I was doing some 50ish and wanted to see how it pulled, so left the throttle. Once the tacho hit 1.5K rpm, I whacked the throttle again and it happily pulled off. Why, is ~35 at 1.5K high or low? Neverthless all I am stressing here is that it does not stall.

so sad tht ur running in the bike..... u would hve enjoyed it after the run in.!

If the FI does 35 @ 1.5k rpm then its top speed should be around 210 +

my rtr usually does 35 at 2.5-3k rpm(aproxx) if ur bike is doin 35 at 1.5 k rpm then pull in the clutch and see at wat rpm it idles on.....if u see its in zero....then ur bike will turn young just like mine.....get it replaced under warrenty

Ok, I will get that checked. But the thing is it happens only if the bike stalls. Yesterday I switched on the engine shifted to first and switched off. Then switched it on and the self starter fired up without issues after the self-check. Weird!!! The tappet noise is ok now. Since the engine is new, I do not mind. Let it complete a 500 km and I will bombard the SC guys.
check if it starts when u fully pull in the clutch. sometime it start only with half clutch pulled in

I haven't used the Q so i don't know if its really bad. Just that the tread pattern seems better on the C and the geo cruiser. A person did post here that on switching from the geo cruiser to the Q, he found a tremendous loss in traction. The Q is probably the best looking indian tyre though.

what model and size front tyre is that nav?

p.s. how could i have missed this? anyone tried the p200/220 front tyre on the rtr? It's a tubeless 90/90-17"

            • @Julian: Which MRF dealer did you contact? I am searching for the Zapper S for a while now, but so far ... no luck! I ride to Vashi almost daily, would be great if you can help me out on this one!

Somebody broke my rear panel (on which the RTR sticker is fixed) in the parking lot! Any idea how much it will cost

Also another strange thing, now my tyres seem to have breathing capabilities, I refuell at a shell point and check my tyre pressure every two day, strangely the rear tyre pressure goes up to 40 at times!!!! I mean on day 1 its set as 32, then after riding for two days it shows 40!!!! hows that possible!

                • Guys, had a bad experience with the bike today.

The bike ran fine all day, took her around for about 100 kms. Brought her home, and took a nap. I woke up and headed for the gym. For some reason, I wanted to do a burnout, so I did. Halfway through, I stopped because I heard some weird noise from the gearbox. Next thing I know, she's got a tight as hell clutch and oil splattered all over the gearbox and cooling fins. I can shift into first without the clutch and the bike stays on, which leads me to believe the gears aren't falling. She'll move slowly on her own without throttle, all she needs is a light push. Oh and yes, wringing the throttle with any combination of the gears and clutch is effortless. All that happens is the tacho needle shoots up but the bike doesn't move an inch.

She hasn't been serviced in 4 months, so her oil had to have been low, and I accept my fault for neglecting this factor.

So any diagnosis guys? Screwed up gearbox? Snapped clutch wire? Burnt out clutch plates? All of the above? Something else?

Please help guys. If it's too serious I'll drop her off as a trade-in and get my R15/Bullet booked.

Stick to the stock specifications. The MRF front tyres of the Pulsars are great. But they won't bring a significant jump in grip.R15 tyres would be grippier but then it's slightly narrower which would mar the looks, somewhat!!

Now this seems to be some serious problem.Either the gears have gone kaput(highly unlikely) or the gaskets have come off which has resulted in loss of engine oil which could be blamed for the problems which you have mentioned.Consult the head mechanic in the svc and ask him to have a detailed look.

                    • I do not think there is going to be a percievable difference in looks as far as using 90/90 and 80/90 tires at the front. The only noticeable change would be in the grip level. Am damn sure going in for the R15 front!

Mauli Tyre, Kharghar. When coming from panvel, take a left under the flyover instead of the usual right, then a left again. Speak to Gnyandev - 65255932. You will need to give him a deposit before he orders the tyre. Some dumbass made him get an R15 rear tyre and then disappeared. Are you sure the r15 front tyre is also a zapper-s? i thought only the rear was a zapper-s, which btw, i had a chance to examine at the same store. It is an amazing tyre, reeks of quality and being a tubeless, the sidewalls were super-strong.

My opinion is that since the rtr is a pretty small bike, it's slightly overtyred as stock but with poor compound. As Joel recommended, a zapper-C 3" at the rear and the r15s 80/90 at the front should be better. remember, the much bigger cbz and kari 'only' have a 100/90 rear and 2.75 front. the bike would be much faster and more flickable.

I guess the shell compresssor must be storing the air at a very high pressure, hence cooling it. when it gets in your tyre and heats up and expands. Thats the only explanation i can think of.

Btw, for a solo rider, 25psi at the front and 28 rear is recommended. any higher at the rear could reduce traction of an already crappy tyre.

                        • Ok all FI owners my eyes were set on the apache rtr refresh with rear disk but I was thinkin that for the first few months I might be happy with the refresh but then I might regret not getting the FI.. So I wanted to know of any issues prevalent in the Fi model...

I will be using the bike for a year and a half but after that it will not be used much... it will be in use by my dad daily but only for like 2 kms a day or so... will that cause any problems ?

Fi owners please state any problems if any that is...
