          • Please help me out ..

            Guys,
I want to buy a 2nd hand Karizma.
I have got one offer & that karizma has done some 15000+ KMs.
            1. I would like to know, what all spare parts I need to change (including price).
Because, if I am buying it, I would like to start a fresh with it.
            2. What are the points I should keep in mind before I go for buy? I mean how to check its health?
            3. What would be an idle price for a bike which is almost 2 years old now? Since I would be changing spark-plug, engine oil, disk-brake oil n small small things like that, I don't want to spend too much money overall (buy out price + spare part change cost).
            4. Anything that you feel is worthy to check before the buy?

Please mention in detail as it's going to be the first bike in my life n I don't want it to be miserable.
Would you suggest me a brand new bike (ZMA R) rather?
ZMR is out of question as it will be some 1L & its plastic maintenance cost will also add up in near future.

Then you might as well go in for a new Karizma..and moreover replace only those parts which really require a replacement.

              2. What are the points I should keep in mind before I go for buy? I mean how to check its health?

Check whether it revvs cleanly and goes to it top speed without much hassels, tappets noise is a regular problem in every karizma so that shudn't be problem,

              3. What would be an idle price for a bike which is almost 2 years old now? Since I would be changing spark-plug, engine oil, disk-brake oil n small small things like that, I don't want to spend too much money overall (buy out price + spare part change cost).

Ideal price can be around 45-55k considering the health and maintenance of the bike. These all things are to be changed after some time of its running, so why consider these during its cost estimation.

              4. Anything that you feel is worthy to check before the buy?

Nothing as such required to check, but you can check the tire condition whether its worn or not, any kind of scratches to the bike, are all the body fairings intact and in place.

dude believe me if you are not inspecting the bike properly with a good mechanic you will end up in big trouble .The karizma parts costs a bomb
if you plan to change many parts after buying it it will end up more cost than the new bike so inspect it very well before you buy.

first let me tell you spending some 45-50 k on a second hand karizma is much better than buying a new 100c if you inspect the karizma well before you buy.

The best way to check karizma is to try it push above 100
Take it on highway and try to reach the top speed. A well conditioned
karizma will touch 120 easily and smoothly . Push it beyond that it will reach up to 130-135 on speedo meter if there is no cross wind and you are riding alone.

If you are feeling the bike troubles in reaching top speed check the clutch plate .
CHeck the timing chain , sparkplug and airfilter
Most important check the body well (the body plastics are costly ) remove the seat and check the plastic joints . if the bike had any accidents in past these joints will be the first to broke.

Check eletricals and check the tyres.. Check the front mudguard well ( most of the ZMas frotn mudguard will be crakced due to number plate hittign on it hard )

CHeck the battery . And finally check the papers . If the bik;s finance is not closed in RC book ask him to reduce 1000 ( you have to pay around 1000 to close it) .

Ensure that the mechanic somes wiht you has worked on ZMa's before.

If you choose carefully you have to spend less later. remeber the karizma parts cost high .

                  All the best bro
                  Enjoy the ride

                    • hi guys,

I have been wanting to check the fuel efficiency of my zma for quite some time as it had not been serviced for about 4-5 months.I knew it was giving me more than 40 but never cared how much.last week I decided to check the FE of my bike and filled up 100rs after it hit reserve and the next time bike went into reserve the difference in the Odo was 98 kms.If my calculations are correct the fuel efficiency should be in the high fourtees.I have got this kind of mileage in the past as well but for a bike which is 18 k kms old I was shocked.

My gear box has been on the harder side right from day one - was wondering if the plates have anything to do with it.how much for the Zma clutch plates?

                      • Steve: You mean to say you get an average of 47.xx kmpl? Gosh! Looks like you hardly cross the 4k mark on the tacho.

I got the clutch plates changed by Castrol BZ folks at Noida. The bill, along with the general (platinum) service and fixing other issues, was around 2.5k.

                        • My New 2005 model- SILVER ZMA

                          Heyy all,
I would like to welcome myself into this thread formally because I will be found hanging out in this thread- A LOt hereafter.
yeah, I just traded my P180UG-III for a Silver 2005 ZMA.
I am really happy with the way this baby performs.. I really wonder why I never bought a ZMA when I got the Pulsar.
Please bear with me for all my dumb questions. I've never handled a ZMA before.

Couple of days back, I posted a query " how do i open the seat of the ZMA". the reply I got was " do u really own one?? "
Heh heh.. Yes Sire, I do own one NOW.
Just waiting to get 2 FIAT stickers and 2 Bridgestone stickers to PIMP her up.

                              BTW,
                              1) any suggestions where I can get some decent stickering done here in Bangalore
                              2) Can anyone tell me where I can get the Engine cowl of the ZMA? Its not available in HH showroom, Hosur Road. Are the ones available in JC road originals? I guess the original costs somwhere around 550-600 bucks.
