My friend owns an Apache RTR 160, and he is not happy with the illumination of stock headlights (35W) during night rides.

        • Blue smoke at startup

i got some issue with my bike*

there is some blue smoke comes at morning start up but disappears after warming up say after 7km
and there is some sticky carbon deposits at exhaust and*at last service mechanic said oil level is lowered too and he says it needs total engine overhaul

But my guess is valve leakage Because blue smoke only visible at morning , today I checked spark plug at morning it was sticky with oil but after coming to office its dry

my bike rtr160 with RC bigbore, head work and ffe

          Total odo 57k*
          with bigbore odo is 9k
          With ffe 15k*

Please give me your suggestions in this regardThanks

Its either bent valves or piston rings have gone.

ya i think bent valves or valve seals might be the reasons
because smoke is visible only when engine is cold
if it continues smoke its down to piston rings/bore
              corect me if am wrong!

Have you modified it or something? The Fi has an 18" rear wheel.

Tyre options I would recommend are a 90/90 zapper-fs for the front (available in tubeless) and a zapper-C/Q or a geo cruiser (if still available) for the rear.

Or if you got the cash and can find them, nothing beats the pirelli sport demons.

                      Dear Riders,
I have an issue with my Apache RTR 160. The vehicle delivers too less a power and doesn't seem to generate torque till I rev it high. Its like there is something chocking it. I asked a mechanic and he told me that the issue was the engine coil which needs replacement. I was initially wondering if it were the spark plugs, but he insists that it is the coil.
Has anyone faced any issue similar to this? Any solutions?

                      Regards

Hey guys i had a really very serious issue in my Apache rtr 160 which is 2012 model.
The handle was wobbling at the speeds between 50-60kmph when the issue was still minor.
I complained this issue to the TVS Svc's many a times but they were unable to solve my issue,
they used to say that it is common in all the rtr versions. But it was really disturbing me a lot while
driving the bike,at the time of sudden disc braking and cornering, the bike really felt as if its falling ,
but anyhow i managed it and ignored.I changed the balls of cone set and did everything possible
to solve the issue but nothing was helpful. And now from past 2 weeks the wobbling of handle problem
was really very very serious, it was wobbling even in the speeds of 30-40kmph, it was very annoying man.
Then i decided to know the issue and researced with all the mechanics and asked the suggestion from there
and noted each and every possible reason for handle wobbling. The maximum number of reasons given by the
expert mechanics were either cone set is damaged, or alloy wheel is bent, or tyre beading is not proper.
After the survey i told the mechanics to check all the three reasons in my bike, and confirmed from them that
everything is alright. But one of the mechanics told me that the only problem and reason for the wobbling in
your bike that is tyre beading is not rightly set, the beading was out of the alloy a little. Then went to tyre clinic
soon and told them to fit it perfectly. Then the moment i rode the bike was really a being in heaven feeling for me
like i felt really very happy.TVS mechanics are trained so much but inspite of that they were unable to solve
the problem but an illiterate solved the issue in a second.I finally thanked him and came home happily.
Now my bike is perfectly alright without any problem.

Guess what, my bike has the same problem and my colleague who is sitting beside too has the same issue and both of us have RTRs I loosened the coneset a bit and that reduced the wobbling but was still present.

I think I ran over a pothole at good speeds which caused this, so the tyre beading might not be proper, this is the first thing I am going to check.

This is a very good info indeed man, thanks again

@Omnipresent That's a priceless piece of info bro! Many thanks. I am having the same issue with my bike too, and problem has persisted even after repeated attempts. Even Honda guys had given up on my problem. Now I know better. I too had been over some potholes at speed so that might be the issue. Thanks again for the tip.

BTW any idea who can get the beading fixed? Will any puncture shop dealing with tubeless tyres be able to rectify this? Or do I need to go to a wheel alignment guy?

At puncture shops they fix it.You need to tell them is to fit the tire with the beading correctly aligned on the alloy.

                              • Lack of power and chocking of the engine

                                Hello everyone. Greetings.
I've been having some issues with my Apache RTR 160 for a while now. The bike has done 23000 and odd kilometers till date. It is a 2008 - June model.
I have used the bike for short commutes for day to day work within the city permises alone. About a year back, I was having some knee issues so I restrained from riding two/four wheelers for a period of around 5 months.

Now my Apache has the following issues

                                1. Engine idling doesn't stay steady even after adjustment
                                2. Vehicle power is too low, the vehicle is not moving without raising the acceleration by opening the throttle.
                                3. On opening the throttle there is a sudden chocking feeling in the bike and then the bike begins to move ahead.
                                4. Less than 4000 rpm, the bike is not running.

I just want to know if there could be any of these reasons which might cause these issues

                                1. Clutch wear
                                2. Accelerator cable wear
                                3. Spark plug issues
                                4. Engine alternator coil gone bad
                                5. Air filter issues
                                6. Carburetor block
                                7. Wiring issues (harness)

I need to get my bike back to form again.

It would be helpful if you could help me with giving me some suggestions/ experiences similar to this which you would have faced and solved.

I gave my vehicle twice for service to TVS service, but no use, they never addressed the specific issue.

                                Thank you in advance

                                Yours
