f*Ck.. have the exact same problem. Asked the Castrol bike zone guys and they refused to open the engine. It's a small thig, have been living with it for the last 6-7 months.

Don't really want to open up the crank case for this.

        • Some times the culprit could be Neutral light plate inside the Engine,if it is the problem then u shud have to open the whole engine and change the seals too.

          • Update

            Hey guys,
MY bike has done 1750 kms now. here is the update:
            1) gears are smoother now. But, getting to neutral from 1st on a red light is still a pain. Have to switch of the engine and then put it on neutral.
            2) started ripping it (in periods 80-100 km/h) after 1500 kms on the odo,now i cruise on 80-90 km/h. My daily ride to work is 80 kms(to and fro) and am enjoying it. Though, i do feel loss of power after a while.
            3) The engine heat is making it's presence felt now... here i would like to ask you guys about fitting the leg guard. which one should i go for? I had seen CBZ xtreme's leg guard on a grey karizma in the older posts(before the crash of the website).

Will the size of a 9Ah battery of one make differ from the same of another make? Because I have heard people getting a 9Ah battery directly fit into zma, though I am not sure about the brand they opted.

              1. Try getting to neutral before the bike comes to a complete halt- say at 10kmph from 2nd to neutral. Give the throttle a blip while doing so.

              3. As far as I have seen, it is quite difficult to fit a crash guard on zma and even if you do, their effectiveness is always questionable.

PS: confused! What does a leg guard have to do with heat dissipation from the engine?

              • Sorry for the confusion... my fault the engine heat and leg gurad are two different things.

                1) I can feel the heat from the engine now. It wasn't there earlier.
                2) My query is for the leg guard, I had seen it in the older website on a grey karizma. so can i fit it or not? I just feel having a leg guard is safer.... just my opinion.

                • Anshul,
Vaas fitted P220's leg guard on a Karizma. You can PM vaas2000 in this regard.

In city rides, you will feel the engine heating. If you are still feeling even in normal conditions, please change the engine oil to a good one. What engine oil you are using now?

This is to inform all fellow Karizma riders that the TVS Apache front disc pads are a direct fit on the Zma. Recently fitted the Apache pads on my bike and it brakes just like the stock Nissin pads or better id say.

                      Apache pads: Rs.330

                        • Running-in is a topic that will generate never-ending discussion.

Do what you feel is right You can play safe and go by the book or be adventurous and try the "break-in" methods.

Generally speaking, its better to go by the book for the first 500km and then start to open it up or "break her in "....

                            Aye aye sir !
Im kinda following a combo of the two methods.
What im following from the motoman method is the 'Constantly keep varying the revs' part.
And im keeping her below 4500-5000 revs at all times
Do i stick to this Sandeep..?
Your opinion means a lot to a newbie like me

                            • I can tell you what I did - largely go by the "safe" method but intersperse it with occasional bursts. After 500km I gave her a few full throttle bursts in all gears and soon some near redline short durations bursts in all gears. Be careful not to over do it though...

Yes - vary the RPM and speeds. 5K in 5th = 80kph. Keep her below 80kph max for a while now. As the engine free's up you can start opening her up. That ZMA can gallop ..no question .
