Thanks for the reply deejaay. I think i will have to re-consider my decision of buying a cl500 then , as i will be riding the bull mainly in city limits and occasionally for long rides. The people in Royal Enfield showroom are telling that it will easily give 30-35 in dense city traffic and around 38-40kmpl on highways. 20-25kmpl on city limits is pretty less according my requirements. Will have to look for cl350 then.

Even I would not suggest CL500 for city use, although it is a charm to ride in traffic, ample torque to pull out quickly :-) but in traffic the fuel economy comes down drastically.

Hello deejay, finally i bought my beast, the classic 500 bottle green color. Enjoying every moment riding it. Its a used one feb 2011 model. However i wanted to ask one question that the indicator which shows less fuel stays on in my bike even after filling 9litres of petrol. Is their some complain in the light or it always glows like that.

            • A question.

Is it a good idea to fit a free-flow exhaust slip-on (offroad, goldie, short bottle etc.) on a classic 500 considering the FI system being employed in our version?

              • Hi you can use a free flow exaust on a RE 500 without any issue. I have installed one 3 months back on my classic crome 500 aug 2012 model. No issues at all. Infact now I really feel I am riding a RE, awesome thump and the ride feels better too. Go ahead and install one.

Wow!! Congrats dude :-) I am sure the sheer riding pleasure will negate the fuel economy issue. The fuel indicator light will glow occasionally when you brake hard or accelerate hard. But ideally it should happen with half a tank or less.

                    • I bought a short bottle exaust with very less glass wool fm Karol bagh delhi, I tried out about half a dozen exausts in different shapes , sizes, sounds. this one was on the louder side as I believe that is how a RE 500 should sound. Much better feel , ride and also the bike looks much smarter compared to the originally fitted exaust.

                        • Hey everyone, hope everybody's enjoying with their bulls. I wanted to change the headlight bulbs of my bull and am very confused between the Philips night vision and the osram night breakers. Wanted to take suggestion from experts here. Please let me know with which one to go for and in case if theirs any other bulbs of any other brands please throw some light on that too. Thanks in advance.

Thump in new RE ? I felt current RE is the most refined engines in RE history.
Which lacked Thump and sound which older CI use to have. Better in power and performance.

                            • Hey guys,

Ive tried the short bottle silencer with less glass wool, free flow goldie and the off road stock silencer apart from the stock one which came with the bike. I have a K&N air filter fitted and since my bike was running a little rich anyway thought it will be fine. Ive been getting back blasts from the free flow ones as well as the short bottle with little glass wool. And since everyone agrees that's not a good thing im sticking to the off road for now. Runs fine, i really dont care what it sounds like as long as its not too silent and runs clean. So its the off road silencer for me at present.

                              • Hey all i have recently installed K&N stock replacement filter, the model no is RO-5010 which is specifically made for classic 500, and believe me theirs a lot of difference after installing it. The torque is much better than before, vibes have been reduced to some extent and the main difference is while revving, we can revv much more than before and because of this, i do always have a grin on my face while riding nowadays. Now i feel the 500cc thrust.
