Yes - vary the RPM and speeds. 5K in 5th = 80kph. Keep her below 80kph max for a while now. As the engine free's up you can start opening her up. That ZMA can gallop ..no question .
Points duly noted and am gonna follow this bit of advice to the letter
5000 revs on the Zma is plenty to play around with. Especially since ive been riding a Uni for the past three years
Any suggestions as to the oil that i oughta fill at the 100km mark..?
The only HH stuff im seeing is made by BP - The MAK crap

Will do just that mate !
Now for my write-up on how i managed to get the Zma 21 days after id paid the entire amount !

Got a call at 12.30 yesterday from the dealer that the bikes had arrived.
Skipped lunch, put on the xBhp tee (Lucky charm ) and my trusted pair of cargos and off i went to the dealership on my Uni.

My dad came sometime later to help with the trading-in formalities for the P150.
My younger brother who's in tenth accompanied me to pick the Zma outta the 4 black beauties that had arrived.

On close inspection, we rejected two for some pretty serious scratches on the bodywork. The other two bikes weren't cleaned yet and were parked alongside some old-stock Red colored Zma Rs'
My brother then went over and spent a good 15 mins inspecting those two and picked out the One who is parked right now in the basement.

Five painful hours and several irritating queries later, i pulled in the clutch, slotted her in 1st and had the awesomest ride of my life
The ride back home was in peak Bangalore traffic and that too through Majestic - One of the worst areas to even walk around in. But the Zma was as well behaved as my Uni and i felt at home riding her through the sea of buses and autos.

The registration will be done tomorrow and hence my joyrides have been confined to my neighbourhood alone today.
Can't wait to cover some ground and experience what the 223 Honda is *REALLY* capable of !

                Cheers !

                  • Akkiben, that is some good news. We have checked almost all bikes but never checked the Apache. Will see tomorrow if this is a direct fit. We have to make sure what is the manufacturer of the Apache disc pads.

@Maverick, congratulations dude! Welcome aboard. You better not mix different oil brands. Just use the HH 10w30 oil for timebeing. Do not worry too much about the HH oil, just make sure the oil is supplied by Idemitsu and not by BP. Hero Honda oil is really good.

I am currently using the one made by Tide water. This one is also good.

Dude, whichever oil you want - Idemitsu/Tide Water/Elf/Gulf Pride, just contact the company/its marketing dept./Dealer list/etc. Try and find all that on its website.

Personally I found the Gulf to be markedly better than Idemitsu. Dunno how it performs in the long run tho... filled it in v recently. The company is v responsive too (unlike Castrol). Haven't tried Elf... so wont comment.

Btw, Sarbanoxley, which oil(s) are you comparing the Elf oil with? Not with the BPCL HH oil by any chance??

                        • If you got to Majestic Motors on RV Road - you will get HH4T made by Tide.

And during running-in its ok to use their oil. Just ensure they put in the full 900ml instead of their fetish of 700ml

And congrats. Welcome to the Wing Riders Club ...

BTW, what make were the Apache brake pads? It should be printed or pressed on the pads!

Do they belong to the Apache 150 or the RTR? I am not sure of both of them use the same pads!
