There was a discussion on this earlier too.. Although I don't mind it but it was slightly disturbing when I saw higher cc bikes (Likes of R1) with a provision of turning off the headlight.

Edit: I saw one with headlights off, so i am assuming that R1 has on/off switch.

the ninja we have in india is the UK spec vehicle ...for safety there is no option of turning the lights off considering the cloudy weather in the UK. Infact at higher speeds ..above 140kmph i feel the lights on is always a good idea...since other vehicles & people walking on the road can spot you quickly.

            • One light means low beam, and both means high in the Ninja too??
and it runs on permanent low beam AFAIK.

When the ignition key is turned to ON mode, the parking light is on.
When the engine starts, low beam (one side) glows&keeps glowing as long as the engine is on.
No pass switch-there is a switch to toggle between low&high beam, so they use it for flashing.

Good to know that i am wrong..

Is it recommended to use the engine kill switch at the signals? As with that parking light is still on and it consumes battery.

Nope... if you use the engine kill switch the low beam would remain on .. which will consume more juice from the battery.

Only use the kill switch in case of an emergency... for normal stuff use the ignition key.

                            • After a "short" waiting period of 150+ days, I finally got my Ninja 250R on Thursday March 25.

I had booked bike on October 23rd 2009. Promised delivery in 135 days, however, it took a bit longer than that. It all seems so long ago now, after just one ride on the bike, all the trials and tribulations associated with the waiting period stand vindicated.

Got a call from BK around 18th March, asking me to pay the balance amount (which, by the way, as gone up a bit after the budget).
I was in office that day busy with some work, so I promised to pay the amount the next day.Went to PBK the next day, paid the amount by cheque and gave them the documents required for registration. After finished all the formalities. They told me I would get the bike by Thursday/Friday next week.
These last few days were going to be tougher than the last 4.5 months.
Got a call from the Shirode Auto Pune, who actually deliver the bikes, on Tuesday, to notify me the bike was ready and can be picked up anytime. This
was great. I felt like just going over right away and picking it up. However, I kept myself in check and told them I would pick it up Thursday afternoon.
The next two days flew by.

Picked it up on Thursday around 4 pm. On the very next day , Friday, went for a ride to Kolhapur. So far have done about 600 km on the odo. Will post my ownership experience in later post. For now, here are some pics.

                                What he said ^^

would you kick agaisnt the battery of your PC to turn it off ?
Dont use the kill switch to turn the bike off ! EVER ! Not in when you are parking it in your garage.

Turn the ignition off...then operate the kill switch to its off position.

@Hyperion : Awesome Pics....a fresh new Ninja is something else ! When they still have those plastic covers on it and when its wrapped up in foam and stuff ! ahhhh I want my Ninja to be the same again. Enjoy your Ride dood !
