          • @Kedar: Sorry to hear about the fall. Which left turn is this? Might be the age, but I'm very very scared of these random wet patches on road.

PS: Has anyone got experience of going over a wet patch on a otherwise dry tarmac, in a leaned position with the most grippy tyre? I'm not talking about a complete wet surface here, just a wet patch on a dry tarmac.

So I had my first crash on the RTR last night.

Was coming late from office around 11:00 PM. There is this nice left turn close to my home. I was at around 60 or so & when I reached the turn I saw water spilled over the road. I realized that I was about to fall as the bike's rear had started slipping So I carefully decided to fall (as if I had an option ) i.e. when the front too lost it, I let it be & kept holding the bike till I started touching down on the ground & once I did I left the bike & I fell in a sitting posture on my left upper thigh.

The bike went away around 20-30 feet away, I could see the sparks flowing through all the metallic parts. I had a small roll but kept my head high. Stood up & found no scratches on me only an itchy bum :P

Looked at bike & thought here goes my baby for its first insurance claim :-D Went to the bike it was still running in full glory albeit in a false neutral mode. I switched it off

Some guys came & asked if I was fine & I replied in Yes. They helped me lift the bike.
After initial inspection things looked fine, I started the bike & continued my journey to home. Found the Clutch lever to be in different position, tryied pushing it to its earlier place & voila it did. The bike was as stable as before no extra signs, so decided to check properly once I reach home

On reaching home, I was surprised to see the damages, My worst fear was fairing & tank & scoops but nothing happened to them except for a black line on fairing that too on an edge(although a big one), the damages were

              - Scraped left Side crash guard (not bent)
              - Scraped Gear lever rubber
              - Scraped Sari guard foot rest
              - Brushed rear Left Indicator
              - Brushed rear grab rail
              - LHS indicator,
              - LHS Weight bar
              - LHS break lever round edge
              - Out of the two brackets on the LHS foot peg one is broken so a precautionary measure I will replace the foot peg
I exactly know how you feel man, this had happened to me too.... the stock tyres on RTR are brilliant in Full Dry or Full wet conditions, but are dam risky when it sees a wet patch! I guess got to do with the rubber compound!
Infact honestly with different tyre I am still a bit paranoid of going to fast (which is usual with me on RTR) on wet patches!
Replace the footpegs else it will give away one day, they are a weird aluminum alloy which breaks on impact!

now seriously need to think about replacing the tyre. Should I go for the Dunlop Geo crusier 100-90 for rear?

Ride safe and be extra careful on the road. God save us.
Its a good tyre, the recommendation for tyres are all over this thread... read em!

TVS is a tyre manufacturer as well bro!
Even Indica\Indigo has TVS tyres as OEM!

I ride with stock front and Zapper C - 3.00 as rear... infact my front tyre is slightly bigger than the rear tyres :P but the tyre grips well..... waiting for the R15 front (Zapper S)

Oh and my leaning skills are weird, I mean its more of an old school Lean Out, rather than Lean In... but I dont have a problem with these new rubbers now!
(learning hard to lean in too now )

So, when you went over a wet patch on a dry road, in a leaned position. Did any of your tyre (front/rear) skidded? If yes, how did you controlled the skid?
If no, which tyres where you running? What was your speed (approx)?
                Thanks.

                • I did a small lean in (my parctise) @ about 60 odd
The lean outs were at 85 odd but they arent your usual hair pin bends, they are a good 40 degree turns....

EDIT: I didnt skid... it was firmly on ground.... with this abnormal setup (slightly larger front) the bike has a mind of its own and is happy to bend at will!

Thats thru a "wet" patch on a "dry" road, right? Similar to what Techno faced when he fell.

                        • Thanks everyone for your wishes.

The patch where I fell I belive any tire would have.

Navendu, its the left hander after Rajiv Gandhi bridge.

The bike is doing fine only footpeg would be changed rest will remain as they are not as badly damaged to warrant a replacement

Can we have a small demo session because I'm very very scared everytime I see a wet patch while I'm leaned into a corner. I guess there might be few others who might share my feeling.

You mean the one that takes you into the 'S' curver. Man thats my fav turn, got to be extra careful now.
Will it be possible for you to carry back the old foot peg after replacing? I need to try out a few things.
