for me its a reminder to be more careful and not to do things casually. my casual attitude has resulted in this, by the way its the second time for me. first drop already reported in this thread way back.

Sorry to hear about the fall , but this is a similiar way that i had my fall a month back..

So may be a word of caution for the others too ,that take care while taking tight turns.

Add me to the list too...it seems to be an outcome of tight turns at slow speeds...made me add the frame sliders as a precaution as I ended up bending the right handle bar inwards...

      • Most sportsbikes have tight turning radius'. The supersports are even tighter to turn. Always ensure that you take a wider turn at slow speeds and leave your feet dangling so you maintain balance. Never accelerate while the handle is completely turned to the side as the CoG is at its peak/threshold.

Infact i went through the exact same thing on the second day after i got my baby! although i didnt have any luggage (which i'm sure would have made it much more difficult to control). I didnt come out with this thinking that others would take me as a noob! I can still recollect what had happened...i was taking a U-turn very casually without putting my leg down and then all of a sudden an auto going in the wrong direction (heading towards me) and he was trying to get close to the divider so they can escape from the traffic police and so unfortunately i broke and my handle felt amazingly heavy and i realised i was going to hit the ground (albeit at under 15kmph)! i then plonked out my right leg and changed my right grip on the handle bar (from palm facing downwards to upwards) to pull the bike with all my strength and all the while i had to skip my left leg to try and fully stop the bike from moving forward...i somehow managed it successfully but later realised i had pain in my right buttock and shoulder!

From that incident, i have always made a conscious effort to take a larger turning radius and if the need arises, to be able to support further witht he help of my legs!!!

                1. Leave both my feet dangling, so even if I start to tip, I can use my feet to get my balance back
                2. Take a larger turn radius

the front as both legs are down.

Even a superman can't stop this with brute strength. Only thing that you can do is put out your leg while taking tight turns at walking speeds.
point taken.. for me its a lesson learnt to be cautious on slow turns with handle locked and you apply your front brake for a sudden stop with a tilted bike. i take this all as part of the learning process and hopefully correct my riding habits.

                  • So, the Ninja gets any problem in fairing like crack or scratch when it falls normally on ground while standing?

Not sure about others but I tend to feel hesitant, thinking in my mind that i can make through since I lean more during cornering. What i forget is the speed, how less it is from when cornering. Maybe I should start practicing to put my leg down at turns deliberately.

While doing very tight turns on the Ninja 250, like at a traffic U-Turn, make sure you extend your leg way up front on the turning side instead of keeping it dangling or in the center.

Remember that the bike is moving forward. If you keep your feet in the center when you start turning, the position of your feet will end up being towards the rear wheel and when you start tipping over, you will not have time to move and prop it up front when the bike starts falling on its side.

There is nothing wrong with using your leg while turning - I use it 100% of the time I take tight U-Turns.

                      • Thank you all for the above mentioned tip on how to handle the bike while taking tight turns with low acceleration. To summarize the points as below, correct me if I'm wrong,

                        1) Ensure on keeping your leg down.
                        2) Keep the leg forward.
                        3) Take the turn with wider radius.

again sorry i know i am just here to learn i think i should just see this thread visually and make my next post once i get my bike. and i have a doubt when it says max power -' 78bhp at 7000rpm' . what does that mean.
Hi! F.I - I totally understand your enthu as I felt the same about bikes, ever since I was in school. Don't be bothered by what the seniors have said and there's no need to back down. Just think of us, as elder bro's, who might admonish and make fun but will also teach. Keep asking and keep posting never mind if its stupid. Everyone's learning!

'78bhp at 7000 rpm' is indicating the max power and not the max rpm. It means it delivers the peak power of 78 bhp at 7000 rpm. Does'nt mean it redlines there, it can keep going beyond that in terms of rpm but the power has maxed is what it means.

first thanks for clearing my doubt. and second i ' m not in any way bothered or upset . u learn from your mistakes. i took the seniors advice in a totally positive manner. i just felt it would be more appropriate if i post after i have my bike. but anyway i decided thats a stupid move after the morale boost you gave me. thanks a lot.
