Yes CBZ's Headlight reflector is bad.. you can try FZ16 one but do not expect too much only from reflector change.Originally posted by gautam View PostI know the CBZ headlight reflector is bad, but has anyone thought of swapping the head with FZ16 ???

If you need better lighting you must be looking at coil rewinding + 55/60 or 90/100W bulb or go for HID's
Reg Filters - I have K&N without any Upjetting & very soon I m planning to remove itsigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Hi Guys .. I came across this thread today .. It's good to know that this thread exists for CBZ classic. I have a 2003 CBZ Classic with 23000 km in the odo. I have kept the bike idle for 5 years from 2005 to 2009 as I was out. I started riding it again from 2009 itself. The condition of the bike is good. I did some small changes to it myself .. I changed the stock plug to NGK iridium, modded and changed the airfilter to K&N and also put a original split-fire cable as the stock one got cut ..
.. Anyways, I did not do upjetting or exhaust modification as I don't want to loose the beauty and reliability of my classic. I also changed chain spoket set with a new stock one and the clutch too. Cleaned the curb myself and adjusted the tapit by an mechanic here at Kolkaka. Am good with the power delivery of the bike as I am not into speed run or stunting and mainly use the bike for weekend trips of 150-250 kms around Kolkata.
I am facing few problems with classic recently and seeking for your help here.
1. The stock lights are really poor and want to do something with it. I have few options but need your help in terms of finding the best suitable. Options are:
A) Change to HID - Cost is not the factor, but there are issues associated with it .. I need to convert the electrical to DC. Need to put a 9AmpH or 14 AmpH battery and for that need to alter the existing battery case. Also for charging the battery, perhaps needs to change the power direction from magneto to battery and headlamp. As for the existing setup, 2 points go to the battery charger and 3 points for the headlamp. Simply switching it won't help as it is not plug n play setup. If I don't do this, the battery will drain in couple of hours.Though the wattage consumed by HID is 35 but switching it on and off couple of times will choke the battery to death.
B) Change the magneto to generate more wattage so it can power 55/60 or 90/100 halogen. But there is no available plug n play magneto in the market. Only option is to rewind the coils. The issues associated to this is, it has to be done by a experienced electrician... for this perhaps 40mm gauge copper wire is suitable but am not sure. Currently, 34mm gauge copper wire is used for the coils. After the rewinding, I have to change the entire electrical as I don't think 7 year old wires are capable of handling the extra load. The biggest problem for this entire staff is finding a good auto electrician to do the entire job. I can start doing this by myself but perhaps it will take me a year to complete the job.
.. So, If anyone has any idea of an good auto electrician and mechanic, Please let me know.
2. My second problem is, after fitting the K&N, the engine has become lean, generating excessive heat and I am not able to fine tune it .. Need someone to help me fix this quickly otherwise it's gonna hurt the engine a lot.
3. Third problem is, both of the rims has some little bends .. and I am not able to find a good mach to fix it ... and it's also causing the fron disk to get a li'l jammed and sometimes given trouble to breaking too.
So friends these are my issues .... I know there are experience ppl here and expecting the reply from the gurus here .. Thanks a lot ..

Hello everyone, I too own a CBZ CLASSIC 2002. It's been a pleasure riding this bike since 2002, have done 53k kms and the bike is still smooth after servicing it regularly & changing new parts every now & then. I will be buying another bike by this yr end and will also keep this one
.
I have been following this thread for the past few days and am addicted t it now, I will be active on this forum from now on. I am planing to make the necessary & optional mods discussed here one by one. Thanks to all who have shared their tips/tricks & experiences in this thread.
My first change is NGK IRIDUM spark plug & splitfire cable
Have bought the plug online for 550+99 now I need to buy a Splitfire coil for it. I am confused with MSD & Maxspeed, was thinking they were same brand MSD short for MaxSpeed, but that is not the case MSD is actually Mitsubishi & Dodge I think, please correct me if I am wrong.
Question: I am looking to buy a MSD Splitfire cable, can anyone tell me where to get it from within India have tried 2 websites Sniper-auto & goforkrp but they have MaxSpeed , is MaxSpeed a splitfire? I am from Panchkula, Haryana nearby Chandigarh.
Can anyone throw some light on this? MAXX
PS. My next mod is the performance CDI which has already been shipped from overseas will take a few weeks to get here. It is meant for the USA Bike CRF150F 2003-2005 which has the same engine as CBZ as I learnt from MAXX & Joel's posts. It is suppose to give 1-3 Bhp gain as mentioned by manufacturer, lets see will post here once i have tested it.

1. For the Lighting according to me you can go for coil rewiding & put Round doom with 100w Bulb That should be better Instead of HID, becuase the stock reflectors are very bad
2. K&N - I think it is better to remove the K&N & come back to stock if you do not want to Upjet, I have done about 10k kms with K&N & without jetting & I do not see any difference, infact my mileage has gone for haywire
3. You can change both the rims & I think it shouldnt cost moresigpicAll India Permit 1+1

Hello guys! I'm a latest addition to this club!
I bought a 2001 CBZ classic last week!!

Sorry that I couldn't post more about it here 'cos i forgot my camera here at home.
I straight away took my bike to my college in Coimbatore after having my bike here for a mere half an hour after all the paper work was settled.
The first ride itself proved to be testing and the bike performed really well.
It had all the original parts and no modifications were done to its core expect for some candid sticker works, black alloys and wider tires.
It still soars to the 8 rpm mark effortlessly and after having ridden it for a week in Coimbatore roads, I feel entirely satisfied for the money I've spent on it.
The bike had a mere 30k kms in its odo and I took it from a reliable source, with whom I have spent almost two months in search for a CBZ classic ( or a Yamaha RXZ) and finally gave my mind on his own bike!
But the initial ride from Home to Coimbatore, which was my farthest ride so far; felt tiresome at some points mainly due to bad roads in the middle of a superb highway. I sat as a pillion for the first half of the journey and rode through the next half. And mind you, the pillion experience was rather Iron Butt'ing!
Will be posting the pictures and please tell me what you think from the pictures.
And yes, the bike's in red!
How cool is that?
