    • It's been a week since my bull was delivered. Only took it out once on a 40kms ride and it's so good a feeling. However, keeping it between 50-60kmph is a sheer pain and very hard to not twist the throttle and just let the big single sing in all it's glory. It's raining everyday since last week and I don't want to take my bull out in rain at any cost. Just waiting for a sunny weekend so can go on that long ride. Can the C5 owners please provide some tips on running in the engine?

      • Congrats dude on the new ride..
for running in try to ride along open roads. nothing wrong with riding in traffic but when you are new to the bike and trying to enjoy its not so much fun in a brake-go traffic. i just kept riding to my office everyday cos its almost 60km route.
btw i would say ride it in the rains to enjoy the rains and the bike also. personally for me i really luv riding in the rains

thanks Soni..I am just skeptical of riding in rain right now as I feel it will be easy to keep the bike rust free for atleast an year if I keep her away from mud and water just for a few more days (just my thinking). Right now it's shiny black and beautiful and thus stops me from taking her out fearing rain & waterlogging..Monsoon is just 10-15 days more and then she's going to get wht she's worth i.e. lots and lots of miles..I however, have to start it everyday and keep it idling for 2-3 minutes since my 2 year old nephew keeps dragging me to the new bike and then start climbing it while threatning me to start it so he can sit on the seat and pretend riding it...then I'll tell him that I'll gift him this bike when he gets into college

          • got my desert storm 14 days back , have nothing to say, its just entirely a different experience altogether being on this machine, first the commanding position it gives you on the road, people on the road look at you either in admiration or jealousy, just two feelings one gets on this machine. the next thing i find myself doing is plug in my earphones and listen to "ride the wind - poison" and ride into the sunset! Its not a bike, its an experience... so for now i am just taming my bull..

            • I hadn't got a chance to take my C5 out for 5days and won't get a chance till the weekend. So, today morning, I thought of just starting the bike and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. Bike started on first crank but there was an unusual dhik dhik sound from the engine for 15-20 seconds after which it went back to the normal dug dug. I have the bike for 12 days now it has 80kms on the odo. I wasn't worried as it may be that the engine was just warming up that resulted in a different sound for few seconds. Any input from the long term owners? Also, I haven't used the kick start even once till now and doesn't plan to use it much in future too. Will it be fine if I don't use the kick start at all?

              • Hi guys,

My bikes 12k old now. . The vibes have died down its a lot smoother, switched to the K&N, fits neatly in the box. Changed the spark plugs. Been running it on 15w50 Motul 5100. The problem now is that it jerks at time, especially when im doing a U turn or slow down at times. It feels similar to the jerk caused when ur running out of gas. Should i get a fuel injection cleaner? PLease advice.

                Thanks,
                Al.

                • My bike is 3 months and 1500 km oldd. I had not ridden by C350 for 3 days so I tried to start it yesterday morning.. as soon as I had started it and had given the speed their came a very laud crank voice and the bike got off... then a bit of smoke came from somewhere above the engine area and below the tank. I got scared and got the RE mechanic home. He just tightened off one piston somewhere near carborator and said you must have given extra race.. thus he started the bike and it startedd as butter. I reall have no idea why this happened and what that guy did. But seriously for about 15-20 minutes my heartbeat hadd got really fast since I thought Engine of my bike has gone.

My C5 is 15 days old and has 280kms on the odo. Even I feel such jerks mainly in the 2nd&3rd gears at low speeds so I use the clutch accordingly when such jerks occur. My bike stopped twice while on speeds of 15-20kmph and while taking a slow turn. I have no idea as to what made the bike stop but it started again without any issues so I wasn't bothered much. This bike hates to be ridden in congested city streets and begs for highway

Mine has done 18 K (14 months). I am using stock filter, platinum main plug, upswept silencer, had the engine remapped after the silencer and plug change. I have no such issues. I recently finished my 16 day Ladakh trip with RE (Himalayan Odyssey) and the bike worked like a dream. I change the oil after 3000-3500 km. (no top-up) and get the bike serviced before and after big trips. I also get the injection unit opened and cleaned (makes a lot of difference). You can try that and see.

I don't know enough about the K&N filter but try switching back to stock and see. The bike ECU is tuned with stock filter so change in air-intake flow could upset the way it is running.

                      All the best.

You don't need to use the kick start. Just make sure you run in the engine according to the manual always wary your speed (you are literally machining the inside of engine as you go). I did it by the book and except for one major issue initially (one of the bolts of clutch assembly came loose and had to put bike on tempo and get it back and RE guy came home to open the engine cover and discover the loose bolt - not torqued properly at factory he claimed. Riding a little longer would have messed up the whole thing) things have worked very well. I have done a lot of touring (10000+ km) this year and have enjoyed every moment of it.

Don't worry too much about the rest, just give due importance to the regular servicing and maintenance of the bike and it will give you a lot of pleasure in return. I have one of the best mechanics in Delhi (Johnny from Ess Arr motor, Mayapuri) working on the bike. Go to him and give my reference (Rajesh Dhawan) and get it serviced by him. Since the dealers don't appreciate their people, I would advise a token tip every time you go (my own incentive structure -50-100 bucks works wonders, more for big jobs).

                        All the best.

Thanks for the reference, have noted. There's a bike shop in Virender Nagar too that deals only with bullets but not sure how much experience they have with the EFI models. If RE doesn't provide satisfactory service in the first 4 free services, I'll be definitely looking outside for a good mechanic. 10k kms in a year is pretty good riding but with the premium/speed fuel prices skyrocketing, I am using the C5 only for stressbusting rides

I am expecting my CL350 towards end of this year (waiting this long is real pain), during which all these dukes, pulsars (ns) and even impulses are distracting me as the waiting is negligible. How ever the love of Bull has kept me away from them so far.

I have been going through ownership threads of RE classic, one common problem I find reported by people is the 'back pain' issue with classic family. Any comments on this? Any experiences Pls share... I need a machine where I can sit up right and wont give any back pain.. I am not going to go long trips on this.. will be using it for day to day commute (around 30 -50 kms) and week end fun (around 10 - 20kms).

Also please tell me if changing the seat has helped anyone... thanks in advance..
I am planning to book a CL500 next month but before that would like your inputs on following doubts:

                            1) I have CBR250R currently but in long trips, I get back pain because of the aggressive riding position. Main reason for booking CL500 is this one only, I go for long rides quite often and would like to know about ride comfort in CL500 (not exactly seat quality but how is the riding position and pressure on wrist and shoulder). I am 5 ft 6" in height and weigh 63kg!

                            2) I am assuming that RE has made some improvements in CL500 since its launch 2-3 years back, are there any expected changes in 2013 models?

                            3) TB 500 is about to launch in 2013 but I dont want to wait so long (not sure how its 1st/2nd lot) is going to be (although engine will be same as CL500). Just want experienced riders opinion, whether TB500 is worth waiting (as compared to CL500)

                            Thanks in advance

                            • Hello guys,

I am also a RE lover and planning to have Classic 500 but on Google I found some reviews which sets me uncomfortable with my decision to have this,

                              BULLET CLASSIC 500 EFI - Reviews | Price | Specifications | Mileage | Ratings - MouthShut.com - MouthShut.com

Can someone really clarify me whether it is worth to put 1.5 Lac for this machine?

                              I heard about,

                              1. suspension issues
                              2. vibration issues
                              3. performance issues

                              Thanks in advance.
