However, I have started riding at 70 and keep varying the speed still but need to clear my doubt about proper running in.
Kms running does matters a lot for engine to get settle between it's new expected performance, So surely wait untill the initial kms mentioned in manual for 1st service.

Why is XBhp having less / no coverage about the RE 500 TB launch, no official ride report by XBhp. Is it just that companies pay for these kind of promo's, I always was under the impression that XBhp is a neutral body and not affiliated / attached to any brand

There are many such launches / products, why is XBhp having this partiality

Moderators - Just wanted to know the reason for this, not sure if this will get posted or not.

      • Hi guys I own a cl 350 which is just one and a half month old and done 700 km. Last week I gave it for first service, but after that a strange noise like krrrrrrrr is coming from the front brake lever whenever it is applied at speed in excess of 40kmph below 40 it is not that audible but above 40 it is very much audible.
Can any one out there tell me what this noise is and any one have noticed it on their bull. Please help me out, would be very grateful

          • Same happen with me some days back. I just pushed the self button and loud blast sound comes after few seconds of start, then i tried to start again bt i failed. I noticed the air pipe was removed from the carburetor mouth, I tried to tighten it, but it wont work, then i called RE guy, he just tight the air supply pipe somewhere below tank, and bike was ready again. At last he said there was pressure in engine that's y pipe got removed from its place.

I got scared and got the RE mechanic home. He just tightened off one piston somewhere near carborator and said you must have given extra race.. thus he started the bike and it startedd as butter. I reall have no idea why this happened and what that guy did. But seriously for about 15-20 minutes my heartbeat hadd got really fast since I thought Engine of my bike has gone.

              Few mods done are:
              1. Handle Bar changes to RD 350.
              2. Seat Height changed and foam density changed to softer one.

Want to install K&N filter(in box type) now. Read about piston expansion hence got a free flow exhaust (punjab) fitted, will be getting filter installed after 500km of running in. Post installation of exhaust i am facing a unique problem of back blast.

Does this adversely effect the engine ?

if yes will a half filled Goldstar be a better option or as a mechanic suggested remove some filling from the stock silencer.

              Thanks in advance
Back blast will happen even with stock bazooka silencer. My CL500 (stock silencer) also suffer back blasts although of very low intensity. Free flow and aftermarket exhausts have more back blast issues.

                • 2nd Service Done

I got my C5's second free service done yesterday. Total money spent = Rs1750. One of the spark plugs was replaced since it was short/burnt due to which bike was missing at very slow speeds. Spark plug alone costed Rs750 (so much for free service ). The silencer gasket was also loose due to which there was a change in exhaust sound. Gasket was replaced (Rs 30) and bike sound's back to normal. Bike is running smooth as butter & has done 1150kms till now. Not taking it above 80 till it crosses 2k kms mark.

I have booked the CBR250r n also the RE Classic 500.
I have read a lot on both the bikes and i cant pretty much make up my mind.
As CBR250r is a decent sports tourer and well a Bullet is a Bullet they cant be compared.
But since am going to bike the first time and I want it to be with me for a long time I would like to choose one which can last.
My usage would be only on weekends for long rides and once a week ride to my office.
With all the problems with the C500 I am inclined towards the Ceeber but I would like to know what kind of resale value can i expect after say 5-6 yrs of usage.
                        Kindly help a fellow rider.
                        Thanks & Regards
i used to own a CL5 and a CBR 250. Now i only own a CL5. guess u can understand what i am trying to say.

                        • Recently, there was a fire accident in Ludhiana due to puncture in the fuel pipe caused by constant friction between the fuel pipe and battery housing owing to vibration.

When my son's Classic 500 Black was given for the fourth and the last free servicing a few days back at HSR Enterprises, Rajajinagar Industrial Estate, Bangalore, this incident was mentioned to the SA with a request to do something to protect the fuel pipe from the battery housing. They provided a protective sheath over the fuel pipe without charging anything.

This is a nice temp solution, but I guess you need to think for some better idea! This plastic won't last more.

I personally rode it to 130kmph!! And let me tell you the confidence at that speed on RE was nil...where as I am more confident on R15/P220/CBR/Duke...

My friend rides it to 130kmph mostly on highways!!
But I seriously think that any RE model is best in 80-100kmph then >100kmph!! Though first time ever CL500 model inspired me to at 110kmph....but beyond that it's like gambling...

The VIN contained the letters CC indicating March 2012 make; A = January; B = February; C = March; I and J are omitted. Similarly, another C indicates 2012; A = 2010; B = 2011. If it is a new bike, the emission test sticker [pasted inside the utility box] will also indicate the date of testing, which is another way of finding out the manufacturing date.
