  • Hmm good test done buddy ....
I've never done such tests on my rtr refresh.. I've clocked 12.5K KMS in my ride n taken to top speed of abt 120 twice n 115 tats it. I've not tried pulling upto redline in 1st to 3rd gears..(fear tat it may damage my engine)
so wat often i can rip my bike, n will it cause any effects on engine performance.?

Maintian your bike really good, take care of the minute details like oil, chain, filters evrything and redline it everyday, it wont effect the engine anyways.

keep your bike like ur kid bro and it wont disappoint you my friend.

      • Guys, a small query..

I was about to put a KN air filter in my bike, but the castrol guys told me that bike's mileage will reduce by 15-20 KMPL!!
They also, said that the bike's engine will be under lots of pressure due to which its lifespan will reduce drastically..

Are these statements of his true??
I am truly a novice in this matter..

Do you know what those tappets say by screaming so much?

Redline the engine in every ride.

I covered 15k in 10 months. 100-105 is regular affair (i ride 40kms non stop above 100). I touch 118-120 in every ride.

All that is crap. K&N will never reduce fuel efficiency. Regarding engine under pressure (in their terms " bike's engine will be under lots of pressure"). They must be refering to lean running. Just position needle to third slot or upsize the jet. That will solve the problem.

But can you please elaborate on wat u meant by positioning the needle to third slot and upsizing the jet..As i said earlier, i am really ignorant on this..

Upsizing jet is to plonk in larger main jet. and needle on third slot is positioning jet needle in 3rd slot.

                        @Chetan

You can do it but be careful while trying it!!

                        • Ok guys this annoying problem is still here: Whenever im in first gear and i pull in the clutch or sometimes even let go of the clutch; the revs just rise and stay at around 3 k or so..only the wring of the throttle makes it settle back down. Its happening in 2nd gear also. I had my oil changed at a castrol bike zone today and the mech there said my gears might be messed up. I dont really want to give it to these guys to mess around with, i'd rather have it looked at by the showroom SVC. Any ideas as to what the problem could be..its getting to be that it happens every time i ride the bike.

                          • @redapple:even I had the same problem.Renny suggested me to have the throttle cable checked.Did the same and voila,it was solved...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

I figured it was something like that...see this is why im afraid of giving it to the Castrol Bike Zone people. I'll swing by the TVS SVC tommorow and see if they'll give it the once over. Thanks srini .

                              • Braking Problem: Risk for my life.

My RTR FI has been suffering from a 'braking' problem for a long time now.

The problem started 5 months back. My front brake became spongy and the lever travel was abnormally wide, so I insisted to do Air bleeding during servicing @ ASC. Unfortunately, the day it was done, it was raining, and I doubt that the fluid absorded moisture. What repeatedly happened with me was that whenever Air-bleeding/ top-up/ pressure building in fluid was done, the brakes performed good for only three consecutive days. The forth day, it again become spongy and braking performance also degraded everytime.

Till date, 6 times air bleeding has been done including 3 times total fluid change and remaining times top-up.
I had changed Brake pads, replaced cylinder piston (under Warranty), changed brake lever (was worn out) in this span of time.

I had escalated a mail also to higher TVS officials, and the air bleeding done
right after it lasted best (around 1.5 months). Recently, when lever travel again increased, and saw the reservoir oil's level was lower than LOW mark, I got brake pads changed. The bite of new pads was exquisite but remained only for a week. Nowadays, it is again bloody spongy, lever travel is almost reaching to throttle, and the braking distance is (of course) increased.

Please friends, help me in this regard. I feel someday I'll either I'll crash in some vehicle or some vehicle will crash me.
