My ZMR can go beyond 125 and can be redlined for sure, I could do it on mine, (exept redlining on 5th gear).. Done it several times..
Welll vibrations are a part of ZMR. I've had enough experiments to reduce vibrations but no success yet, but those are not high, can live with them..
I got hard vibrations around 3.5k - 4k then vibrations are minimum till the maximum speed I reached..
And I found out something interesting with the speedo indicated speed..
ZMR speedo shows speed with 3 - 3.5% of decrease from the actual speed. Means, when ZMR speedo shows 96 - 97kmph, the actual speed is 100kmph.
I checked this with several GPS devices, 4 to be exact, of different make and also 3 mobile phones with GPS.. Results are almost the same. This error is with the ODO as well. Just wonder whether ODO is coupled with the speedo or not. Thought ODO works from a different pulse from the sensor but now I doubt that..
Initialy thought this error is with my ZMR only, but checked with a friends' ZMR and this same error was there too.. And this error evenly distributed throughout the speedo range(means from lowest to highest) with the same deviation value. If anyone of you get a chance, please check with your ZMR and let know.
This suprises me coz as far as I know normaly speedos show more speed than the actual irrespective of being analog or digital. So are we faster than we think guys??

You are right, either is perfectly accurate or it shows relatively 3-4% lesser speed than actual.Originally posted by Dan_GP View PostAnd I found out something interesting with the speedo indicated speed..

In one such instance, One of my friend who has a R15 was riding along side my bike. I overtook him and that time my speedo was showing 127kmph. When we finally stopped he asked, "Saale kitna touch kiya" to which I replied, "127" and he said not possible I was riding at 135 when you overtook
I have touched 135 in ZMR, of course that was on a NH down slope.

Oil Change - Time to experiment
Hello All,
My ZMR has completed 29K and I have only used HH recommended oil so far. Even in Ladakh I did not use Semi synthetic oil. HH oil worked fine in the worst conditions also.
Now I wish to change the oil from HH recommended mineral oil to Semi Synthetic oil. Can you guys who use semi synthetic oil advise which oil, grade, etc to be used? I think Motul is the best, Is it?

i have used a variety of engine oils in my zmr now ill give you the list preference wise:Originally posted by Sachinnair View PostHello All,

from best to worst:
1: Shell advance AX7 10w40 (SS)
2: Gulf Pride 4T plus 20w40 (mineral)
3: HH 4T plus 10w30 (Stock mineral)
4: Motul 5100 15w50 (SS)
5: Motul 300v 15w50 (FS)
6: castrol power1 15w40 (SS)
Details:
1: Shell advance AX7: It is semi-synthetic and the grade is 10w40 and by far is the best engine oil i have ever used. it resulted in smoother engine and good gear shift(not the best). currently using this engine oil and life is around 2k kms. cost 280rs/l
2: Gulf pride 4T plus: By far the best mineral oil i have ever used in my ZMR. Rating is 20w40 and made engine smooth and gear shift was best with this oil. life is around 1.5k kms. cost 200rs for 900ml
3: HH 4T plus: yes you are right it is the stock oil of hero honda with the rating 10w30. nothing special to write about and the life is 1k kms.
4: Motul 5100: the most popular semi-synthetic oil among pulsarians and it is good for them but not so good for ZMR at 15w50. i have toured uttarakhand on this oil and used it for 1450kms approx though on return journey the gearshift became notchy and loss of pickup from very first day.
cost 450rs/l
5: Motul 300v: frankly i have wasted my 875 bucks on this oil. it made engine smooth no doubt and amazingly engine was not getting heat up but after a tour of about 300kms gear became notchy and smoothness gone to hell then rode another 100kms then got oil changed. it may be good but not for our ZMR as initial pickup died.
6: Castrol power1: one word PATHETIC. dont know why people use this oil. worst engine oil used so far, lasted for 700kms
rating was 15w40 and cost 300 approx for 1100ml.
speed thrills but kills if you dont have skills

That means we are getting more mileage than we calculate...Originally posted by Dan_GP View PostMy ZMR can go beyond 125 and can be redlined for sure, I could do it on mine, (exept redlining on 5th gear).. Done it several times..

On another thought.. Can we increase/induce speedo error to something like 10% ?? I know speed will be same but it'll make me feel happier
. Moreover I just feel frustrated when my cousin asks about max speed I touched. When I reply 120 with a pillion, he just says "itna to me bhi apni dedh sau (P150) pe le jata hu...."
You didn't touch it... You actually crossed it...Originally posted by Sachinnair View PostYou are right, either is perfectly accurate or it shows relatively 3-4% lesser speed than actual.
