    Hurray, post # 6000!

Bhaiya, are you sure the ZMA method (of fitting the 9 AH battery) can't be applied on our bikes?
I mean psr sir was quite positive on the same method.....
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Either get a new one made/welded as per proportions
      OR (better idea)
Get a 06 Model ZMA battery cage.

The 9 AH battery is a direct fit in the 06 Model ZMA cage.
By wiring changes, he probably meant extending the extending wire length (as it is really short and may not reach the terminals of the battery in the extending cage)

The following pics should guide you. (Sriram sir's 2011 ZMA being supplied a 9AH Amaron... Same for ZMR)

very nice work mate, post some full pics of the white karizma

Satyajit - I ain't no pro DIY .. It is all the willingness to experiment that matters when you want something good.

FYI.. I'm a 2 stroker and only in 6/2011 got introduced to ZMA. Definitely credit goes to PSR sir for all that I could share.

Whenever doing such experiments, chalk out the requirements, identify the changes required and get the right moves for successful completion.

              • Guys did you do paid servicing's at ASC ? If so how much they charge you ?
I just got info in my ASC they charge 150 for 100/150 cc bike of HMC while 250 for ZMR . In servicing they only clean carb , air filter & lube chain & other cables like clutch , accelerator . While HH/HMC already said in owners manual that do not lube any cable . So only things remained for them to work is Clean carb , air filter & lube chain , but in case of ZMR no carb only air filter needs to be cleaned & chain to be lubed ( if owner want it from there containers which have old oils )
So my question is it fair to charge high for less work ? Asked the authorities here they said its by HMC order , what if any customer ask to refit whole fairing etc .
But what if one has not wanted to get the fairing opened & just want to get servicing done by cleaning air filter only should charges must not be less for him ?

What you guys think should we write to HMC ?

                • Karizma zmr 5000 Kms ownership review by vichu

About Me and the Dream Phase

Thinking PracticalThe Yamaha R15 V2.0 (Still my favorite in looks)
                  Yamaha Fazer
                  Karizma ZMR
                  Honda CBR 150
                  Pulsar 220NS
                  Testing Phase
I was shooting to any of the bike showrooms near me whenever I get a chance. I got a chance of test riding all these dream machines except the 220NS, either from the bike showrooms or from my friends circle. I loved the Yamaha R15 because of its extreme looks and had an eye on the same as the first priority. But when I rode it, the whole image on the bike was lost. The bike was absolutely a performance machine, which lacked comfort big time. Also, the bike was extremely meant for youngsters who generally ride single, without a pillion. So if there were times when I should give a lift to my mom or sis, it will be a menace, if I owned the R15 queen. Fazer, which was the next choice lacked in proportions. As I am 5.9, the bike looked too small for me. My choice was narrowed to ZMR, CBR and the 220NS. 220NS dint show any popping up in the Bajaj showrooms so soon, so I had a toss between the CBR and the ZMR. I rode both of the vehicles, and found both were equally comfortable for me, even though ZMR was a little bigger than the CBR. In terms of mileage, from internet, I got an idea that the ZMR used to give a mileage between 40 to 45 and the CBR between 38 to 43. And the ZMR was about 20K cheap in my pocket. So finally I took my fairy queen, the ZMR 223. J

                  Handling (4.5/5)Breaking (5/5)Tires (3.5/5)
This is the part where, the bike appears a little cheap. The bike tires are so narrow (thick as a P150 tire) so the bike does not appear muscular from the back. They do provide awesome grip in dry roads, but I have experienced light skids in a rainy season. The tires are tubeless, and with a bigger diameter which is a good addon, but it makes the selection for aftermarket tires a mess. It would be good if HH shipped the bike with thicker tires.
                  Performance (4/5)Comfort (5+/5)Maintenance & Service (4.5/5)Mileage (5+/5)Conclusion
All my friends used to criticize me for choosing ZMR against R15 as my bike. But many of them are now looking forward to get this bike after selling their pulsars (Even the P220 guy, his mileage is 30Kmpl after all the screwing and lousy comfort). I love this bike now, and can confidently recommend the same to any of my friends.
                  Plus points
Great acceleration throughout the speed range
Great breaking with twin disks (largest disks for the category)
Great mileage for a 223 cc bike (45-55Kmpls @ 80Kmph speed) Thanks to ECU controlled FI
Looks great when a rider is sitting on it, just because the bike is so bulky
Great riding comfort and posture. Thanks to good seats, GRS and fairing
Great stability @ high speeds. Thanks to fairing and kerb weight
                  Negatives
                  Mediocre tires (slim tires)
Looks bad from sides (Bike alone photos)
Low top end (128Kmph full throttle)
Poor RTM indicator (Sometimes the mileage shown is more than 200 lol)

Last but not least, I must say, always wear a helmet whenever you are riding a bike. Of course girls cannot see your faces with helmet, but they love the scene when you just pop off the helmet from your skulls and walks shaggy (Own experience LOL). I own a Vega motocross monster energy helmet which offers pretty much wind resistance at high speeds. So, if you prefer comfort over looks, it will be better if you stick on to a full face helmet like LS2. I would love to hear comments from ZMR owners. Faced the same problem.. Ditto.. look under the tank.. The radiator is right under it so obviously you'll face such problems.. But they are not so serious.. It happens in almost al ZMRs (sry if am wrong) specially when you ride for an hour or more continously.. R15's however is different case.. Heating is normal and understandable and mine takes about 2 to 3 hrs to cool down

Ride safe and try consciously not to drop the bike, the spares are costly and more over spares are some(many) times not available off the shelf. I hope you don't mind comments from other states of the country.

Hi bro, its my pleasure to read your comment. Bro, I have a big doubt. Many of my friends are saying, hero is gonna stop its support for karizma series, especially zmr after 2 years, as the bond with honda is gonna end. Will it really happen so? If so, what will be the future of our bikes? Even now, spares are not available naa?

Hero and Honda contract comes to an end on 2014. I would think the manufacturing of vehicle(of Honda's technology) would stop, however, Hero is bound to give support/spares for minimum 5-7 years.

RX series, most of spares are still available from Yamaha even though the sales stopped years ago.

Actually in all full faired bikes the heat produces from engine do not get pass easily....to cool down there is an liquid cooler...which is not there in ZMR...in R15 and even in N250 i have faced the little heat on my legs...

Also, one thing to tell even in car we have a radiator to cool down the engine but still heat is there and you can feel on car bonnet and it surrounded area...

I would love to hear comments from ZMR owners, especially guys from kerala.
