i think carbed version can easily return 4-5 kmpl less than an fi i.e around 45 kmpl or so.. ( depends upon riding habits offcourse).

i lived in moti nagar (west delhi).

Will fixed it to 1300-1400.
Zorrik is ok, wd40 is better (imported version the best if you can get it).

My idle has dropped too, around 1k, sometimes slightly higher. Still haven't got around to fixing it. But it doesn't switch off just like that. Sometimes though, when i do a very high speed run (120+) for more than 10 minutes or so, the engine keeps wanting to cut off. Idle drops to like 800-900 rpm and keeps shutting off unless i rev the engine. After a few minutes it settles down to normal.

And yes, Nox Rox! I had called him today with an issue bleeding the front brake and he explained both the problem and the solution!

            • guys!

posting after sometime now. My Fi finally went for a frame correction last week. The frame was highly misaligned and I never got around to fixing it. Finally decided enough was enough and gave the bike to Mr Murthy of Zen Shakti TVS in Rajarajewari Nagar, Bangalore.

The frame has been corrected. The brakes bled and filled with fresh brake fluid. Engine oil - Shell Semi Synthetic was drained and Fresh Oil, Motul 300v FL was filled. Apart form this the bike went for a complete general service. Also, critically the meter was fixed. As in the Tacho now starts from 0 as it should.

And boy oh boy! what a difference this service has made it. The bike feels crisp and very very stable. The engine oil has given the bike that eagerness it was missing. The shell oil might be good, but the fi requires a lean synthetic oil that allows it to rev to glory.

But more than the bike, I wanted to talk about Mr.Murthy. A very nice gentlleman, its a pleasure to give your bike to him. He makes no promises of a quick delivery and delivers a bike only when he is satisfied. My fi has seen quite a few mechs and dealerships. But he has been the best so far easily. Any Bangalorean with any TVS bike should take it to him. period. And a special mention to gixxer_junkie_m for leading me to Mr. Murthy. Thanks bro!

Coming back to the FI - what it needs next are - The new rear fenders from the hyperedge series, the plastic shroud around the meter, fi sticker on the steering head, new handlebar grips and a few rubber parts for gear lever etc and msot importantly a new battery.

I need a favor from you guys - Looking for a new battery now. Which one do you guys suggest ? Amaron?

Also need the FI sticker that adorns the steering head. Anybody help me with it? In fact I would take 3 -4 of those stickers.

Il add photos soon of before the frame correction and after.

              cheers!

                • How to adjust accelerator free play?

Hey guys, there is a huge amount of accelerator free play in my hyperedge. I mean, there is a high amount of free twist in the accelerator which happens before the acceleration really kicks in. How do i fix it? I'm not talking about any lag btw. Acceleration is crispy. But the free rotation of the accelerator irritates me.
PS Never mind. Found it myself.

                  • I was ripping it to the max yesterday. But it was struggling to go further than 11.5k or so, is there a rev limiter around that point?

                      • My stock battery from Sep 2008 is still running! Bike has run only about 30k kms but i've never heard of a battery lasting this long. This Jan, i was out of town for over a month and when i came back the battery was very low. Didn't even charge it, just ran the bike over a few days and it's back to normal.

                        • seems like you guys have great luck with batteries. anyways, my battery doesnt support my electric start, however the pump runs fine off the battery whenever ignition is on.

I think I will go for the Amaron Battery with 30 months warranty.

Another update on the bike. After the bike came back form service I rode it to office and observed petrol leaking from the joint at the fuel filter. This is the point where the pipe from the tank attaches to fuel filter.

Couldn't do anything that day. The next morning took the bike to Meghdhoot TVS near my place. The first reactions towards the fi was that the parts won't be available etc.

However I persisted and got the service chaps to action. The tank was dismantled. The culprit was the rubber/fibre pipe (black in color) that connects the fuel tank to the fuel filter.

The dealership had their stock of fuel filters but couldn't locate this pipe/tube. This pipe unlike the other fuel pipes that connect to the carb, is stronger and expensive as well (95rs for 3 inch pipe) as it has to handle fuel under pressure from the fuel pump.

Finally after an exhaustive search by their mechs at other TVS spares stockists, they got it. And the part was fixed, along with a new fuel filter.

Time taken 3 hrs. Money spent - 95 (pipe)+105(filter)+40 labour =~250rs. Special mention about Meghdhoot TVS. The place was jam packed with bikes at 9:30 in the morning. Yet they went out of their way to get the part and work on my bike and deliver it back to me. Top class customer service!

Well, now the bikes running well. no fuel hiccups and a free grunty pull all the way up. However the top speed has reduced a bit owing to the 110/90 at the rear. I am not bothered by it, but I might just buy a 100/90 for the rear and put this tyre for the Apache.

                          cheers!

                              • Hi All,

Recently I'm suffering from drop in mileage for my hyperedge even though its just 1.5 years and odo reading is just around 14k. I'm getting max 40kmpl in city conditions even though I don't drive insanely (though in the initial period I used to). I shift gears between 4k-5k rpm & in city I normally maintain speed in 5k rpm. I used to get 45kmpl+ initially with this sort of riding. But nowadays getting 40 mark is like a fortune .
My bike runs everything on stock except spark plug which I changed recently to NGK. I cleaned carburetor, air filter & also changed the spark plug hoping these will increase my mileage. Only thing I haven't changed is petrol bunk which I have been filling from beginning. Frankly I don't suspect them. What else can be the reason for drop in mileage?
