Re: Apache RTR/FI
I am planning to change my rear tyre (lasted for 30k) for my apache rtr 160 as i have 5 punchers in my bike.
Looking for tyres with good grip and life of 25-30k. My budget is around 2.5-3k
I have shortlisted few tyres
1) zapper c 110/80
2) Michellin sirac 120/80
3) MoGrip Meteor 120/80
can anyone suggest which tyre to prefer among these. Does upsizing the rear stock tyre cause any issues with gearing ratios etc, please guide.
Suggest any other tyres which are good for apache rtr.

Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
I guess you should stick to the actual profile size as your existing tires. Mrf zapper C is a good choice. It should last 20-25k kms easily. And is also within the budget you specified. Also its a direct fit.
No harm upgrading to 120/80 size. Just watch out for chain sprockets. It tends to wear out quickly due to heavier tires. You might wanna keep oiling every 500 kms and wash it with diesel after 1000 kms.Everybody has their own version of TRUTH!!!!!!

How good is tvs remora 110/80, anyone tried using it. Zapper C 110/80 is out of stock, and i prefer to stick with stock size for Rear profile tyre.

Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
I had been to TVS service centre in HSR layout, Bangalore yesterday to get chain sprocket checked. There were no issues with the sprocket but instead they said gear shift is not smooth and changed the gear lever which was covered within warranty. I had felt this issue before but thought it's the same with all RTRs and had got used to it.
Thanks to those guys, gear shift is super smooth now..
This was my only second visit to that service centre and I'm very happy with the experience both times. Also got positive feedback from the people who had come there for service. Feeling like to get the bike serviced from there next time..:PLast edited by satish_patil; 10-18-2015, 09:23 AM.It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: Apache RTR/FI
Looks like everyone has been busy riding..
Has anyone from Bangalore done de-carbonization for the piston head ? If yes, from where ?
I am looking for a good service center near HSR layout, Bangalore. I shifted to this area few months back. I had thought Kubera TVS in HSR is a good service center (as said in previous post) but they have bad reviews on Google.

My beloved RTR. January 2011 model. Since i shifted to another place ( also had severe neck pain), had to sell it. Now it is with a dear friend of mine. He still maintains it in mint condition.

Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
Hi all,
While putting the shell ultra engine oil myself, I spilled around 200ml by mistake and could pour in only around 800ml..
I'm going on long ride next week and I will be covering 640km on coming Tuesday and return journey will be the next Sunday.. Will it hurt my engine if I have only around 700-800ml oil.?Last edited by satish_patil; 11-04-2015, 09:53 AM.It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: Apache RTR 160/FI
For peace of mind you better carry the same spec oil for top-up. Its good if you can check oil level in between pit stops.Originally posted by satish_patil View PostHi all,

Thanks bro.. I will try that..
By the way wanted to change stock head light bulb also and while going through older posts, found that you too were looking for Osram Nightracer plus 35W. Did you get it ? If yes, is there a considerable difference in light throw (between stock and nightracer) ?It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Its little more whitish than normal and so its not that good when in it comes to rain & foggy condition.Originally posted by satish_patil View PostThanks bro.. I will try that..

I would suggest you not to change as the extra amount you pay for the same is not that worth mainly because its still 35W. We need atleast 55W to see a change but our bikes being AC & not completly DC, the higher wattage bulbs wont run well.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Apache RTR/FI
Hi,
I recently bought used TVS Apache 160-Efi. during service i noticed that the port which used for Diagnostic using PC(ECU Tuning) has been sliced off.
Can somebody please post the picture of the same in details.

Re: Apache RTR/FI
You should have bought the carb version or picked a 180. That fi system is a pain and its kinda outdated now. The electricals are the most messy part of the bike. Hope you don't have any issue with the bike.Originally posted by Ramankr77 View PostHi,

I have pulsar in Native. so i picked up Apache.Im facing jerking issues now , so need to be checked with diagnosing tool with PC.Originally posted by ajextreme View PostYou should have bought the carb version or picked a 180. yes I agree electrical part is is the Biggest flaw in the Apache RTR-Fi.
but it gives the best riding Experience compared to Pulsar-180 and easy on pockets(easily returns 50+Kmpl).

Re: Apache RTR/FI
Fi is the most vibey bike when compared to carb versions. Jerking issue might be due to bike running lean. Yeah you might need to check ecu setting with diagnostic tool. Of the 6 years I used this bike I have never got a mileage close to 50 kmpl. But however I rode, it used to return me an avegare of 41-43 kmpl. If the socket has been cut, you might have to buy the entire electrical wiring kit for the bike. You don't get separate parts especially with wiring. And Fi wiring system is expensive. And availability also might be a problem. Don't try to convert this into a carb if you face issues. This bike will give you nightmares due to Fi system in place. The carb wiring system won't work as it is not compatible with the coil and magnet of the bike.Originally posted by Ramankr77 View PostI have pulsar in Native. so i picked up Apache.Im facing jerking issues now , so need to be checked with diagnosing tool with PC.
