Irritating Noise from engine from 5K RPM
HI Guys Long Time No See
My Style Machine has done 3000 + K on Odometer. He has been doing good so far except for few niggles. The only thing that keeps me worrying off-late is the engine note which turns irritating @ 5K RPM. The sound can be related to the noise that comes from a Old Scooty which has got a hole or damage in the silencer [the toour sound
] This noise could be heard only after 65 KMPH. When this sound starts the bike feels like 'Revving hard at low gear' [dragging]. The pick up is very slow, ie time taken to reach from 65 to 70 is long. Foot peg vibrates a lot. and the other fishy thing is, say at 75 KMPH I take my hands off the accelerator, the bike would slow down but the Toour sound like am revving could still be heard and the sound goes off when the bike slows down to 64 KMPH and then becomes normal. Very Strange, No bike would make a noise when the accelerator is fully released.
Guys before I take him to the service station, I would like to know what could be the cause for this, like One of the spark plug is not working after 65 KMPH, or the one of the exhaust valve has been blocked, etc. Could some one get me a precise hint of why this is happening. If I go blank, the SVC guy for sure wud say he will tighten the chain and convince me. Help Me Guys.sigpic

Hey guys, i got the bike. I originally compromised that I'll use the 135 as a stop gap. You can only imagine the surprise i got when i took the bike out of the showroom for a small test drive. It moves so effortlessly and the new engine mechanics make it sound effortless even in low speeds.
Thanks to the new chassis and the 4 valves, the engine pulls effortlessly and i personally love the handling, the nimble front end and the awesome feedback from the rear end.
Oh, by the way i got one in red. Its been close to 15 days, and I've covered 600 glorious KMs.

My bike engine just shuts down...every now and then..during the first start and even after after running the bike for like 10 odd kilometers it just stalls....why does the engine stop running? problem with fuel lines? carburetor ? spark plugs? air intake ?Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Maybe auto choke not working, also check idle RPM, it should not be very low, should be around 1500 rpm ideally on a warmed up engine. Idle RPM can be adjusted by hand. If ur bike is starting very cold then u might have to change the carburettor setting (increase the amount of fuel going). If your bike is pretty new, and is probably still in the run-in period then you should start your bike and wait for 1 min before moving off. This will make the oil warm and reach all parts of your engine and evenly warm it up.Originally posted by BikerKid View PostMy bike engine just shuts down...every now and then..during the first start and even after after running the bike for like 10 odd kilometers it just stalls....why does the engine stop running? problem with fuel lines? carburetor ? spark plugs? air intake ?Last edited by Curious; 04-14-2011, 03:29 PM.

Have it tuned correctly from service centre ( who has an accurate RPM meter ) .
thank you for the tip i will have it checked...btw i got an average of about 63 although the roads were not too crowded..in heavy traffic it still gives 58 kmpl. I use xtra premium or speed onlyMost motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

Better stop using extra-premium/speed etc high-octane fuels / fuels which have additives in it . It will harm your engine in the long run . You can confirm this with Bajaj authorised service center. Standard petrol is good for your bikeOriginally posted by BikerKid View Postthank you for the tip i will have it checked...btw i got an average of about 63 although the roads were not too crowded..in heavy traffic it still gives 58 kmpl. Saddle height of P135 compared to P150?
Hello P135 owners and test riders..
any one who tested/used both P150 and P135, please let me know the height of the seat from the ground of P135 VS P150..
I just want to know whether its more/less height than P150, as I had a ride on P150 recently...
Thanks in advance..

P135's seat position is higher when compared to P150.. so for shorter guys P150 suits better.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

wow..i dint know that. it will damage my engine how exactly? and i got my carb tuned from bajaj. but idling rpm still fluctuates when the petrol level in tank reduces the idling rpm goes down too.. why is that?faluty spark plugs? cos cold start is a big problem for me i have to star the bike and just begin riding it or it shuts down time and againLast edited by BikerKid; 04-22-2011, 06:21 PM.Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

It's a technical thing which I don't understand half well myself
, briefly - to burn higher octane pertol correctly your engine should be having higher compression ratios than most Indian bikes engines have . Otherwise it will produce more heat carbon knocking pinging(detonation) etc etc ... shall cause damage to piston/rings/valve-train . This kind of damage manifests as starting difficulty , poor throttle response , poor pickup , hot engine , knocking , unstable idle (rpm) etc . Please ask the manager at your bajaj authorised service centre if it ok to use XtraPremium / speed etc petrol in your bike . I think they will say no . Mine did
.
Moreover since these premium petrols are priced higher than the normal one , it is more likely to be adulterated , since they profit more than adulterating normal petrol , per litre . You may have been a victim of this .
Change to normal petrol and change your petrol-pump to a better (honest) one , have your carb re-tuned for normal petrol , clean and re-gap your spark plug from bajaj service . I think that will solve your problems
.
Since the fuel is our bikes is gravity fed , i.e flows owing to gravity from tank to carb , more full tank will have more fuel pressure and cause the engine to behave a bit differently , than a near empty tank . It is normal , happens in my bike too .Last edited by Pinaki; 04-23-2011, 01:50 AM.
