    I dont think it switches on and off. I have seen it switched on all the time, even in bright sunlight. JUst that we cannot see it clearly Will check once more.

      Munnar...33 km/lit with 100-110km/hr
      Horsley Hills...46.07...80 -90 km/hr on the GQ and 70 or less for the remaining trip.

      Inside the city I get about 41 to 42 -I dont rip the bike a lot and keep it within 5K rpm. Quote from Pg:21

      May be slightly OT, but when I was going through entire thread & found strange posts regarding mileage they get at higher speeds... As an example-the above quote

      Let me explain: In case you are cruising at 80kmph(which is highly impossible to maintain strictly constant for so long) for a stretch of 60km next you have to pass through a village or city which may stretch say 10km in length(with twists and turns); then you need to drop speeds say 30kmph(even this won't be constant coz some disturbances traffic on road or so) so you will take minimum of double the amount of time you were traveling past 60km before entering city. We will do some math.

      Speed = Distance/Time (implies) Time = Distance/Speed

      While traveling on 60Km stretch at 80Kmph(Assuming no disturbances causing to slow down)

      Time = 60Km/80Kmph = 0.75hr = 45 Min

      While traveling through a city for 5Km at 30Kmph(Assuming no traffic or other disturbances causing to stop)

      Time = 10Km/30Kmph = 0.33hr = 19.8 Min

      Summing Up: Time taking for traveling 60Km + Time taken to cover 10Km city road = 45+19.8 = 64.8 Min = 1.08Hr

      Total distance covered = 60+10 = 70Km

      So Average speed = 70Km/1.08hr = 64.81Kmph

      Though you have travelled most of the 70Km @ 80Kmph it doesn't mean Your average is 80Kmph in fact its just 64Kmph(Considering practical disturbances during driving the avg speed will further drop).

      Hence I will suggest to calculate your average speed considering Time and Your distance covered. As per my knowledge Your Mileage will depend on your Average Cruising speed(Apart from those crazy bursts and short top speeds which will drop your mileage marginally on such a long drive) when you are traveling for such long distance.

      Note: I was suggesting better way to calculate Avg speed in better way and why he had such good Mileage figures... No Offense... Peace

      • The mystery behind ZMA backlit

        Is on..
        Is not..
        Is on..
        Is not..
        Is on..
        Is not..

        Aha!.. the plot thickens.

        Tried looking up during day time. The sun is simply too bright to make out any difference. Anywas I have good opportunity to test this as my daily journey takes me 1 hour. The sun is still there when I leave office. Approx 1/2 way, I switch on pilot lights and 3/4 of the way I have to switch on the headlight. I have noticed that sometimes the backlight seems to suddenly brighten up when I switch on pilot lights. This cannot be confirmed as this can only be my imagination because when I switch off immediately, the backlit remains on now. Other times I keep my light switch off even if its getting quiet dark but the backlit is already on. The problem is I'm too busy navigating traffic that I forget to take note of whether its permanently on or it switches on automatically when light decreases. Will try again.

        Its possible that backlit can be activated both through light sensors and manual switch. But this is mere speculation.

            the backlit is controlled by sensors as it was shown to me by svc ppl by opening the speedo assembly....

            • After my accident, my bike's engine has become rough. The smooth crispness of the engine has been replaced by a vibrating throttle response but without much loss in the pickup. Some kind of metallic clink (tick tick), if listened carefully, is being emitted from the engine as well,other than the normal engine sound. And though it still reaches 100 km/ hr without any fuss, it starts vibrating right after 60.
              The hero honda guys believe in the power of denial and maintains that it is the only way to solve problems. So they posed a question on my sanity, as if i am the only one to experience the vibrations and hear the sounds. I took it to a roadside mechanic and he said that the tappet has to be set properly. I took it to bike zone and they serviced it, but could not make any difference.
              Btw, there was oil leak from from the big side screw left side of the engine (i dont know what it is called...) which they sealed.
              The engine sound has totally changed now. I have never heard him so rough before. What possibly can be the problem?
              P.s: it is 16000 kms old

                Get the ENGINE MOUNT BOLTS tightened to get rid of vibrations.

                    • Help required!

                      Hi friends, can a ZMA fan from Pune give me the name of the best mechanic for the bike? Also, where can I find a petrol lock for my bike? I have tried everywhere but they don't have it in stock. They have it for every other bike, but not for ZMA. Is this a common problem? Where can I find it in Pune?

                      Your help will be truly appreciated.

                      Thanks for reading,

                        • Karizma starting problem

                          Hi,

                          My ZMA-R has done 800+ km and first service done. Gears are more smoother now and engine heating problem is also reduced. But I'm still facing staring issue. Using Choke in the morning, she starts immediately, but in evening after my office hrs, it refuses to start..even after using choke and kick starter Yesterday she took almost 5-7 minutes

                          Any suggestions/solutions for this?
                          Thanks in advance.

                            Open fuel cap and close, then try starting. Works like a charm .

                            • Hello

                              I am facing this issue lately with my 10500km done ZMA

                              Gears are smooth however while driving whenever i change my gear for e.g from 2nd to 3rd and give a little throttle bike make a "kut" sound before it accelerates

                              This happens mostly while upshifting after 2nd gear bike make a kat sound whenever gear is changed and then bike moves smoothly

                              I am sure that its not the gear lever making that kat noise as its coming from the engine

                              any idea whats going on i am suspecting that my clutch settings are not right or its time to change the clutch cable

                              please advise

                              • ^^ And before you try what Kaynmantis has suggested, try this... turn off the ignition key and turn it on again. Press the self-starter button. It might sound strange, but works. If it doesn't, try the fuel lid trick.

                                @dreamz_mak: My take is... this is normal. Resolution: By Design
