Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Its been quite a long time since i post anything on this thread. Ghosh ! I had a lot to update.
The odo of the bike stands at lil under 17k kms. Last week had a ride to surat from mumbai & return, a total of 600 kms trip in a single day
. Bike didn't disappointed me at all if i ignore lack of power & vibes. All this on cone set which was due since from long & on the stock tyres which are mfg in 2011. Though the tyres had cracks but the trust on mrf was unshakable. (call me moron for that
). Throughout this ride i was thinking back in my mind that anything may go wrong, but thankfully i ended up completing safe & sound. It was a memorable ride for me as this was my first time with the bike so long. Though way back the chain became way too loose, is that normal ?
Come to next week gave my bike for replacing the conset, I also change the acc cable as some helpful soul from here advised me long back when i pick this bike & boy-o-boy ! the bike just shoots now. I believe the lack of power could be due to worn out acc cable as before this, it used to takes ages to pick up the speed & now it just fly. Total bill came of 1300/- including some threading needed to be done at the end of wheel which mech said the handle was hard & to turn it light, he has done rethreading. (No idea what he was talking about but I agree with him that no work was done on bike before it was in the hands of previous owner). Post conset bike runs smooth on the undulations/potholes, & talking on smoothness, I changed my oil to Motul 7100
. I used to change oil consistently with shell helix 10w40 @ interval of 2.5k kms, but as one my good friend was so hell bent on me trying motul, I gave a shot. I am happy new oil. Bike revs freely, & the slight buzz at 4k rpm is now dampened. Just did a ride in mumbai for 100 kms & I am happy to report that the extra money spent on motul is worth it. Last time I bought Shell 380/- whereas for motul I paid 700/-.
Next work on the bike would might be sparkplugs - NGK 8EGP preferred, handle grips - dire need of an hour !, tyres - Michlin city pro for front & sirac 110/90/18 rear, HL bulb upgrade to 55 watts - I have few of them lying with me, & I am also eyeing on the ninja's sintered brake pads/steel braided brakes lines. Lets see when these things took place.
Parting Shot !

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Did anyone here tried to remap their zmr ? I am currently toying with the idea of maping my bike since I am having the kit lying with me. I may only need assistance in tuning.
BTW, bike is standing at 18k kms so far as I had another run to Surat.

Oh, Good to hear that. I will ping you (if you don't mind) once I visit surat again, which is scheduled in the first week of next month. I also read you got some serious modifications done to your bike. Kindly share your experience & list of mods.Originally posted by patelnimesh_29 View PostI am from surat. [emoji3]

Hello Guys,Originally posted by padfootmoony2006 View PostHello Riders,
Recently I've had issues with the bike giving jerks when it heats up and when I rev beyond 4k in high gears. In neutral or clutch pressed situation it revs smoothly without any hickup...but while it's moving in gear I have this issue...!
I tried changing spark plug, ignition coil, fuel filter relay...etc etc...but all in vain.
Paddy !
So finally after over 3 months of running around from pillar to post with a not so satisfying bike performance. Finally the issue seems to be resolved.
I sent the bike to local friendly garage thrice where the mech claimed to clean injector and throttle body. Still issue persisted. So went twice to the Hero SVC, where they to claimed to clean the same. None of them had the device to check the fuel pump pressure to debug the issue. Finally i planned to replace the fuel pump at SVC but no they dint have a fuel pump in stock.
So after all in vain i just happened to buzz my mechanic who works on my ninja. He asked me to come and he knew how to check the fuel pump.
He removed the fuel pump and connected it externally to a battery and said if in the first 34 seconds its able to jet out 150-200 ml of petrol the fuel pump is alright. And kudos as per his diagnosis the fuel pump was alright.
Next he asked whether the throttle body and injectors were cleaned, to which i said yes.
But he still opened them up and checked and there was the culprit, a clogged throttle body!
He said the amount of muck it has has never been cleaned for over 20k kms to which i was surprised as all my earlier mechs said we have cleaned it.
Anyways, he cleaned it. fixed everything in place.
For now the bikes is back to full power and riding it has been fun since the past two days.
some pictures:

changed tyres recently to Mich Sirac on rear and Ceat gripp X3 on front:

I also changed my trusted HID's to V18 40w led. The HID had a good thro and a much better spread than the led. I need to adjust the LED to check if the spread gets any better. they costed me some 1850/- bucks.Originally posted by Gil Baggio View PostHas anyone tried LED headlights in ZMR.? He also suggested to get the complete wiring harness changed as it was over 9years ive had the bike. So thats up next week.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Practically very parts can and most parts won't. See, each bike has a different stay with respect to design and based on which the side panels are fixed upon. It definitely won't be a direct fit, as in old ZMR to the new ones. But, if the metal stays can be replaced and considering they have been mounted on the frame where the old one's stay sits on, you actually have a start on something, but again, the outcome can be tricky. Take it as a challenging DIY and try it out, should be fun.Originally posted by Seamus View PostAnybody? Reply please

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Am strongly considering buying a used ZMR V2. Many of my friends have voted against it. What i see is the cheap price tag, full faired and decent power figures with comfort suspension setup for mile munching.
What many dont like including me is the design of the rear and the sporty handle bar. Which robs away the upright stance of a karizma.
I personally liked the rear of V1 ZMR but it again looked bad on it because of the rear skinny tyres (100/90-18).
Now V2 ZMR has 120/80-18 tyres, if this rear panels and tail of V1 ZMR can be neatly put together into V2 ZMR, this can really make the bike look good.
Has any one tried this? And how much of this can be possible?
