Hey thanks a lot paddy....appreciate that. Have PM'ed the concerned person.

Paddy.....was going through your posts and observed that you know quite well about bikes? Would like to bother you some more .My karizma will be completing one year tomorrow and of late it doesn't brake efficiently (Rear brake). I have shared this with SVC guys but of no use, they just wash the bike and give it back. FYI...brake oil is already topped up....its functionality has been checked too. I thought maybe the brake pads are ruptured enough and hence not gripping....showed the same to a local Mech who didn't check by removing the pads but said they are good enough. He further advised me to cut the same.
What would be your take on it?? Also, since this is my first bike (I learned riding on a brand new ZMR...Know sounds foolish) and was riding at daytime mostly..never realized that my headlights focus more on oncoming cars windshields rather than the road ahead. Have checked whether upper\dipper issue....but seems the alignment is improper. Any idea, how i can do it myself and what tools required??

IMO, rear brake (be it drum/disc whatever) always gives less feedback. This is because it was designed to be less effective in the first place.
See, ZMR has a good lot of weight on the front wheel. So, one has to use the front brake more to stop the bike (it can be any faired bike, ZMR is only an e.g)

Use 80%:20%:: Front:Rear ratio for braking.

Replace brake pads if you've ridden them for too long or if they are worn out. If there's still life left in them, scrub them with sand paper a little, you'll get the grip back.
Regarding headlight beam throw, DO NOT tinker the headlight assembly for beam adjustment yourself. Get it done at the SVC. I'm saying this because a fellow member faced lot of problems when he tried doing it himself. Its somewhat tricky.
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

          • Today while riding , I noticed that my bike is moving to the right side . To check this , I rode on an empty stretch with my hands off handlebar and it was rapidly going to the right side with wobbling . What could be the problem ?? Experts please help .

He he... Try stomping the rear brake pedal hard on gravel... The point is - overuse of any of the brake levers shall lock the wheel. But, ya I've managed locking the rear at least a dozen times. lol

Most probably the cone set is the culprit.
                Get these checked.
                1. Handlebar T-cone set - most probable
                2. Front shocks' alignment.
                3. Tire pressure.
                4. Wheel alignment;ie, maybe the tire is placed properly on the rims.
                5. Swingarm bush gone kaput.

ZMR can digest xxW30 and xxW40 with ease. But, we generally prefer 10w40 for balanced mileageerformance output. Never tried 5w40 though.

Hey brother....yup can give you my suggestions on the same....
Firstly what Divya said is Bang on.....the crispness of the rear discs on the zmr is not as the fron discs.....actually if you go to comparemthe rear drum breaking on the ZMA and the rear disc breaking on the ZMR ...you wont find much difference....one reason why hero have moved to discs from drum on the Karizma is that the Karizma is now considered more of a tourer than a city ride.....and drum breaks have a break shoe and a drum and it is a closed console and so breaking creates a lot of heat inside the drum console which hampers breaking (can be felt more on long rides) and the disc is a open channel... Complete contact with the outer environment....so natural cooling takes place. Now coming to your issue.....a few reasons that i feel can cause lack of breaking are:
                  - break pads worn out.....( depends on the way u ride....breaking differs from person to person on their riding style) aptly bought out to notice by Divya. In case you change them get the original nissin ones...the stock are also nissin and are very efficient.
                  - secondly the whole console of the discs that is the disc caliper.....(the whole block that holds the pads -nissin written on it) may have some play in its fitting....get it checked....it is held by a part called the piston....get it checked at a service centre or a knowledgeable mech...asmit require a set of tools and has a groove that winds ....so if you do it personally there are chances you may spoil the groove.
                  - another reason can be while you topped up the break fluid...there must be some air that must have entered your oil chamber and it largely hampers the breaking....!!
                  - another reason but very minor one....get your break lever checked....
Again stating my discretion- the above suggestion are on the basis of my limited knowledge and the reason for your problem may be something different but the above ones are the most probable ones.

now coming to the headlight focus:
yes having the headlight focusing on the oncoming vehicles windsheild is a complete offence.
Check the below thread....it may be usefull:

to adjust the beam of your zmr's headlight....There is a screw in the fairing....just below the digital console....!! There are two holes i suppose triangle in shape...one of left and one on right.....cnat remember which side is the tuning screw...i suppose in the left hole when you mount on the bike....!! Its like attached to the headlight console so you have to insert a star screwdriver....you will find a bolt with a star screw grooving....insert the screw driver and turn it....turning it anti clock wise make the bean move to one of the directions either up or down ( im very sorry i actually dont remember) and turning it to the other side makes it to move in the other direction up or down.
Scan through the owners manual as far as i remember there is a section that deals with headlight adjustment....!!

PS: with reference to your breaks please let an expert do it.....and the headlight beam....you can do it on your own...just be careful.....!!! And the headlight focus comfort level depends on the hight and point of vision of the rider.....so set it to your comfort level.....but not to the discomfort for the ongoing rider/driver!!!

                  Cheers....!!!
                  Ride Safe...!!!!!

                  • Gave bike to service today.. Its done 22k.. Am changing my headlight this time. The mech is installing a hid which has an inbuilt H/L beam.. There's no seperate bulb for low beam.. Now my query is that if i adjust the srew below the fairing like how padfootmoony suggested, then will the HID respond to it? Is it designed to only adjust the stock beam height or also for the HID which am about to install? Geetting my bike a 9pm today so if it is possible to adjust please lemme know guys..

Hey bros... I have the same issue... I got the Swing arm, front shocks and wheel aligned from Service center but the problem is still there. My issue started after I had an accident this year and the handle is slightly on the right side. I have been asking the Service Center people to fix the issue, however, they are not able to fix the issue.

                      Need some advice on that...

Also, today, my ZMR suddenly stalled. I was riding normally on 60. I stopped on a traffic signal however bike's engine just stopped. Tried pressing the self button but no use... Bike took a long self and started as if she's going low on petrol but petrol was showing as 3 points. She started and then got off again like slowly.

Battery is fine as all the electrical parts are working fine... what can be the problem??

                      Please suggest..

@nripanka kalita... I have used 10W50 for my ZMR... worked fine and delivered good performance..!!!
                      PEACE!!!!\/

                          • Today morning, I was as usual leaving my child to school, suddenly a lady tried to cross the road, came actually running from other side overlooking the bike. Made a dead stop GREAT THANKS to ZMR. rear breaks. It's the agility of the bike that enabled me to control well in emergency situation. I wish Hero should also consider ABS in near future in new bikes, as well as recently purchased ZMR

So one more problem of engine stalling come to light...me , dhiraj and now you are facing same problem...

Do you need to give a acceleration on push of a start button when bike does not start after several attempt?

Mine SVC has not clue; why this has happen...some owners are saying that need a Fuel Injector clean/ fuel tank....

I have asked by SVC to do so; since my bike is with them from monday due to complete inspection of engine; facing engine sound and harshness/no-smothness...
