  • Thanks Vipin!

Yes I had an RTR before so I am pretty familiar with the TVS bikes. This is my first HH bike so was not sure. But guessed it wud be similar. I ll try to cover at least 500 to 600 kms before taking my bike to GOA.

Thanks for such an amazing reply :-)

    • Signals of worn-out clutch plates:

      1. Hard gearshifting.
      2. Loss in Pick-up.
      3. RPM increase without increase in acceleration.
      4. Low mileage.
      5. High emissions.

Inder, I guess your clutch plates are very much fine. Please adjust the cable first as said by Nirvan. Replace the wire as soon as possible.

Ok i am Experiencing Hard gear shifting and the RPM jumping(the needle would dance with no rise in RPM)) thought it was a electrical issue took it to the SC.The mech said relay was gone so changed it.The jumping stopped but the RPM rises mildly when i am idling(no throttle). My xtreme has done just 16000Kms(7months old).

Also yesterday only checked the emission the SC mech. said emission is ok.So is my clutch plate ok

              @sarbon :

Emission check is done to ascertain oil drinking capability/ worn out valve seats/ worn out piston rings by studying HC component of the PUC report.

Indication of Worn out clutches :
Gear slip on slopes like basement parking etc (especially b/w 1-2 & N)
Over-Darkening of oil at normal drains
Gearbox heating due to friction by slipping clutch plates

Alternatively you can ask local mechanic to check it by physical examination (about Rs.150/-) The groves on the clutch plates must be having decent depth, it should not be flat. Even if it's flat in one or two plates, it's better to change the plates (full set).

If i rev the bike gradually to 5000RPM and shift the gears the shifts are butter smooth.I exp. hard shift's only between 3500-4500 RPM.I will try to find how the gears(1-2) behave on slope's.I am even confused as to how long i can use the motul 300V 5W 40 so i cannot judge the color of the oil and say hey that looks bad(i am a noob). How to diagnose the gearbox is heating too much. After switching to motul 300V even a noob like me can see that the engine is not overheating infact the first time i poured motul i was worried cause the engine was not getting warm enough even after 7-8 kms of riding.

                  • service at sai motors

Pleasently surprised by the service offered to me at sai motors. My bike had lot of issues like hard gear shifts, cold starts, abrupt loss of power during first few kms of ride and above 7k rpm due to which i fell down in one of my recent roadtrip to chickmagalur and crashguard got bent in process of saving the plastics. Finally a superbike kind of mileage (read 20+ kmpl).

I was totally pissed and took to sai motors. Good to see that kiran is back there. explained the issues and left it there for 2 days. Today i went to pick it up and it was a pleasent ride to office and they had even fixed the bent crashguard. Most of the issues are gone and I am yet to check the mileage. Will update you folks soon.

                        • Recently i observed that when my RPm meter indicates 5 K rpm the bike is not touchign 80 km/hr . it is touchign around 77-78 km/hr. But before one month it was perfectly touchign 80 km/hour on 5 Rpm . i know it is not a big deal but still i just want to know whether this is any indication of any other problem (like worn clutch plate , but i dont think it is clutch plate sincei cahnegd it before 4 K ) . If any one have any idea on this please share it with me so that i can point it out while i give my bike for next service. Other than that there is no noticable problem . The bike runs like a dream .

Please share your thoughts regardign this.

Another thing , In HH servie centre, will they do air filter cleanign and spark pulg cleaning and chain lubrication in normal(regular) service? or should i ask them to do it explicitly ?

                          • How much would the service centre guys charge for an inspection only? :/

Last night the bike again started acting weirdly, the engine would not come to a stall even after letting go of the throttle (on first gear and etc) and when I put it on neutral the engine stopped after a while.

Inder bhai, I'm so confused that I might go crazy in a few days. Rumours of the Fi is also banging in both my ears. But finally, it all boils down to problems I'm facing without a ride right now.

I'll be updating this thread soon after my acqisition.
