I am not sure if this is the right reason but if this is then its ridiculous.

Anyways I will make it a point to keep checking this screw/bolt in check
vibration thing i can digest but the second reason he gave seems outta this world.....

        • Yep I too have my doubts on the mech's statement but if it is indeed true then so much for the TVS's R&D.

Anyways true or not it was certainly not new for him so thats still disappointing I will now make it a point to get this screw/bolt checked in every service.

If anyone has doubts about the location of this screw then let me know, I will point it out in a pic

          • This remembers me the mech at ashwini tvs panvel. That guy tightened the plastic cover on handle with allen key attached to 2 ft long pipe!
after that, though i had set the chain properly (30-40mm slackness) he reduced slackness to approx 10mm.

@Julian and all TVS vehicle owners in new mumbai, panvel & thane plz note this.
There's lot to it other than saddle....

            • @techno in all my years of riding, i've heard and seen the wierdest issues on the rtr. and this one is pretty unique too. not exactly plagued with problems, but eccentric is what i would call it now.

i guess the bolt was always a little loose from the start and just worked its way out due to the vibes. pretty understandable. but he shouldn't have given you the stupid pillion excuse. mechs will be mechs...

@nox you mean ashwini in thane right? i hope you're not talking about priyanka motors in panvel because i'm about to go there in a few days.

the allen key on the long rod is pretty common man, because they need more leverage out of it because they usually overtighten allen bolts in the first place. can't accept mechs' decisions to deviate from specifications though...

@torq congrats! ur bike seems to be back in shape now.

all this has me worried about what happens when our FIs are out of warranty. if something like the ecu or injectors blow it could cost a bomb to replace.

On the second thought, are you asking about the "saddle"?
