Is it advisable to upgrade ZMA-R tyres to 'tubeless' ones? if yes, any modifications needed? how much would be the cost?

currently my ZMA-R is running with a Michelin M45 (90/110) at rear and stock front tyres.
I am using M45 4.00 at rear and M45 3.00 at front as tubeless from the last 9000kms and faced no issues.

hi Vineet. Well U can use the Michelin m45 as a tubeless tyre also. I did not use mine as tubeless because there was a small Dent on my alloy. However, the tyre dealer said it can be used as Tubeless. but remember, it says "tube type" on the tyre.

        I'm using M45 4.00" (rear) and M62 2.75" (front)

Roots dual horns should be your pick however you will have to get it fitted using a cutout or its going to eatup your battery

                  • Need Suggestion

                    Hi All,
I have an issue with my ZMA, when the engine gets heat up, there is a fluctuation in idling sometimes engine runs more than 2 rpm and sometimes its comes down to 1rpm. I checked with mechanic he suggested me to change some parts(cramshaft) I really dont know what he means, help needed. If any good mechanic in and around bangalore kindly let me know, i stay near vijaynagar, distance is not a matter.

                    Thanks

                    • Ok Deepak,
the ZMa has a 13Teeth front and 40Teeth rear sprocket (its not 42T as claimed by Overdrive).
more details on mods can be found here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/desi-bik...ear-ratio.html

The RPM fluctuation at idle is a sign that you're running a lean mixture. Before resorting to a SC for help, just pull out your user manual and richen the mixture.
Rest assured, a camshaft replacement is DEFINITELY not warranted

Thanks for the reply pal since it says 'tube type', would there be any drawbacks converting it into tubeless? also if I want to upgrade front tyre, which one should I go for?

Since the M45 is a nylon corded tyre and not a radial, the major advantage of running a tubeless radial will be lost. You would be running the risk of the tyre separating, if you have a flat and decide to ride on.

Id recommend switching to the ZMR's 100/90 tubeless from MRF. That IMO is the best option for a ZMA rear tyre.

                            Cheers !

                              • ^^ I agree with Maverick for the disadvantages he mentioned.
However, I would suggest you to continue with tubed tyres.

And I did check out the tyres of the ZMR. They dint look any better than our ZMA's stock tyres. They dint even look 110 in size.
The michelins are road leeches. Looks like they were made with only one objective " stick to the asphalt..!! "
