Please let me know how much mileage one can get RE C500 and RE C350? I am planning to buy a RE but in a dilemma which one to book. Mileage is bit important for me because I travel around 50 Kms daily for my work. So looking for a beast with a bit of mileage.

Since Morning I am reading this thread, I can understand how much people love Royal Enfiled. But also come across about issues & issues every second post about newly bought RE's. I am also a die-hard fan of RE and almost on the way to book one, but after going through all issue related posts, feel like changing my mind & heart. I guess RE should get more professional and also RE should faced stiff competition from other Bike companies in order to improve themselves. So that they can stand and deliver what the word "Royal" means.

Congratulation!!Originally posted by Arian_Ram View PostHello Guys,
I got my Classic Chrome delivered today. I was given a briefing on the warranty, maintenance and stuff. I thought i ll share this with you all.
Warranty Related:
1. Battery does not carry a warranty card as it is an imported one.
2. Parts like accelerator, clutch and brake cables, bulbs, brake pads are not covered in warranty.
3. Warranty is covered for only the first registered owner.
4. Engine is completely covered for one year.
5. Fuel injection system is covered unless if failed due to water(rain or water wash). In the normal scenario, water wont get in if the cover is installed properly.
Maintenance Related:
1. Cable spares are a must have as they say they are bound to fail. They recommend have an extra at hand to avoid waiting for them in case they fail.
2. Chain and brake adjustments are recommended every 1500 kms.
3. In all the first 4 free services air filter and oil will be replaced, for which we have to pay for.
4. Never start the engine before the system electrical self check light goes out. This is the small engine shaped light in the console.
5. Before giving the bike for water wash, securely seal the fuel injection system with a plastic cover to avoid damage.
6. Additional 3 fuses are provided. If something goes wrong and bike wont start, try replacing the fuses.
7. Use a mixture of coconut oil and kerosine every 10 days to clean the bike. Especially parts like Rims, silencer and the joints.
8. Tyre pressure to be maintained are 20(front) and 30(rear). Check every 3-5 days.
Its all safe, just keep in mind your bike's Engine will be in runnin period, get a 5-10 min break after every hour and the speed in the limit,Nothing to worry.Originally posted by Viper1089 View PostI have a general question about classic 500.. Is it safe and recommended to go for a long bike trip on a new Classic 500 which has done around 500kms only and first servicing has been done.
Let me know your thoughts on this one.
Yes you can very easily cruise at 120kmph all day long,no worries in that.Originally posted by Cyber Don View Postguys i'm planning on getting the CL500.. my question is.. can i cruise at 120 for long hours? i prefer a cruising speed of over 100-120. would that be possible?
there is a lot difference in both bike's speed,The 500 will feel more relaxed at this stage and would still have oodles of torque to overtake trucks on that speed, while the 350 have to struggle.Originally posted by Cyber Don View Postwhat about the C350? i hear that it can do 100s. if the 350 and the 500 do the same 100, i'l get the C350!
suggestions?
If mileage is your concern than go for C350,it would happily give 40kmpl in city.500's struggle in this department, will give around 30-35kmpl on highways.Originally posted by Jeevan25 View PostPlease let me know how much mileage one can get RE C500 and RE C350? Yes I know what you mean. I have had quite a few of varied opinions too on an RE. But I still went ahead and booked a Desert Storm in Oct as soo as it was launched. My thinking is that not all bikes are same and it depends a lot on the rider, how you ride the RE, what speeds etc. So its not recommended to completely depend on others reviews or problems in making your decision. As Nirmesh says RE 350 is also a very powerful beast and it would do good in both power and mileage department. One of my pal's Electra 350 Twinspark gave him a mileage of 48 in the city. Thats quite good. Even better than my current FZ 16.Originally posted by Jeevan25 View PostSince Morning I am reading this thread, I can understand how much people love Royal Enfiled. So for mileage and power : go for Cl 350.
Only power and no worry about mileage: Go for Cl 500.
Also its better o be prepared; its a beast of a machine. Some minor tweaks and problems will occur. Just get them fixed before anything serious happens and then you will enjoy it even more.

Hi all,
Its been 18 days since I got my C500 DS delivered. I have done the first free servicing and have run 990 kms so far. Yesterday I took it for a long ride out of the city for the first time. It was a pleasure ride. I cruised at 80-85 speeds continuously for more than 50 kms. Even overtook cars and jeeps. It was a ride of total 250 kms from Pune to Mahabaleshwar and back with a pillion rider. The Cl500 has a great benefit over the 350cc bullets. In the 5th gear the torque is so good that even at 85kmph speed you can zoom to 90 and overtake trucks etc on the highway. The 5th gear is meant for cruising! The bike did vibrate a lot at 95+ speeds. I could feel the vibrations from the engine up to my hands. I didn't strain it much over 90's since its relatively new. It took potholes on the highway easily. Didn't even feel the little ones or patches gone bad etc. No engine trouble after returning home.
The seat was just fine for the first 120 kms. After that my behind just started to hurt. I mean really hurt and pain. I reached a point where I couldn't sit anymore on the bike so I halted and got down. So I would probably change the seat if I plan to go on any longer rides henceforth. Or I would put on some more cushion on the seat.
The stock silencer is great at lower speeds but once you reach 80 and start cruising the sound of the engine takes over the sound from the exhaust.
I know I said I wouldn't change the stock silencer but I think I would go for the up-swept one eventually.
I am still facing issues while kick starting. Sometimes it starts and sometimes the kick start just won't work no matter how warmed up the engine is. The self start has never failed me till now even in cold conditions. At first push of the button the engine starts.
So this was my experience till now of the RE Cl500 DS.
Its an amazing bike whatsoever and I love it!Very True- "Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity."

I have easily reached at 110 kmph. But my Cl500 is still new ;around 25 days old only. But I have known people to have reached speeds of 120 kmph if not more on Cl 500. You can expect T'bird 500 to reach at 120 easily. But it does vibrate a lot at 110+ speeds as far as I know. But its stable at any speed. the wider tyres on the Cl500 do their job very well. Stability is not a problem at higher speeds for Cl500 or any other bullet.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postsince i want to purchase the new thunderbird 500, i want to know -
- what is the top speed of classic 500
- how comfortable/confidence inspiring the bike is at speeds above 100

I have reached speeds above 135 easily.. reached 140+ on long streches. but above 130 it soesnt feel confident. The front forks are weak for bumps at that speed.Originally posted by Viper1089 View PostI have easily reached at 110 kmph. But my Cl500 is still new ;around 25 days old only. 120 is a cool breeze.
100 is its cruising speed.

What you say is true. Above 100+ speeds the front forks do not offer confidence on bumps.Originally posted by prabhubravo View PostI have reached speeds above 135 easily.. reached 140+ on long streches. but above 130 it soesnt feel confident. The front forks are weak for bumps at that speed.
