,,,take care,,have a nice ride,,,,,

Thanks, the dunlop monster is nice. Its my current rear tyre, and nearly at the end of its life now. It lasts and lasts, however, its grip is terrible.Originally posted by lichin View PostDunlop monster is best i am using it for last 3 months ,,,still looks like new and is very much nice rear looks,,,,,you can change clutch plates[400k set] for local one but go for oem parts,,,,,and oil change is a must during cluth plate replacement.

Also, any chance of fitting a K&N air filter in our CBZ rather than that piece of sponge? I am planning to give my bike a complete makeover next month so it doesn't feel ashamed standing next to my C5
. Till now the bike is pure stock so I am planning to give it a new life and then use it for short city rides.

yup k came in between yaar,,,,just post your bike pic and i also wil do it,,,,K&N filter wil increase pick up but mileage wil surely reduce 5 kms min,,,,and theres chance of eating up more dust,,,,it also cost u around 3k so do modification in alloys,,,mat black painting for engine and if ur bike is black then white alloys,,,,if possible try a disk brake at rear,,,update ur modification bro,,,,Originally posted by The One View PostThanks for the info lichin but I really hope you meant Rs300 and not 300k else forget the spark plug

Even ceat is also good,,,,300 rs more costlier than dunlop,,,if that doesnt matter for u,,,go for it,,,,but avoid MRF and TVS,,,it is having more grip and comfort,,,,Originally posted by AK3D View PostThanks, the dunlop monster is nice.
