Congrats! But i am confused that you got a CBZ Classic as a prize for the competition you won and not any other bike!

MRF Zappers should be fine, i have those on my bro and they work great..

Dunlop monster, Ceat Vertigo Sports, Michelin M45. MRF meteor

I guess any of those would work perfectly for you & all the tyres will be in between 1000-1200 except michelin which may higher but I am not sure of the price.

I personally have Ceat Vertigo Sports 120/80-18 & I am very much satisfied with it.

Buy a BBR Big-Bore Kit...175cc...Bolt it on with the piston, piston ring...Etc...ALWAYS remember to check safe wall thickness on the cylinder...I guess you'll most probably need to resleeve your cylinder to get 67mm piston into it...and that thick 10.5 Compression ratio would definitely make you run for your money...Please note not to run on pump gas and never ever run it lean...Jet it to 115 main and 38 or 40 pilot..... Use High octane fuel only...Or you'll end up screwing your engine...

Thanks for this information, you seem to know a lot.. I might go in for Joel's power up kit (big bore & other goodies) as importing bbr bolt on kit might fetch some custom duty and will cost a lot overall too.

          • Increased spare part cost!!

yesterday enquired in wakdewadi(pune) showroom for front wiser assembly of cbz CLASSIC , they told me that it is availbable but cant sell right now, all computer systems have been switched off. also he mentioned that there may be 13 to 15 % increment in the spare part cost.

anybody found any increment in spares cost within last week? now its really confusing whether to buy OEM spares or not. i can get three wisers in same cost from local market!
            got bhp?? oh yeah..its Xbhp

            • Spares

Im facing the problem of spare parts as well. went to a HH Service Center in mulund(MAX MOTORS). The manager told me that they have stopped counter cash sales and spare parts will be given only if the fitting is done at service center . this is S***t man.

              • Hi everyone, I had a couple of questions

                1. How do we get the exhaust repainted properly, so that the paint does not come off due to heat? It has got all scratches and rust. I was thinking of using spray paint, can someone help.

                2. I had seen a mod on a Karizma-R speedometer in this website where the dials had amazing white back lighting with use of Led's im guessing, can someone point me to that thead.

                Thanks in advance.

I think the powder coating can solve your issue.

                  • Does anyone know which CDI does the CBZ Classic 2002 model use, is it AC or DC?

Check this video on AC & DC CDI's
YouTube - CDI Is It AC or DC

Need urgent reply as my shipment is on hold..

Also, Does anyone know where I can get the exhaust powder coated in chandigarh/panchkula/mohali?

Thanks, will look for a good paint shop now as can't depend upon local painter for powder coating they have more chances of messing it up.

                    • I have checked my CDi and it is big in size like the DC one shown in the video but has all 4 wires in 4 plug and all 2 wires in the 2plug, hmmm.

I believe it is AC, also one more thing the Bike runs even if the battery is disconnected, this definitely hints that the CDI is powered by AC. Or maybe I am wrong.

                      • Hello everyone. CBZ's CDI is AC for sure.

thanks a lot Technician for the quick response..

I am trying out a CDI swap with no rev limiter for a second time since the first time it did not work, lets see if it works this time with a different RACING CDI, I like to keep experimenting. I will share my experience later..

                          • ALso, Have some basic knowledge about CDIs for single cylinder bikes.

JP7 Simple CDI Motorcycle ignition system.

A very good article on Ignition and its effects.

What Happens When the Timing Is Advanced

Our dyno days show that there is a correlation between advancing the timing and an increase in low-end torque. In general, each 1-degree of additional advance seems to bring the torque curve back by around 100 rpm. By advancing the timing by 4 degrees it has the effect of delivering torque at 2,600 rpm that would normally be realised at 3,000 rpm. Of course, it has also been noted that top end torque is adversely impacted in about the same ratio.
Most Indian bike CDIs have six wires. Two wire connected to Ignition Coil (one live wire one ground); one ground wire coming from magneto; one Temporary earth wire used for rev-limiter as well as for ignition key; one wire each coming from Magneto side - one is main charging coil and the other is pick-up/pulsator/ignitor wire. So it is not difficult to identify different wires of different bikes. Five-wire CDIs have only one wire connected to Ignition coil, body of the bike working is ground.

Imported CDIs may or may not work depending upon different bikes but would do little to improve power that too by altering the torque curve.

                            It might help you.

Thanks for this, I will go through the information. I agree the Imported ones don't work most of the time. I will give it a last shot and then go for a bigger piston/bore for definite gains. Later do some more tweaking like you suggested a while back, the lighter flywheel rim.

                              • See, the CBZ is very detuned for making any serious power as compared to newer generations of 150-180 cc bikes, due to many facts, but most importantly the fact that it uses a head and breathing system designed for a bigger 200-223 cc engine. The velocity in ports remain low and the result is low power coupled with the desire of the Honda to extract more mileage in the Indian version.

Take it to 174-190cc region, it would be a totally different ballgame. Consider 18 RWPS from a 174cc / 10k rpm engine versus 19 RWPS from a 251 cc /10k rpm engine at their respective bests.
