    3. Is the bike dependable?

All RE owners please let me know the answers to these questions as i have booked a RE 350 classic and now thinking whether to go ahead or to cancel..... Thanks in advance your responses will be helpfull
I have been riding a Classic 500 since 1st of february and have clocked 2500kms on the odo, Done 350kms ride in a day and touched 130kmph top speed on the bike. According to my riding experience till date,

    1) The maintenance depends on how much you want to maintain your bike, if you are used to a Honda bike, fill fuel and ride, then it will take you some time to shift to the cruiser segment. You have to take care of your Enfield, wash it yourself, shampoo it, polish it which is something even I never did with my Honda Stunner but as soon as I got an enfield, I learnt this all on my own.

    2) Its unbelievable as to how someone can even think that a Royal Enfield (which is known for being reliable) is not reliable. I honestly feel that it is the most reliable bike I have even ridden.

    3) Yes, the bike is very dependable, it doesn't shake even by an inch on top speeds like 100-120 (in my case, I own the 500cc variant), the wheels are planted and the riding pleasure is something that you have to experience yourself.

I hope you wait for your Enfield and do get it after your waiting period gets done Cheers!

    • Silencer confusion?

Guys when I got my Enfield, I wasn't really happy with the thump, it felt very soft, nothing like the old bullets.
After doing a lot of research and finding out about the innumerable silencers available in the market, I finally changed my silencer.
I was confused between the upswept silencer and the Indore silencer. The decision making was made simple by just 2 facts. First, the upswept silencer has to be removed incase your rear tire gets punctured (which is very inconvenient in emergencies) and second, it almost touches the foot pegs for the pillion rider which makes their foot soles burn and end up sticking to the silencer.
So as its very evident, I decided to go for the Indore silencer which is perfect for the Classic 500, makes just the perfect amount of music (thump). Its louder than the stock silencer but not the loudest in the market. The others mess around with the fuel injection system, whereas the Indore silencer is harmless

they have great military replica lids, but I am not sure if they are ISI certified though.

also on your DS don't go around wearing this near the borders , some sniper might mistake you for a military man
        cheers!

                      • Accessories for CL 500 - Long drive with pillion rider

                        Hey ALL,

Last Sunday I got my CL 500.

I have a question that I need help on.... Me & my wife want to plan out of town trip on this bike, for about 3-4 days+ nights stay. It will be a long drive, of course .

My question is... what accessories should I get for a long drive with pillion rider.

I have no idea really what all is required... so all suggestions are welcome

                        /Kanwaljit

Congrats! Firstly, carry spares on a long ride. Buy a set of spare tubes for your tyres. Clutch/accelerator cable. A bottle of engine oil. Accessories wise, you can look at the cramster saddle bags. I've used them on my rides with my wife. Also, a magnetic tank bag helps a lot.

PS: Don't forget a helmet for your wife. Don't give her the impression her head is worth lesser than yours.

                            +1
What Ram1883 says is true. I would like to emphasize on cluth cable. My Cl500's cable broke at arnd 1500 kms. Basically you dont know what is the condition of the cable that came factory fitted. Better carry one. Also if possible learn from some RE mechanic to change the clutch cable. Will come handy in future also. Especially with the wife as pillion, you don't wanna get stranded en route because of clutch cable break.
Make sure the tyres are properly inflated. The Cl500 tyres are very good. It won't be punctured easily. But spare tube is a must.
There's a puncture sealant spray/tube (don't know exactly) that's a one-time-only fix available in the market as per a mechanic I know. may come handy in case of a puncture.
Last but not the least whatever protective gear you wear must be wore by your wife also. A think jacket and a helmet would be the minimum.
Btw how long are you planning to ride in terms of kms (if you don't mind me asking)?
Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."

I like- "Bikes are not supposed to be a rational decision. If you can park it and walk away without looking back to admire it, you got the wrong one."

                            • DS booking

                              Hi,

I had booked my Desert Storm on 29th Nov, 2011 (my b'day) at Voyage Motors, Kandivali, Mumbai for a payment of Rs. 1000 and its yet to get delivered. The never-ending waiting period and consequent rise in price (10k+ compared to booking price), forced me to book CBR250R 2012 Tricolor model which will get delivered next week. I am yet to cancel my DS booking. So if any of you or your friends from Mumbai are interested to buy DS and want to cut short the waiting period then contact me on 9869-432-539 asap.

                              Regards,
                              Rohit Jain

I would suggest to avoid this 3-4 day trip and just do a day trip. Even if you carry all those spares it will be useless if you dont know how to change them.

Think of this trip 2 months down the line when you will know how good your bike is.
