  • i have 2 doubts to ask:

    1) does overusing the engine kill harm the engine's performance?
2)getting into neutral is very difficult is there any prob if i stop my bike in 1st gear?...
3)why is gear shifting so hard on my p135?

Things will be ok. dont worry if u don't get much gripping power after they cleanup the brake caliper.it will take some time to get full grip.also, use the foot brake as well.Use front and rear brakes together for stopping.
Thank's for the tip i will ask the mechanic about the spring

Worn out disc pads can cause this. Get it checked. Also check whether the dsic has got warped/bent in any place which could be a major problem then as you need to get the disc changed.
      okay..will check that..thank you

      1) overusing the engine kill switch is better than using the key everytime it doesn't concern engine performance..i mean it's there to kill the engine

2)it's an art getting a new p135 into neutral but, the shift's become easier and neutral falls easily after 1st ... 2nd service etc is it is still hard check your clutch setting and the see that the chain is not over tightened ... keeping your bike in 1st at signals/traffic will only eat up your clutch slowly
      3) same as pt 2

      • thanks bro, i have just completed 200kms on my bike \m/, waiting for 500kms for the first service, btw do you use a bag or something that can be used for keeping stuff?, the big plastic box makes the bike ugly, anything else that would be feasible?

i just use a backpack, cannot imagine getting that dabba fitted to my bike

And my disc brake if fixed now after changing the piston and master cylinder and the spring inside also i guess, it cost me 350 with labour, oil etc now the brake feels as good as new. although the disc doesn't bite as quickly as it used to but it'll get better with usage

          • I went to a Michellin tyre dealer ship today to inquire about the rear tyre for my Pulsar 135. The dealer suggested the one used on the Pulsar 180 i.e. 120x80x17 (Michellin Sirac) for Rs.2400 (which includes free nitrogen for the tyres for a 6 month period). Should I upgrade to this 120x80x17 rear tyre?

No,Sirac is a very heavy tire and 120 is overkill for PS135,Get a good 100/90-17 tire.Sirac 120 will reduce mileage,Acceleration and topend for sure.

              • I want to buy a new bike.

Well I have seen and inquired about quite a few bikes. I test rode Honda Shine, Unicorn, Pulsar 135 LS and Yamaha SZ-R. I like all of the for their own features.

As Shine and unicorn and butter smooth and very less noisy(which I like better).

Pulsar 135 is slight rough compared to honda but has got great looks and handling.

And Yamaha was looking fine to me but was not appealing to me.

Ok now coming to the point I want to tell you that when i went to inquire about bike i asked the foreman of the workshop of the showroom(known to me) and to my surprise he told me not to buy the platina 125 and pulsar 135 as these bikes has got inferior quality engines. He even told me that these 2 bikes are like chinese bikes. He said that you can choose from rest of the bikes. He said that these bike has got some faulty engine kit ( cant remember the name). This person is head of workshop deptt and very known and good mechanic.

But Pulsar 135 is the only bike which i liked among bajaj bikes. Is it true? Pls help as i want a long life bike not just a stylish toy.

                Regards
                Anand.

                • Well, its not the case. The Pulsar 135 engine is a bit rough, but if maintained well,it will work pretty well. We all are using it for a long time now, works perfectly. There were some issues with the 1st gen Baby Pulsars..but all those have been sorted out now. Depends on how well u take care of the bike and timely servicing is all it takes to keep this baby going.
                  P.S. : Even after 1.5 years,I still love its looks...much sharper than the Pulsar 150 and 180s.

                  • If I want to fit wider tires both at the front and the rear without compromising on performance of the bike what size should I go for? Also what brand would be best suited?

I also want to install rear disc brakes on my bike - what will be the total costs involved and what all would need to be done? What brand of disc brakes should be installed?

                    • I am thinking of buying 135, but worried about frequent maintenance. How often does this beast need a visit to server center?

Further, the nagging issues like false neutral, issues with disk brakes etc are present in all bikes?

Obviously u can buy, buy better thing is, do a test ride of the bike u are getting delivered, test the suspensions(both front and rear), tyres(MRF should be there),clutch play, disk brake, rear brake, acceleration(it should be smooth),pickup should be excellent just like 150cc pulsar, and engine oil level(should be within the two limit lines).

You need not visit the service center frequently if u check all above and buy, and most importantly, if u maintain it properly..(READ MANUAL PROPERLY BEFORE)...u need to go only for free services/paid services.

If u dnt check all those, as i did , u will get messed up.

then take passion pro or splendor plus..they will have long life, but no performance like 135..

but, is that mechanic an engineer to say that it has got bad engine?

mechanics when asked to do work, they will tell all these unwanted things and distract our minds...
