• Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

I bid adieu to my ZMR after 2 years last month. I write this post from the USA.

After my final long trip on the ZMR

I'm proud of my driving record. No skirmishes, no falls. It was only during the last few months that I really got to know the bike well. I learnt to change oil, spark plug, air filter, lube chain. Till then I was just considerate of the external appearance. I also got my self better riding gear. Feels like its all ended too soon...[emoji20]

Hoping for new and better things here... I just purchased my favorite car. Will give it sometime before I get back on 2 wheels.

I want to thank this community for all the great advice I received these 2 years. It will be very to hard to find one like this going forward.

i tried it when it was cold. haven't tried when hot. cannot able to keep my hands there when hot.

only two possible doubts are either it fell off or it got stolen. I'm sure it cant fall off because its screwed in so tight, and I didn't hit any pot hole or any thing. So more chances that it got stolen.

Also, the hero showroom which we enquired also told us that they had a complaint that another sensor was stolen like this a week ago.. But i'm not sure how far he was true..
No way a O2 sensor can fall off...it is tightened enough to stop gas leak from threads...Further the connecting wire end sockets are with locking, so even if the O2 sensor comes off loose it will dangle by the wire, and as it gets loose you will hear the loud exhaust leak....anyway Kmk...bring the vehicle to my residence after a phone call, and we will take it from there..

Keep visiting the forum sarkartheruler. And best wishes for your future!
kmk0311, did you give your bike for service recently? Anyways, take it to the doctor (read Raghavan sir) ASAP!

Meanwhile, I have completed 66.2k kms and I feel she needs some diagnosis.
To all - Assuming my tappets are fine and fibre parts tightened/douple taped etc, if I get some teeny tiny noise (maybe placebo too, but lets assume it's a valid sound) from under the tank at about 4500-5000 RPM with a pilliion, what is that noise? I hardly hear it riding solo.

Also, I hear faint knocking type of sounds in long B2B traffic, like 2 hours of crawling traffic. I obviously DO NOT lug the engine.

I plan to anyways do the following soon:
1. Tappets adjustment.
2. AF change (Out of stock in BLR)
3. Spark plug change.
4. Tappet cover oil seal change.
5. Clutch side oil seal change.
6. Timing chain check.

How to identify a worn out timing chain?
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Rubbing compounds are abrasive in nature. They should be used to cover small scratches. Detailing should be done with wax!
Did you attempt polishing with rubbing compound?

Take a damp cloth and wipe it off in circular motion. Apply car shampoo if needed.

Omg!! You used rubbing compound as wax?? Damn! That must have damaged your clear coat I guess alcohol can remove it. Because they use alcohol to wipe the tank before sticking tank pad in order to remove any wax layer present. Just my opinion/thought. But please wait for seniors advice before doing anything.

Man you used rubbing compound as wax. Damn.

To remove it use alcohol(surgical) and wipe it. It will remove the traces.

After using alcohol and cleaning the tank use wax to coat the tank.

If this doesn't work then will tell other methods.

As for the noise check the fuel float bolts and also check the round rubbers on which tank is mounted. Over years they get hardened and make slight noise.

As for the knocking sound when the engine gets hot then its not knocking but pre-ignition.
Your bike is at 61k kms. So naturally it will be having carbon deposits in combustion chamber.
So when the engine is getting hot these carbons also get hot and thus when you are opening throttle to pull the excess fuel sprayed is burned by the hot carbon.

Solution is to open the head and scrap the carbon from combustion chamber. while you are at it polish the valves.

Yours is Fi bike so it ran 61k kms before showing signs of head carbon. If t would have been carburetter bike then it would have been from 35k kms.

Phew, after a long time xbhp is back to somewhat normal.

Ok, so I was on my way for an interview last weekend in Gurgaon.. I was nearing the toll booth and I got a call from a friend saying he met with an accident. I asked for location and he was some 6-8 kms from where I was.. I took a U Turn and picked up speed.. riding at 90-110 kmph.. there is a place for U turn under a bridge and I slowed the speed to 75 kmph and I saw a car taking a U turn.. Thinking he saw me, I didnt slow down. That idiot took the U turn and started crossing the road without seeing if any vehicle is coming.. i pulled the brake levers tightly and managed to slow the vehicle to 30 kmph but that wasn't sufficient.. I T-boned the car.. I was so angered and frustrated. I picked my bike up and took it to the side.. checked for damages to my bike and found it negligible.. then i noticed my right index finger paining.. I pulled out the gloves to find the finger cut (deep) from right till the bottom of the nail bleeding heavily.. I was so outraged I wanted to punch the guy on his face.. The guy comes out of his car and starts abusing me. I was like ***king a$$**le, you are crossing the road on the highways without looking to the left on who is coming.. he sees his car and says you have caused me some 4000/- damage.. I showed him my bleeding finger and said look at what happened because of your carelessness.. I urged him to take me to the doctor and he refused and he said that will cost you some 100/- and look at the damage you have done to my car 4000/- I figured out i was wasting time with a loser..

Thankfully, there was a mechanic shed nearby. they all came and the mechanic named "Shankar" took me to the nearby clinic as I wasn't able to move my right hands and was with me till the time I had the small operation on my finger done..

Now since i was given Local Anaesthesia, I didn't have any pain and I was able to ride... I went to meet my friend who met with an accident and his bike was all screwed up and Thankfully he was fine..

After i reached home, I was wondering how only my index finger got cut and nothing happened to the other fingers..

I recently purchased those chinese after sale adjustable levers and I have the habit of keeping my index fingers inbetween the lever and the handle.. the levers are too sharp due to the impact my finger got cut.. Thanks to the Dainese Leather gloves my finger wasn't chopped off..

I got the levers changed back to stock and I realised my foolishness.. Stock is always best..

I am fine and my finger is recovering.. the flesh has been removed upto the nail and the nail has been completely removed.. hoping to recover in weeks time..

P.S Please don't go for those crazy adjustable levers...
