No loss of power etc occurs though.
Have clocked 118kms and will be getting the oil changed latest by monday...
a ZMA runs hotter than the Uni. You can feel that in City.

You bike is still at the begining of run in. Hold on until at least 1.5K KMs on the odo.

Oil change can show a positive effect if you find the oil currently in the pan spoiled.

rossiter said as much, but leave it to me to get all paranoid

Im hoping that the oil will atleast improve the shift a little. As of now, she tends to get stuck gear when trying to slot into neutral at a signal...

Even I inquired during that phase and I was told the same by two battery walas... I too settled in for Tata Green (not that Amaron had one for my need but when I asked about it this is what I was told).
Hmmm... so the glitch, if it really did exist, is rectified now, i guess?

Any idea how the Tata Green batts are? Are they sealed or otherwise (requiring maintainence)?

Mave, Akhil told you and you still scratching ur head.... you should be enjoying your time bindaas after his assurance

wait for until the run in is over... even for the gear shift... it gets better gradually.

They should have. a lot of reputation would be at stake otherwise. no confirmation though... didn;t visit battery shops since then

they have all types and are working good & strong. cannot speak about life as they are nto that old in the market but going by Yuasa's name and Tata's positioning them as long life batteries, guess they should last long.

            Will do KP saar
I guess the Zma does heats up considerably more than a 150. A month and i'll be able to confirm if this is a fact...

I've been using Amaron 9Ah battery since few months now. Not the best time for a review, but i'm quite happy with the battery. Was running 100/130 lamps and twin Bosh horns on this battery and it was holding up fine, did couple of tours with this setup. Now 100/130 is replaced with HID. I mainly shifted to the Amaron because i needed a sealed battery.

The 5 years warranty/guarantee needs some explaining. Actually Amaron gives 2.5 years Guarantee, which means they replace it or rectify it no questions asked and no expense incurred. The other remaining 2.5 years is warranty period, during which if the battery is faulty Amaron will provide a new battery but we will have to pay some amount which is the depreciation amount on the old battery.

Tata green batteries are very good, i had it on my Bullet. Tata green replaced Exide on the Bull.

                • Yes, thats right. Though they call it 5 year warranty... its a very misleading term. In fact I don't see how they can call it warranty at all. Its just a pro-rata discount.

However, most batt companies are doing the same thing. But AFAIK, no other company is giving such a long warranty + pro-rata discount as Amaron. Exide, Amco, etc are still stuck with the 1 year warranty. My new Base Terminal (Panasonic) for my Shogun carries a 18 months warranty remaining 19 to 50 months is a pro-rata discount. So for a bit higher cost plus being a sealed battery, makes the Amaron a v good buy.

Sankar, how long was your Tata Green in use? But as Hydbiker said, its not possible to comment on its lifespan, as its a newcomer in the market... Actually, thats one reason why I didn't go for it, even though it was priced the same as BT.

Deepkumar, I'v had the worst experience with Exide in both car and bike... its the last batt I would recommend to anyone. Other things life life, etc, aside, the one on my Shogun has even ruined the metal around it as it leaks electrolyte... possibly even gas (corrosive). Tata is too new to comment on. BT is cheaper than Amaron and I'v heard good things about it. Its not sealed though. Amaron is the best buy. Its sealed, has the longest warranty and a +ve reputation!

                  • Yeah, i can't really put up a review of sorts since the battery is pretty new. Anyway for 2.5 years i have peace of mind.

I had the Tata Green for more than a year after which the Bullet was sold. It was very reliable even though i wasn't very regular in getting the acid checked and topped up. Good buy if you're not looking for a SMF batt.

Someone please answer the above edited question.

One question from me: Which is the best 9amp. batt from the above mentioned brands?
                      [For a ZMA of course]

Also, information is spread all over in many pages here which makes it a bit tedious to put them all together. I suggest that info like this should be edited into the 1st post of the thread. Just a suggestion though. MODS: Think it is possible? Or anything similar at least?

                      • RTR pads a direct fit to ZMA!

Its been over 6k kms since i serviced my bike....am completly broke so i had to postpone it since my service bill was over 4-5k rs I just changed the oil at 5k kms. i thought the brake pads were almost worned out and i just could'nt put 500+ bucks for them.....

But someone said that A150's and RTR's have the same pad's...so there must be some after market pads form em........went to my mech he confirmed the same went to a local automobile shop and 1st bought a KBX pads but it did'nt fit.....then my mech sugested to get cbz pads....to my surprise it was a direct fit. I got ASK pads just 100 buck

So now Zma/cbz/A150/RTR have the same pads.....Zma owners can use RTR pads for 350 buck instead of spending 1500+ for nissin pads

                        ASK pads

                        My RTR pads....!

                          • My ZMA

                            Hi Guys.

                            Some experiences on my ZMA.

Battery - have dumped 2 batteries in 3.5 years of usage. AMCO sucks!! Got an EXIDE Maintenance free battery 9Ah for 1500 bucks. Got a 1.5 year replacement warranty and subsequent discounts on purchase of a new battery from 1.5 to 3 years. Excellent performance. Runs my 55/60W and twin ROOTS horns with no issues. But, yeah the dimming of the pilots does happen on applying brakes. (Any ideas?)

Headlamps: Got Philips 55/60W lamp with the 5W pilots. Rs.530 for the set. nice stuff. using it for more than 6 months. no hassles.

Disc pads:Using 150-200 bucks range pads for 1 yr. Somehow they dont feel good compared to OEM ones. Will try out the RTR ones. Hopefully should help out.

Tyres. Running MRF stock front tyre and 120/80 rear tyre. I had a stupid experience using the duplicate unbranded 120/90 offroad tyre as a rear. The chassis was abused and the rear balancer rod was bent to accomodate the tyre. Must be also a cause of my bike's wobbling now. More investigation needed.

Mods: Have got a clipon set installed and fairing mounted mirrors. I was contemplating a rearset but decided against it. I also got my seat converted a la P-200,P-220 and have a split seat now.. Doesnt look half as bad either.

                            Some niggles and worries:

                            1. Imperceptible wobbling at lower speeds. Controllable but sometimes a bit noticeable. Got my shock oil changed and wheel alignment checked. Some improvement but not gone completely. Service center guy is of the opinion that the racer bearing and the T pipe is bent due to some previous crash (I got the bike 2nd hand in Sept 07 and no idea). Will be looking into that in the next service.

                            2. Rattling of the silencer cladding (not the heat shield) which covers the inner tube. The service center guy says costs 1100 bucks but dont change if you are ok with a bit of rattling sound at lower revs.

Please suggest where to get proper shock oil for my ZMA. Will HH service spares provide or is there any better aftermarket alternative? The front shocks are a bit too sensitive to my liking. (I dont like the feel of potholed roads at 60kmph onto my wrists.)
A girlfriend as a pillion at 400 kmph... What Girl??

Amaron is one of the best in the business as of now, and everyone (including me) who I know of, is quite happy with the batterys. Best thing are sealed batterys - the dealer/service centre dont get to rape your battery. As for warranty terms, see them in print yourself... dont believe the dealer. Suggest you try another authorised Amaron dealer.

If buying any other battery (non-sealed), make sure the electrolyte is filled only upto the MAX mark... and not above that.
I am not fool to just listen to what a roadside dealer says. The guy is a dealer for Amaron. We enquired at two to three places they told the same. I know that Amaron batteries are good. I was talking about only the nonmantenance sealed battery. I did not comment on rest of the batteries from Amaron.

Please note, I am not telling that the sealed batteries are bad. Suppose if you have a problem with your electricals and the battery drains out completely, then the battery cannot be reused or repaired. Replacement applies only once in that 5 years. They will not replace second time in five years.

                              • ^^^Is it mentioned in the g card that it will be replaced only once??

I didn't know that these batts would go stone dead if totally discharged. But fact is, even non-sealed Pb-acid batts are not supposed to be totally discharged. If it happens, it will severely shorten their life... though they may not go stone dead, I guess.

And btw, you wont get replacement even once in 5 years! In the sense that the full warranty will apply for something like 2.5 years. Rest is pro-rata discount.

Dont know about you... but if I were to buy a good battery for a bike that I intend to keep for sometime, it would still very likely be Amaron.
