i like these bike and it fits in my budget too!
my daily travel is 40 kms maximum which included mixed road i.e city roads and highway, and would it burn my pocket though??and i have only one option!-

Thank you!
Test ride the bike before you finalize. Its engine is not smooth as Honda, it vibrates a lot. But still I went for it because its a pocket rocket when it comes to acceleration and is easy on pocket when it comes to service. I felt okay with vibrations mostly because I dont like too much refined vehicles as its kind of boring. I do like it when its a bit of ruf-n-tuf. Make use of gloves if vibrations are too high. i heard the new RTR's are much better when it comes to vibration handling.
You might get 40-45 kmpl mileage depending on your riding style & type of traffic. regarding after sales and services no two wheeler company is good. Live with it & dont go with high expectations. The tires are not that great but not that bad also. Understand your vehicle, its weakness & its strength before you ride it in insane speeds. U can follow prateek2210 signature to know more. He will be active in RTR 180 thread. Last but not least always wear helmets & sanely when you ride. i have seen many a***les who ride with helmet in their hands or between legs or on the handle. They (esp. college guys) see that as a style, but I see that as stupidity showing off their idiotic face..

i own a Apache RTR 160 08 model. I had rewinded and put ape rr for my HID projector and it was going well for the past 5 years barring battery a bit low a lot as i guess rewinding was not excellent so charging was not as good as planned. However it seems now battery has died , not even meter is lighting up. but thing is even bike is not starting with kickstart also. no response. i checked connections and fuse to battery and they all seem ok . what could be wrong ? from what i know it should atleast start on kickstar even on a 100% dead battery right ??

• How to know bike engine has seized ?

I have a apache rtr 160 08 model. oil was last changed around 2k kms ago. bike was not starting today and got a mechanic home to look at it , seemed battery is dead as his battery had started my bike and it was running fr a bit but it was heating a bit. i shut down engine and he says piston is stuck and not able to kick it now. i dont trust him much. in neutral i can rotate rear tyre freely and its not stuck. however in gear even on pulling clutch its not moving. he had fiddled with cluth as well. is my engine really seized ?

Hello guys, I'm thinking to modify my Apache RTR 160. Most of all, I'm looking for a good exhaust to boost the sound. Please advise what should I do. Do I need to get a new exhaust or is there any other way?

May be I can ask for commission to RC :P

I second Pratik, avoid any aftermarket exhaust or filter, unless your requirement is very specific to the usage.

Where are you from? I would suggest to try other dealers and not just stick with one.

• TVS Apache RTR 160 body kit change

Hi All,

I have a 2012 series Apache RTR 160 (Green-black color) . My bike got damaged today when a security guy was moving it in my absence and it fell on another bike. Fuel tank got dented and has scratches, tank cover and silencer too got scratches. Since there were also few scratches here and there already, and the 2014 Black edition looks so cool, I am thinking of changing the body kit from 2012 Green-black to 2014 Black. That is, changing fuel tank, tank cover, head lamp assembly, engine guard, tail kit etc. I believe the service center has to order them since they wont have them in-stock.

Has anyone done this before ? If yes, what was the cost and how many days do they take ?
It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

So I did something amusing. I had bought a new rtr160 in December 2010. Rode it for 20k kms and sold it off in march 2012. I bought it back last month and it had 47k in the odo. My question is, how much does the engine usually last? Have you seen an apache rtr 160 hyperedge which has done lotsa kms?

Hi, I've heard the rtr 160 engine lasting for 75k+.. yet to hear it about the 180 though

I suggest you claim insurance if you are replacing tank and ask them if you can opt for a different colour.. the other parts which you mentioned are fibre parts and will not cost much. The headlamp fibre part+tank scoops+ rear panels+ engine guard are all fibre parts. I remember asking at svc for the cost of the headlamp housing.. it was 200 odd bucks for a single piece. Most of the other parts will be priced similarly
They generally take 2-3 days to source the parts.. once the parts arrive the fitting can be done in a few hours.

What is the color mentioned in your RC book. If its mentioned black then you can go ahead with your changes else you will have to change your RC book with updated color.

Well, I have heard it can run 1L without much fuss but at some point people cannot resist the temptation of reboring it or changing the bike.
