Eventually it ripped off the original paint as well at the silencer bend pipe! those guys cooly say they cant do anything now! Those guys have painted Surya's P150 silencer dozens of time, nothing happened. Will see if someone does a proper powder coat stuff!
RTR's silencer pipe, sareeguard&crash guard are all powder coated. If you wanted to repaint those parts, you would have had to scrape out the entire powder coat&then go for a normal paint.
P150's silencer is not powder coated, just normal paint. Therefore no problem.

Bajaj! Saw it while they were sticking it onto a Ninja! There were three Ninjas which had come for accident repairs!
7K for a sticker! Damn, thats expensive!
&to think I was cribbing about paying Rs.600 for my R15's LHS panel coz the sticker was gone!

Like I said earlier, I have got my metallic brown Verna touched up there thrice, the color matching&finish was perfect. You are welcome to see their job on my car/bike.
Other than that, they have lacquer coated my Fiero F2 completely, repainted my friends' red RX135, silver Activa&also touched up other friends' silver Honda City, grey Indica&maroon R15 all in my presence&to their complete satisfaction.
He gets the color shade matched with a computer&has never messed up. Rest is upto you-if you don't wanna take the chance, maybe you can look for a car painting garage where they have a painting booth etc.

Congrats. Where are the pics buddy?

I was quite surprised when the accounts guy at probiking showroom told me that i would be charged 2.5% extra since i'm paying by credit card
& ofcourse that 2.5% was not added on the invoice?? neither was there a board that said 2.5% extra will be charged if the payment is made by credit card.
Common practice, but generally the bill should be given for the entire amount.

I guess have spent around 33K on the bike including my helmet cost...guess will not be spending any more except for one last thing i need that is riding jacket. does DSG have a mesh jacket? I guess a mesh jacket won't be that hot right?? Thanks.
10% of the bike's cost on gears-sounds good enough. Buying good gear is better as in our cases its a one time purchase.
DSG has a mesh jacket called Maze, for about 6K. Cramster Breezer 2.0 is another option, slightly less expensive. What you see in my avatar pic is the old Breezer.

    @malliah: Thanks for the pics!

Bajaj was courteous enough to give 3 litres of petrol and the phone numbers of the service manager. Rode it from Shivraj to Aundh and filled up a full tank on the way.

Since it was a three day weekend, took it out for a long drive to Ganpatipule via Khopoli>Pen>Mahad>Chiplun. The handling of the bike was awesome. I was maintaining under the 4K rpm throughout and a strange phenomenon did happen after Khopoli. THere were a series of bumps around 50 metres off each other. Failed to spot the inital bump and on braking (without changing the gear) the bike automtatically dropped a gear from 6th to 5th!! Did any of you experience such things??

The ride to Ganpatipule was uneventful thanks to the 60 Kmph speed limit and other ppl on the ride were calling my bike a "Baill Gaadi". After 450 kms we reached Ganpatipule and went to the beach and had some good fun. THe waves there were extremely strong and was getting thrashed on the beach often trying to time the wave

Left back next day afternoon to Pune and somewhere close to Sangameshwar the fuel lamp began to glow and I again filled up a full tank (14 litres). On calculating my mileage I found it to be a whopping 36.33!!! (Thats more than the figure being claimed by Bajaj!!).
Guess there is something wrong with my calculation here but I cant get whats wrong!! Some one help me here
My first fuelling was at around 15 kms. I had managed to put in 14.86 @ full tank at that fuelling. After doing 530 kilometres refuelled it again full tank by 14 by shaking the bike repeatedly so that the maximum petrol could go in. That mean there were 3 litres remaining. Which implies the total usage was 3+14.86-3=14.86. 530/14.86 = 36.33!! Can u believe it???
        Neither can I!!

Around Pen, the FI light came on and it was not disappearing even after switching bike off for a prolonged time. Called up Kiran Devekar and he said nothing to worry, there is a back up system in place. Even if the bike gets shut down, you can call me and I would assist you. That was pretty reassuring . He even suggested me to get to the Vashi Probiking. Kept the rpms really low and managed to get to vashi by around 2045 hours. That was really late and the service centre had closed by then.

Didnt face any problems after that on the ride to Pune from Vashi today (Sunday) but the FI light still remains on. Am getting the bike to service centre tomorrow to get the bike checked up. Any of you have faced similiar experiences ???

        36! Thats great buddy..

I am getting about 28, with 50-50 of city and highway ride..

The FI light is supposed to blink/stay on (as per technicians at Bajaj) when there is a problem with sensors of the bike. Hence, as per technicians, one is supposed to visit the service center if the FI light gets/stays on.

          • Hey I just saw one of the other xbhp members posting a picture of the engine oil they put into his Ninja at Kirti nagar Delhi PBK. Wrong oil, though right grade.

Major screw up if that is what they are pouring into the Ninja. Should be Castrol Activ Extra 4T (Mineral or semi-synth) or Valvoline equivalent. I am pretty certain Castrol GTX is not JASO MA2.

Came back last night from Gokarna Beach around 500km from Bangalore. The ride was awesome.

My bum still hurts... finally I know what Saddle Sore means.

Did a lot of bending in Ghat section of the route. Luckily my friends in the Scorpio took some cool pics.

Will post as soon as I get them.

Does Servo make 20W-50 4T for motorbikes? I did not know they did.

I was proven wrong !! The feel and the noise you are percieving is CHAIN JUMPING.

If I ride my Ninja at or below 4k RPM it does dish out a whooping 35kmpl mileage. You are in break in phase and its great to see the engine being broken in nicely !
After the run-in phase I would try it to see what it really is??? BTW when u mean chain jumping, do u mean slipper clutch on the Ninja

Took her to the service centre today for servicing. Well they were shocked to find the bike back for servicing after 3 days . Guess they didnt expect bikes to turn up for servicing this week as they were short on oil filters. So they did the maintenace checks, chain lubing and stuff like that. Would call up when the oil filters arrive in a couple of days.

The FI problem was related to a blown up fuse for the radiator fan. It was pretty simple to find out the cause for the red light.
                            1) Open up the rear seat and find an unconnected wire with the green end on it.
                            2) Start the bike
                            3) Short the green wire against the metal panel under the seat (the silver portion) and see how the FI light blinks. It would blink slowly for sometime and then rapidly for sometime. Count the slow ones and the fast ones. It was 5 slow ones and 6 fast ones.
                            4) Refer to the service manual which says about the blinks. It said problem with the radiator.
                            5) Check the fuse for the radiator near the seat. Its clearly marked as to which fuse is for what. They even have two fuses as spare inside. On checking this the fuse was found to be blown. It was replaced and the FI light was gone

They tried checking the circuits using ammeter all across the bike and was unable to find the exact reason.
The explanation offered was because of high temperatures the fuse might have blown (My temperature needle never went above the centre mark in the whole journey).
After another 40 kms of ride it seems to be working perfectly fine at the moment. So am keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

BTW has any one managed to fix a crash guard/frame slider on the Ninja so far???
I would badly need one. In fact there is slot only on one side to fix a crash bar. Wonder about the otherside

                              Useful information, thanks for sharing!

I have seen a few people put frame sliders on their bikes. In case of Shogun, you would have to grind the top of the sprocket cover on the left side. In other frame sliders, you just need to replace the engine mount bolt with the aftermarket one, but I don't recommend those types. Shogun is the only one which seems ok to me.
