    • Our RE Std (2000)

After months of persuasion I have finally convinced my dad and got hold of his RE std.

Long story short, he wanted me to buy a new one (AVL ones) as it will not have all the associated problems of maintaining a "Bullet". He even sold this bike to somebody so that I will buy a new one. I booked a CL350 halfheartedly and started convincing my dad why I wanted a CI only and hence the very same bull. Finally we bought it back from him (paid a premium too) and asked him to send it to me in Pune.

Attached pics is when I got it from the logistics company.

      Details -
      Feb 2000 make.
Hardly 15k on the odo - My dad bought it just because it was his childhood dream to own a bullet and it was never the primary mode of trnasport for him.
      Mods -
      Alloys fitted back in 2k5
      New Handle Bar
      Split Seats

      Suggestion required -

I prefer to remove the pillion seat when riding solo so I want to change the tail lamp to "phantom" one (pic attached). I have sourced this lamp but it doesn't fit on the mudguard. Precisely speaking, the bores to fit it are too long.
Is there any after market housing/bracket available too which can help it stick on the STD's mudguard nicely? OR drilling holes in the mudguard the only option? Alternatively, If you know any bullet specialist in Pune who can do this job neatly, then please let me know

      Cheers!

      Keep thumping.

      • Royal Enfield Classic 500

I have owned many bikes before Pulsars, Yamahas and others, but it is only a week since i am owning a Royal Enfield Classic 500. but it is an amazing experience to ride a bullet. I dont feel like getting off my bull. It is an amazing riding experience and you can feel the ultimate riding pleasure. It is a real pride to own bike. Classic 500 is a vintage bike model combined with the latest engine technologuies of EFI and twin spark. A royal enfield is always an owner's pride. There are no words to describe the wonderful biking experience called Royal Enfield Bullet.

          • Does anyone know what this wire I found hanging loosely do?
I think it is my ground wire but i'm not sure. It seems to belong to a small hole (indicated in the image).

My bike has had a problem of the battery not charging/discharging especially when I ride with the headlight on. Could this wire be the reason?

            • C500 Desert Storm

              Hi Guys,
I just booked a RE C500 Desert Storm. Currently I own a FZ 16. It was sheer luck and chance that I made this decision. I had almost fixated upon buying Unicorn Dazzler ; mostly because of its smoooth ride and the comfortable sitting position... All FZ 16 owners would know that all that they will crave for is the smoothness in between speeds of 40 - 60 kmph.
So I went in a Honda showroom and asked for a test ride of Unicorn.. Sadly since it was raining the showroom guy said that he can't allow me to test ride it since those vehicles have no insurance in case of any mishap. I looked at the bike; sat on it, felt good and then decided I'll come back again to test ride it.
On the way I met one of my closest friends who owns a Bullet Electra 350. He was pleading that I should seriously think about going for a bullet since it would be a keeper for years to come.
I said it was too heavy and I didn't know if I could handle it.. He then persuaded me to test ride his electra for a week..... Man that was it..
I have never felt that way about a bike before..
Those 7 days I really loved.....I mean "loved" riding a bike. I got so attached to it I felt I was never gonna return it.
Sadly I had to since it wasn't "my" bike.
That day itself I went ahead and took a test ride of a Classic 350 and 500 both.. And I loved the C500. Its got the initial thrust of FZ and the cruising pleasure of any other bullet with enormous power. That combination is like a dream come true.
I went ahead and booked a C500 green colour. And as expected the waiting was 10 months. But for such a bike 10 months is a deserving wait.

Surprisingly on the day the Desert storm model was launched I called and enquired with my dealer... Guess what... Desert storm had only a 3 months waiting!! Imagine my excitement!
Next second I was on my bike and going to the dealer to get my booking changed from C500 Green to C500 Desert Storm.

I'm looking forward to riding this one.. I already feel like I own it... Sometimes I even dream about it..

              3 months waiting and counting.......

True I can't seem to stop thinking about it. I am based in Pune. Suddenly my ears tune almost instantly to any bullet that passes by.

                    • Hello Guys,

I got my Classic Chrome delivered today. I was given a briefing on the warranty, maintenance and stuff. I thought i ll share this with you all.

                      Warranty Related:

                      1. Battery does not carry a warranty card as it is an imported one.
                      2. Parts like accelerator, clutch and brake cables, bulbs, brake pads are not covered in warranty.
                      3. Warranty is covered for only the first registered owner.
                      4. Engine is completely covered for one year.
                      5. Fuel injection system is covered unless if failed due to water(rain or water wash). In the normal scenario, water wont get in if the cover is installed properly.

                      Maintenance Related:

                      1. Cable spares are a must have as they say they are bound to fail. They recommend have an extra at hand to avoid waiting for them in case they fail.
                      2. Chain and brake adjustments are recommended every 1500 kms.
                      3. In all the first 4 free services air filter and oil will be replaced, for which we have to pay for.
                      4. Never start the engine before the system electrical self check light goes out. This is the small engine shaped light in the console.
                      5. Before giving the bike for water wash, securely seal the fuel injection system with a plastic cover to avoid damage.
                      6. Additional 3 fuses are provided. If something goes wrong and bike wont start, try replacing the fuses.
                      7. Use a mixture of coconut oil and kerosine every 10 days to clean the bike. Especially parts like Rims, silencer and the joints.
                      8. Tyre pressure to be maintained are 20(front) and 30(rear). Check every 3-5 days.

                        • I have a general question about classic 500.. Is it safe and recommended to go for a long bike trip on a new Classic 500 which has done around 500kms only and first servicing has been done.

Let me know your thoughts on this one.

                          • guys i'm planning on getting the CL500.. my question is.. can i cruise at 120 for long hours? i prefer a cruising speed of over 100-120. would that be possible?
                            Why Biking?
Because all other sports need only one BALL!!

My friend has a c5 and he says its possible to cruise at 100 smoothly. 120 would be a little straining for the bike and it would give you some vibrations. Also if you plan to cruise for 250 or more so kms then the recommended speed is arnd 100.
