On 2nd April, I poured SHELL ADVANCE VSX 4 in my RTR Fi’s mill.
Now I’ve crossed about 1200 Kms on it.
The updates after using this oil are as follows:
• For first time I revved after pouring this Semi-synth, the bike first time felt this much free. Thanks to 10W40 grade.
• For first 300 kms, vibration levels were pretty much down.
• Throttle response has improved.
• Haven’t faced Engine over-heating issue yet.
• The gear shifting became decent. Earlier, sometimes the gears used to slip down. Also, rarely faced false neutral condition.
• After around 600 Kms, the vibration levels increased a little bit, but still fine.
• Checked the oil level at around 850Kms, and oil level is pretty much OK (topmost cross of dipstick is fully immersed). Viscosity level is also fine.
• Previously, the bike used to run @ 52~53 Kmph @4000rpm in top gear, now it steadily remains on 54Kmph @ 4000rpm.
So, overall, it has been a wise choice for the bike. I would recommend it to use on resp. RTRs. It costed me Rs 290 (Delhi). But I would also like to try Petronas SPRINTA 5000 for the next oil change.
Do pour in your comments and suggestions…
Few things i would like to ask and add here:
Oil can never improve the throttle response, it may improve the smoothness, overall freeness in revs(less viscous).
How you noted that engine is overheating or not, many people say this here and i would really like to know how you people calculate, measure, read it?
Cuz in my FI when it gets more than required heated it starts to miss between 1500-2500RPm,and if it wasnt the missing i would have never guessed that the engine is overheating or not.
False neutral happens cuz of more than required play most of the time, gear slippage indicates worn out springs.
How you measured the viscosity thing i would like to know.
The speed at the rpms you've mentioned indicated speedo error, and changes according to the type of Road you were travelling too, it has nothing to do with the oil.Last edited by rennycornelius; 04-14-2010, 11:45 AM.The Magician"

Of Course, that's why the inertia gets less and engine responds quickly to throttle changes.

Frankly, from past experience with this bike
. Last year, in same season, the engine heat used to make my laps sweat

Oho,
, may be I didn't notice much coz of relaxed riding than earlier.

The time the oil is new, just put a drop of it on your thumb, touch the drop with your finger and slowly seperate them. The longer string the oil makes, the better is its condition. Compare before and after

There's this 33 Km long route from home to my office and what I observed is for same conditions. Again, freeness of engine may be the reason.
Yes....

Suggest some good carburetor jet clening additive for petrol. I need it desperately. 2 eeks ago, i filled in 2 ltr petrol from indian oil pump at sanpada. Since then, bike started behaving like hell
. I cleaned carb jets physically and driven 1000kms with HP power. Now its sort of ok but i am not completely satisfied.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

You can use Bardahl or Iftex fuel additives. They are supposed to clean the injector system etc.Originally posted by nox2505 View PostSuggest some good carburetor jet cleaning additive for petrol. Play in the connector rubber.
I just noticed a play in the rear sprocket when i was wiping my chain 10mins before, i think the rubber(which ultimately connects the sprocket to the wheel) is gone, will be getting it changed tomorrow.
One more thing the petronas sprinta i'm running with gets so thin after riding for 20-30kms that it feels 10 or 20 grade rather than 40

Are you experiencing the sluggish throttle response(1500-2500 RPM) accompanied by a grunty sound once the engine gets super hot too??Originally posted by indianz_alive View Post.

when i switch on bike and switch on either the pilot lights or main headlamp , the neutral lamp gets a bit dim in both cases and sometimes even flickers at even 1400 RPM idel . but if lights are switched off then its ok . can anyone confirm if it happens to other RTR/fi/180 's as well .

You sure the clutch play is correct?Originally posted by jigsaw91 View Post.
Guys the problem is still persisting....i tried to lessen the clutch play but the there s still a BIG thud when the first gear is engaged when engine is cold.

check the chain too, is the slack right or not.
get the wiring checked.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postwhen i switch on bike and switch on either the pilot lights or main headlamp , the neutral lamp gets a bit dim in both cases and sometimes even flickers at even 1400 RPM idel . but if lights are switched off then its ok . can anyone confirm if it happens to other RTR/fi/180 's as well .The Magician"

problem with idling (FI)
Hi, I bought my fi this feb,
I'm facing a problem with idling. like if my have my bike rested for a couple of hours, and then start it, the idling wont stay and the bike goes off unless i keep accelerating, but after riding for a couple of kms it gets normal and the idling stays at 1.2... are you guys facing the same problem..? couldnt find this issue in the thread.
Please give me some suggestion.. i asked TVS show room they said, all FI bikes having same problem. And they tried setting the idling rpm to 1.4k also, which didn't help.I have got 2 services done already. thanks.
