My RTR 160 completed 5500 kms today. I am planning to get it serviced in a couple of days. I was using Castrol engine oil for the first 2 services and now I want to change it to something better mainly to reduce the vibrations and to make the gear shift smooth. I need you guys to suggest the best engine oil for me.Originally posted by onlinesatish View PostI Used 5100 10W40 once....i found it good. Currently running on 300V. its been 8k kms now i love it. replaced the oil once at 6k kms.
Got the taillamp replaced. Horn was'nt working.....LH one has gone kaput...replaced it with a new one and i dont like its sound one bit....i liked the horn's for the 1st lot
I was thinking about "5100 ESTER 15W50/15W40" and "300V 4T FACTORYLINE 15W50/15W40". My usage is 80% city ride and 20% on highways, considering this which oil is better.
How frequent(in kms) we need to change the the oil if we use any of the above?
Which viscosity is better - 15W40 or 15W50 ?
Also plz tell me the price for these in Bangalore if anyone knows.
If there is any other better options please do suggest.
Thanks,Last edited by nizarp; 09-27-2010, 09:11 PM.

Ok guys had a super scare yesterday...I was riding back to my home in BSK after dropping my friend in [email protected] the road was free i was doing around 85kmph....when suddenly my bike (RTR 160) started shaking all over the place.....I was super scared....I left the throttle and the bike stopped shaking....I had a car behind me which was doing around 80....
For a moment i thought....Ok Srikanth...this is the end....thankfully i got away with it....I stopped at the side of the road and breathed a sigh of relief.....and then continued....i was doing 70's after that and did not feel anything....i dont know what caused the Shaking....I am not an expert on this...so i am looking at you guys for help on this....
One more thing....I was complaining about my back brake producing screeching noise....well it still has not stopped.....I went to the service station on Saturday and got it checked....The guy said that i have to change the Break shoe....so i got it changed for 120 bucks....(I bought the bike 6 months ago....i dont know if i am entitled for a free replacement as part of the warranty...??...)......
Well the guy changed it and gave it back to me....Then i drove yesterday and did not here any screeching sound (not to forget the scare)...so i thought the problem is fixed....
Today morning i went to work on the bike...and the problem resurfaced....I returned early from the office and asked the guy to check it again....He checked and then gave it back to me....Again it felt fine.....
So now i just came back from a drive and the problem has resurfaced again...I am getting impatient and a bit worried....The back brake sounds as if its been used for 5 years....
Guys please advice on what needs to be done....
PS: I went to Ashwa TVS (In BSK) for service...

bik wobbling on high speed
guys i've new prob ...my RTR Wobbles like hell @ 110+ speed i mean bike is super duper steady till 110 speed but after that
front wheel starts shaking heavily. No matter how i try to control this wobbling
its just keep increasing and yesterday i almost lost control over handle while testing it
.
Recent bike repais done :-
Front wheel B'ring changed (its hardly 1k old)
Cone set checked tighten it little bit
Repairs to be done
Both Front Oil seals gone oil is leaking from both side
My front tyre is quite old (almost 20k on soft compound Zapper Fx100/80)Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

What you guys have experienced is what's called a tank slapper. It happens at higher speeds when sufficient weight hasn't been put on the front-end or if the handle isn't held firmly once you reach such speeds. That's the reason racing bikes and super bikes come with steering dampeners.Originally posted by abhiwar View Postguys i've new prob ...my RTR Wobbles like hell @ 110+ speed i mean bike is super duper steady till 110 speed but after that

Provided there's nothing wrong with the swing arm, sprocket bush, forks and alignment. The only remedy is to tighten the steering a bit and to ensure you put weight on the front end at higher speeds with a firm grip on the handles .
The thing is ,once this shaking develops it continues shaking on its own no matter how hard you might try to lessen it by putting weight on the front end or by holding the handle firmly. The only thing which can be done when this kinda shaking happens is to lessen the speed till it stops shaking. I have experienced it on speed runs and it is scary and that too when i was using a flat ACE handle bars.Life begins, once you hit the power band !!

Is there anything like wheel allignment/wheel balancing for bikes? My rear tyre seems to wobble even in straight line.. earlier i thought , it was due to the worn out chain sprockets, but today i changed it, but this feeling doesnt seem to go away !!My New Blog : http://ridesaferidelong.blogspot.com/
