Do this ASAP. Do not ride your bike any more. I guess your bike comes back to normal as soon as you fill good petrol. Careful about spurious petrol.Originally posted by prafultripathy View Post

@ jonak:relax bro, first get it checked by a good mechanic.and at the time we left you at the junction atleast i did not smell any thing absurd.and if speed was the culprit then my bike had gone for a toss long way back.and trust me we can not do any harm to a zma as we are not that capable rider ,just my opinion.

Jonak: Serves you right for chasing bikes 10 times more powerful than yours on the open road
.
Don't worry young man. I use the ZMA too regularly and have done several long high-speed runs on it. 100+ almost all day long, two-up (me and wifey) and for a succession of days when traveling through Rajasthan. Also done Lahaul-Spiti on the same bike, two up again.
On the contrary, your bike would be running a lot smoother now. Personally, as a rule, whenever I buy a new bike I run it in nice and easy for the first couple of thousand kms and then usually go for a high-speed Delhi-Jaipur run to thoroughly bed-in the engine for long-hauls.
The 'smell' of petrol is one of those quirks of the ZMA like its occasional refusal to start which gets mysteriously fixed at times by opening the tank lid momentarily or by just switching off the ignition for a few seconds and then trying again. I have also smelt petrol from my bike at times and it goes away after a while.
Any bike, esp the ones with air-cooled engines like the ZMA, don't just get damaged in zero time. Usually only two things can quickly kill a good engine - 1. Excess heat and 2. Lack of lubrication. Either way, you will feel a substantial power drop from the engine while the bike is running before things go permanently bad. And I know you were keeping up with us easily that day.

Thanks MG. I remember riding with you at 85kmph. Didn't gather enough courage to do 100kmph with our super moderator as pillion.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post@Jonak-Your bike is still very new and hence the smell resulting from overheating of engine.Nothing to worry though.
Nabendu da has big speedo error in his bike.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostBtw Nabendu says that his bike never crossed the 120 mark in his speedo
.
The R1s really turned on both him and his bike that day.

Man!!! You scared me.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostJonak, seems your bike's engine has gone for a hot hot fry. Your bike's piston has worn out and piston rings may have gone for a toss. There may be possibility that the rocker arms have gone due to nonfunctional cam tensioner and chain.
Eventhough I told you not to cross 100 on a Zma, you did not pay heed to my warning. See now what happened.

But my bike is still doing 80kmph at exactly 4.9 rpm at 5th gear and doing 110 easily. Only the smell is making me worried.
Blame it on Nabendu da, Sir.Originally posted by Old Fox View PostJonak: Serves you right for chasing bikes 10 times more powerful than yours on the open road

You know how he was leading us before and after that "Coffee with Old_fox" session.
That god!!! I am still alright.Originally posted by BANDHAV View Post@ravi: how will be responisble if that poor chap end up having a nervous breakdown after reading your post?

The oil level was all right before that ride. Lemme check it now.Originally posted by suhasn46 View PostBut I feel its not something to worry about. Jonak have you checked the engine oil level?? Is your bike drinking oil? If yes, then piston rings have gone kaput. Anyway it's only a guessing game here. So i think you should get it checked ASAP!
Thinking of spraying some room freshener in my garage.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostChill guys!!! Just pulling legs.
JOnak, nothing wrong with your bike. Do not worry. May be it is just that your olfactory sensors are too much active.

(No no, you do not have to come to my place. Lemme wait for two more days and after that I will go to the service center. You do not take tension).
The bike is doing fine. No change in performence after that ride. I was worring about the smell only. And also because of the fact that the bike has done only 4000km. by the way, I always refuel with speed or extra premium. But that day I refueled with normal petrol in a small petrol pump beside NH2 where extra premium was not available. That petrol can also be a culprit. Anyway, if the smell exists I will show you the bike when we meet tomorrow.Originally posted by Old Fox View PostDon't worry young man. @jonak, dont worry dude.. the bikes fine.. just it happens when the bike comes to a hault after a high speed long drive.. I drive regularly on 100-120+ everyday, since I have an open highway for the way to my office..

I dont think Buddy.Originally posted by hartorque View PostThanx a lot Rachit, its of gr8 help i will try to find it in hyderabad first then i will try to get it by KRP.but will there be any effect on mileage.
Depends a lot on driving style.
I drive on the higher ranges of rpm though smooth.
This time my bike gave an astonishing average of 36.
I was amazed.
You might have to experiment with the idle for performance though.
I have set my idle around 1100.
When the bike gets warm or hot the idle goes to 1200.Rachit K Dogra

I was more worried because of the fact the engine is still new. It has done 4200km now.Originally posted by rachitkohli View Post@jonak, dont worry dude.. the bikes fine.. just it happens when the bike comes to a hault after a high speed long drive.. Take it easy Jonak. Do not worry. Nothing is going to happen to your engine. As Old_Fox told, it is just normal. Wait and see if the smell stays. Also, check the engine oil level once. If it is good, you do not need to worry at all.Originally posted by Jonak View PostI was more worried because of the fact the engine is still new. It has done 4200km now.

Hey Buddy,Originally posted by DeepakumarCan any one plz tell me eut is the drain time of MOTUL 300v FL, 5100 4T? which one

Yesterday I went to buy Petronas 4T 5000 (Fully Synthetic) for my Zma.
I asked the dealer about Motul also. He told me that the company is closed now.
Not sure. Just check.
I aksed him about Castrol Power1 and Petronas.
He said that performance wise both are equal.
I am going to try the Petronas one.
