      • Best oil for ZMR

For an everyday 35km city ride + weekends ~150km drive, which is the best for ZMR ?

        MOBIL1 FS
        MOTUL 7100 FS
        SHELL ADVANCE FS
        GULF PRIDE 4T PLUS

        and 10W40 / 20W40 , which one is recommended?

Don't kill me if this is already discussed , just pointers would help.

AFAIK, FS oil must be used only after covering some 8-10 K kms. What is your odo reading?
I've heard a lot about Motul/Mobil as well as Shell (all 3 mentioned above), but Gulf Pride 4T Plus (20w40) is the one I tried. Its good.

Just ensure changing the engine oil every 45 days/2000 kms. (based on your estimated riding figures)

          (35*22 weekdays)+(150*4 weekends)=1370 kms per month

          Ride safe

Thinking PracticalThe Yamaha R15 V2.0 (Still my favorite in looks)
              Yamaha Fazer
              Karizma ZMR
              Honda CBR 150
              Pulsar 220NS
              Testing Phase
I was shooting to any of the bike showrooms near me whenever I get a chance. I got a chance of test riding all these dream machines except the 220NS, either from the bike showrooms or from my friends circle. I loved the Yamaha R15 because of its extreme looks and had an eye on the same as the first priority. But when I rode it, the whole image on the bike was lost. The bike was absolutely a performance machine, which lacked comfort big time. Also, the bike was extremely meant for youngsters who generally ride single, without a pillion. So if there were times when I should give a lift to my mom or sis, it will be a menace, if I owned the R15 queen. Fazer, which was the next choice lacked in proportions. As I am 5.9, the bike looked too small for me. My choice was narrowed to ZMR, CBR and the 220NS. 220NS dint show any popping up in the Bajaj showrooms so soon, so I had a toss between the CBR and the ZMR. I rode both of the vehicles, and found both were equally comfortable for me, even though ZMR was a little bigger than the CBR. In terms of mileage, from internet, I got an idea that the ZMR used to give a mileage between 40 to 45 and the CBR between 38 to 43. And the ZMR was about 20K cheap in my pocket. So finally I took my fairy queen, the ZMR 223. J

              Handling (4.5/5)Breaking (5/5)Tires (3.5/5)
This is the part where, the bike appears a little cheap. The bike tires are so narrow (thick as a P150 tire) so the bike does not appear muscular from the back. They do provide awesome grip in dry roads, but I have experienced light skids in a rainy season. The tires are tubeless, and with a bigger diameter which is a good addon, but it makes the selection for aftermarket tires a mess. It would be good if HH shipped the bike with thicker tires.
              Performance (4/5)Comfort (5+/5)Maintenance & Service (4.5/5)Mileage (5+/5)Conclusion
All my friends used to criticize me for choosing ZMR against R15 as my bike. But many of them are now looking forward to get this bike after selling their pulsars (Even the P220 guy, his mileage is 30Kmpl after all the screwing and lousy comfort). I love this bike now, and can confidently recommend the same to any of my friends.
              Plus points
Great acceleration throughout the speed range
Great breaking with twin disks (largest disks for the category)
Great mileage for a 223 cc bike (45-55Kmpls @ 80Kmph speed) Thanks to ECU controlled FI
Looks great when a rider is sitting on it, just because the bike is so bulky
Great riding comfort and posture. Thanks to good seats, GRS and fairing
Great stability @ high speeds. Thanks to fairing and kerb weight
              Negatives
              Mediocre tires (slim tires)
Looks bad from sides (Bike alone photos)
Low top end (128Kmph full throttle)
Poor RTM indicator (Sometimes the mileage shown is more than 200 lol)

Last but not least, I must say, always wear a helmet whenever you are riding a bike. Of course girls cannot see your faces with helmet, but they love the scene when you just pop off the helmet from your skulls and walks shaggy (Own experience LOL). I own a Vega motocross monster energy helmet which offers pretty much wind resistance at high speeds. So, if you prefer comfort over looks, it will be better if you stick on to a full face helmet like LS2. I would love to hear comments from ZMR owners. Yamalube 20W40's also a good bet, its the best I've used, currently running on Valvoline was good in the beginning, but after 1k the tranny takes a hit when the bikes hot and gets all notchy. There is a Motul variant thats similar to the Yamalube and people claims it to be better, but personally I find that Yamalube does the job better, cause its lighter and mates with the bikes internals pretty well.

So I made up my mind and got prepared for a bad experience and finally went to the closest service center, Nidhi Motors in Hosur Road Bangalore, which is just about 3kms from my residence. Yesterday left my bike with a heavy heart, expecting around 2k+ bill, I did not believe that the Hero motors people estimated only 1k they said they will call if they'll replace anything, anyway lets hope for the worst, told them will take the delivery today.

I called them twice about the status and my final bill; they said that they have messaged me which I never got. So today around 11 AM I took a 3km walk in the bright sun, reached the Service center,
First time when I started, I felt like Brand new taken out from showroom.

To my surprise the bill was only 724 bucks!! What was included in this service?

                    >Engine oil change.
                    >Chain wash and Lubrication.
                    >Hid Headlight Repair.
                    >Horn Repair.
                    >Changed Clutch Lever
                    >Accelerator Cable fix
                    >break foot rubber.
                    >few nuts and bolts changed for the Faring noise.
                    >washing and normal polishing

To sum it up, Guys doing good job but their volume of customer is too high. I saw only one zma and zmr in the servicing and 99.9% are the rest of the models. The area is also dusty hence I found lots of sand particles in the Chain oil

I think I can live with this.
I went to Nidhi Motors on 21st July to get my ZMR serviced. The supervisor took a quick test ride to assess the situation. He wrote down all the details on job card without me explaining about the problems. Initially I was bit worried thinking if they would attend all the problems mentioned on the job card or not :-( Well took the delivery the next day. The guys have done a really good job. Ride is butter smooth now. This is the first time i have ever enjoyed riding my bike. In the past I have tried Prakash Motors, Millennium Motors and Sai Motors. Trust me guys, Nidhi Motors have been the best among them. None of the listed service centers ever serviced the bike upto my satisfaction. The bike feels new now. Its been three days I have been riding the bike and smoothness has not reduced at all. Usually within 2 days the smoothness used to vanish, but now it seems to be stable.

On an average my bike runs for about 40 KMs daily. Engine heat has reduced now and the engine does not heat the way it used too while riding in traffic congested areas.

Guys who live in Bangalore and who are not satisfied with their service centers. I would recommend Nidhi Motors. Visit once and feel the difference.

using it since 2k kilometers and the engine had never been so smooth. gear shifting was never so easy ever before. Getting neutral has also become very easy. cant say how long it will last but I am happy with it

Kudos to Mobil 10W40 FS

Ps: started using this oil after trying Motul FS and Shell FS, after ridden the bike with mineral for the first 4000kms, never dissapointed till, bike ridden for 39k+ kms now!
Have used HERO HONDA 10W30 Mineral from till 10000 Kms
Then used MOTUL 15W50 Semi Synthetic till 19500 Kms
Then used HONDA 10W30 Full Synthetic till 23500 Kms
Now using MOBIL1 10W40 Full Synthetic till 27800 Kms (Today Reading)

Changed the Mobil1 after 4000 Kms for the first time.
Other Engine Oils lasted 2000 Kms at max.
Do a city Ride of 40 Kms daily.

Extremely happy with Mobil1 and even my City Mileage has gone up by 2Kmpl.

But still VALVOLINE Mineral is very good and you can try the Honda Mineral 10W30 also.

                          Hi X-Bhpians,

Sorry for the back to back threads but posted this since a different Topic.

Front Michelin M-62 tube Tyre without a Puncture
Rear Michelin M-45 tube Tyre with some Punctures

Have done around more than 18000 Kms on these Tyres.
Yes the CENTRAL tread has worn out and would be flat in 1000 Kms.

Straight Line braking stability on wet Roads is a big issue.
Though riding cautiously but have lost the confidence.

Thought that it was only my thinking that Tyres have worn out but Bike experts & Tire experts have confirmed it too.
But DHIRAJ and others have reported to last for a longer time.

Now the Options are very limited for Tubeless ones.
Have ordered a PIRELLI Front and Rear in the same stock sizes.

Since not keen to open the Chain Cover have no other option.
Will it be too bad for Rear Tyres or should I go for 110/90 X 18?

1). Shell Advance FS :- it was the first FS oil i have used after 12k odometer, firstly was quite satisfied with its performance, Good acceleration, Smooth Gear Shifting and Less engine noise. cheaper then other FS oils. (Rs. 650 or 700)
Issues :- Doesn't last more than 4k, after 2k kms the smoothness in gear shifting becomes less.

2). Mobil FS :- presently using it, grea8 smoothness, gear shifting is smooth all the time, good acceleration feels the engine response. covered over 5500kms and it is still lasting and one more point is that the level does not go low as compared to Shell FS.

Have not tired Motul 7100 10w40 FS, will try once i my present Mobil lost its viscosity.

And always used 10w40, the engine will perform efficiently and effectively at the 10w40 then 20w40, and it is lot depends on the riding condition and environment condition.

Will it be too bad for Rear Tyres or should I go for 110/90 X
Pirelli front and Rear in the same stock sizes? are they available, i think 100/90 -18 in pirelli is available as Front tyre. Please check out this on Pirelli website, what i see on there website is :

I have changed the front to MRF Zapper FS 2.75-18, i missed the opportunity to try for Michelin Pilot Sporty for front, and the M45 rear is still performing good but will change after more 3-4000 kms as 4-5 punctures are there. was keen to put M45 again but because of its unavailability the second option is Pirelli sport Demon 110-90-18.
So according to me look out for some more options for Front tyre but put pirelli sport demon 110-90-18 in rear.

Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

                              • shell super petrol

Hi guys. I have been using shell normal petrol for the past 1000kms and was receiving around 42kmpl in city ride and around 45-48 on highways when the speed is kept around 80kmph. Recently tried shell super and all of a sudden the mileage went below 35kmpl and even the rtmi reading doesn't go above 30kmpl. Today filled normal petrol and rode about 200kms and the mileage was back to normal. Is there any diff between super and normal as of octane rating? The shell people were claiming there will be a mileage increase but ut was reverse over here anybody else noticed the same
