The radiator fans starts to spin when the temp needle goes up to 75% of the mark. For the bike to stall, did you slip the clutch and/or were you in the correct gear? Did you accidentally turn off the engine via the red kill switch on the right handle bar?Originally posted by senthildsk View PostI was told that radiator fan starts spinning only after 103 degrees temperature... was there enough petrol(atleast 4 litres) in your bike?? If there is less petrol in the bike then maybe the fi system might have sucked in the air due to which the engine got stalled.Originally posted by senthildsk View PostHi Friends,
I'm new to Xbhp forum. I'm a resident of Chennai & I took delivery of my Ninja 8 days back.
It's has been going pretty smooth except some issues yesterday. I was riding in extremly slow traffic condition coupled with rain, mud & slush.
I think the radiator fan started spinning at some point.... (not sure). Bike jerked for sometime & stopped suddenly. This happened 3 times. I took it Probiking today for a checkup.. They are claiming that everything's fine....& increased the idle RPM...
I was told that radiator fan starts spinning only after 103 degrees temperature... Is it true ?
Did anybody faced similar problems? Please share your experiences.
Thanks

I guess, the bike should've been in a higher gear.... nothing much happened today...
Though the radiator started couple of times..

is there a possibility that a little water/slush entered your silencer pipe thru the exhaust during this ride when your bike is idilling in traffic? this can also happen if a four wheeler splashes some muck on to your sliencer area. in this case the bike is prone to stall when you give the throttle.
ninja is not a all terrain vehicle. may need sort of VIP treatment is my opinion. owners are yet to digest the fact that ninja is not a street bike but a track bike which can also be used on the street.
you are the best judge. thanks for sharing the info senthil.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

your engine oil will loose all qualities over time about 6 months for mineral oil, even if the bike is kept idle. this is true for your air filter, break pads, and break oil etc. ( clean, adjust, replace etc as the case may be)Originally posted by Night_rider View PostDone 4.5 k kms on my Ninja....
The service booklet says its servicing is due at 6000 kms...but the PBK service center guys are asking me to get it serviced as it`s been more then 6 months....
I had an argument on this as there is no mention of the time.....He said sir plz read it carefully it says that if ur riding ur bike and dusty and hot conditions u should get it serviced it in shorter duration....
What you guys think about it.....????
get your bike done up. its always the better option of your 3 lakhs + bike.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

I had faced a problem similar to this. In my case, the bike just vibrated when the radiator fan started. The bike didnt actually stop. Later, Vishwas brother pointed out that it could be due to mud clogged radiator and its fan. I am yet to show it to pro biking guys.Originally posted by senthildsk View PostHi Friends,

I am guessing if we get the bike cleaned and washed properly, this problem should not occur again.
More views on it are appreciated.

Unlike the R15, the Ninja does not have a engine cover. So driving thru muck/mud does splash a good amount on the exhaust pipes, the engine block/cylinder etc.
Also the front mud guard dones not cover the tyre properly towards the rear half, which causes a lot of mud to be splashed on the radiator in a straight line, bang in the middle of the rad.
So you need to wash this muck out ( only when the engine is cool enough ), and it will ensure that your engine runs cooler ( especially the mud on the block/exhaust pipes.

its a street bike first and can also be moderately used at the track ! Is what I think of it for it can also be a heavy duty sports tourer in India.sigpic

Thank you all for the replies.....My guess is the same as yours.... There's a lot of mud splashed around the engine & radiator area...Originally posted by jd666 View PostUnlike the R15, the Ninja does not have a engine cover. Yesterday, I tried to clean it by spashing water on these parts...(When engine was cold... of course
).... It's stuck like leeches...
I'm going to handle it professionaly... I'm planning to buy Bosch Aquatak 100-High pressure cleaner tomorrow
. I'm scared of giving it to ordinary car washes...

WHAT?????Originally posted by senthildsk View PostI'm planning to buy Bosch Aquatak 100-High pressure cleaner tomorrow

Dont ever ever spray water from a pressure pump on to the radiator. The fins can get damaged and since these fins are made of aluminium they bend and damage very easily.
Do this and the fins can bend and block air passage causing more damage than good. You will be looking at a huge repair bill probably even a replacement of the radiator if the damage is severe.
Use plain water from a hose to wash the muck away... a very soft brush like a baby toothbrush can be used with mimimum pressure on the fins. If the much still remains, go to the service center.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

n_aditya..... I'm never gonna spray directly into Radiator....I know they are very delicate.....Originally posted by n_aditya View PostWHAT?????

I'll be covering them with some plastic sheet & clean other parts of the bike... I'll use ordinary hose water pipe for radiator....2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R
